Lé Betre - Snake Eyes

Monday, a new week is here and what we usually do here at Tune Of The Day on this day is to present this week's "Record Of The Week".

Today I have the honour to give some great Swedish garage rock with Lé Betre and their new album "Melas". The band was founded in Leksand, a small village in Sweden back in 2011. Lé Betre sound is fuzzed out blues influenced rock with a small touch of both stoner and hardrock. The music is very professional, really tight and very groovy, it's hard as hell to sit still when the riffs echo's in the room. The vocals is dusty and dirty, but very clear and in my ears it's excellent and suits the band perfect, makes the package even better, so the total experience of Lé Betre is top notch.

This is a record that I warmly recommend, a band that can be listed next to other great Swedish acts such as Graveyard, Hong Faux and Horisont.

Jetbone - Ain't It a Shame

Jetbone is a band from Sundsvall, Sweden. The band has existed since 2008 melting down their special brew of Power Pop, Blues & Boogie. Jetbone is an explosive load of straight forward Rock & Roll! The members of the band have known each other since they were kids, growing up together playing soccer and hockey among other things. During their high shcool years they merged together with a mutual interest in good music. By mixing their different influences they developed their own style of Rock & Roll, deriving their sound mainly from 1970's hard rock and rock bands such as Kiss, The Faces and The Rolling Stones. They're also influenced by the likes of Jackson Browne and you'll also definitely hear some echoes of the 90's Garage/Punk wave. Raunchy hard hitting guitars, wild drums, a screaming organ and a punchy bass all topped with punky "spit it out" vocals are some of the ingredients of their of their clean-cut new rocking tunes, Jetbone Rock & Roll.

With influences from Rolling Stones, Black Crowes, Lynyrd Skynyrd and many others, Jetbone has perfected the art of 70s Rock n' Roll - made for today. It is not hard to see why the band has been called "the most hard working band in Sundsvall". With hundreds of gigs, one full self-titled album and one single the band has started to hit the international scene with tours in Russia, Spain and UK among others.

The Movements - The Death of John Hall D.Y.

The Movements, from Gothenburg, Sweden, released the first taste of their new album, Like Elephants 1.

Like Elephants 1 is a very exciting project because, as the title suggests, it is only the first disc of two (Like Elephants 2 is scheduled for release in early 2014). Working out two albums into a unique whole has been innovative, challenging and inspiring for The Movements. What is special about these two albums is that they not only stand strong individually but also create a whole, a kind of continuity, together. The Movements distance themselves from today’s fast-food consumption of songs pulled out of their context and instead dare to demand a greater commitment by the listener who, in return, gets to experience a collection of songs in their intended sequence. 

The Movements possess great songwriting skills and has over the years toured most European countries. The Movements’ upcoming album, Like Elephants 1, is being released on October 25th and will be followed by gigs around Sweden and Europe.

The Movements's just finished thier new music video. The band has been inspired by garage rock from the '60s, space rock and krautrock. They collaborate with producer Björn Olsson (Håkan Hellström). The band was formed in 2002 and has been a frequent live bands ever since. A spacy detail is that they became the first space rock band that got their music played in space by the Swedish astronaut Christer Fuglesang.

About the tune:
We wrote the song The Death of John Hall D. Y. on tour when we read a book about a captivating human fate, who lived in the late 1700s and was the son of one of Gothenburg's wealthiest people. John Hall D. Y. inherited his father's wealth but not his mind or interest in business. - John devoted himself instead to music, art and literature and came to die penniless and homeless. The music video was filmed in Pilane, Sweden. The reason was that John Hall is said to have spent his time there.

The Mooney Suzuki - Shake That Bush Again

The Mooney Suzuki is an American garage rock band that formed in New York City in 1996. Originally comprising vocalist and guitarist Sammy James, Jr., guitarist Graham Tyler, bassist John Paul Ribas and drummer Will Rockwell-Scott, the band has released four studio albums – People Get Ready (2000), Electric Sweat (2003), Alive & Amplified (2004) and Have Mercy (2007). The current lineup includes founding members James and Rockwell-Scott, guitarist Chris Isom and bassist Reno Bo.

Notable past members include Nikolai Fraiture of the Strokes and the Strokes' manager, Ryan Gentles, Jay Braun of the Negatones, Steven Mertens of Adam Green and the Moldy Peaches, Carson Bell of The Pattern, and Marc-Phillipe Eskenazi of Albert Hammond, Jr.

Original member Graham Tyler left the band to become a graphic designer, while drummer Augie Wilson relocated upon graduating from Cooper Union. The current lineup includes guitarist Chris Isom, who has played with members of The Fiery Furnaces and The Negatones, as well as bass player Reno Bo, who contributes to Albert Hammond, Jr. and The Fame. Drummer Will Scott rejoined the band for their Have Mercy tour after leaving upon the completion of Electric Sweat. Scott has also played drums for New York City-based quintet Apes and Androids.

Todays tune "Shake That Bush Again" is the title track taken from The Mooney Suzuki's third studio album "Alive & Amplified", released on August 24, 2004. It was recorded in various locations, including Paramount Studios, Ameraycan Studios, and Decoy Studios, all located in Los Angeles, California. Of its content, the band said it is "dense, kaleidoscopic, and that you could spend hours uncovering little nuggets of goodness." Many of the songs assume sexual innuendos, such as "Primitive Condition", "Alive & Amplified", "Shake That Bush Again", "Loose 'n' Juicy", "Messin' in the Dressin' Room", and "Naked Lady". Of the song "New York Girls", Sammy James, Jr. said "I love the song California Girls, and the women of New York didn't get a fair shake in California Girls, and he thought the New York Girls needed their fair shake, so we gave that to them."

The title song, "Alive & Amplified", became popular after it was featured in a commercial for the Suzuki Grand Vitara, then in a 2004 episode One Tree Hill (TV Series), then in the 2005 film Fun with Dick and Jane and later in video games Madden NFL 2005, ATV Offroad Fury 3 and Shaun White Snowboarding. "Shake That Bush Again" was featured in Burnout 3: Takedown.

The Jamhouse Riot - The Cave

The Jamhouse Riot is a rock band from Stockholm, Sweden. Formed in the suburbs of Stockholm during the spring in 2011. The band plays a catchy rough childish rock with influences from the late 60's, early 70's. Psychedelic breakdowns, melodies with a touch of indie and a pinch of metal makes the music much more complex and various. These young guys create a really nice swing that just snatches hold of one, like a glove and shakes around, just like a dog, wonderfully happy.

Everyone have dreams and the young adults of The Jamhouse Riot's only dream is to live of the music and experience the exciting life of being rockstars. They believe that the greatest thrill is within writing music, but also living wild without repeating the every day normal life. A boring and ordinary way of living without music and adventure is their greatest fear.
