Orange Goblin - Beginners Guide To Suicide

Sunday, time for a classic.

"Beginners Guide To Suicide" is the last tune on ORANGE GOBLINs sixth full-length album "Healing Through Fire", released in 2007. This was their first album released on Sanctuary Records, and their first not to be released by Rise Above Records. Ben Ward said of the album:

"It's not a concept album at all, but we are using the theme of the Great Plague of London and the Great Fire that followed for a lot of lyrical and musical influence. It's definitely the strongest material we have written".

A limited number of copies came with a bonus DVD. The DVD features a live set recorded at The Mean Fiddler in London on December 16, 2006 and also includes some interviews and studio footage.

The art for the record incorporated the Latin phrase, written on the outer edge, "Nam ut quisque est vir optimus, ita difficillime esse alios improbos suspicatur." This phrase is from the writings of Cicero, a Roman orator, and can be translated as, "The more virtuous any man is, the less easily does he suspect others to be vicious."

ORANGE GOBLIN are a space rock band from London, England. Formed in 1995, the band's lineup currently consists of singer Ben Ward, guitarist Joe Hoare, bassist Martyn Millard, and drummer Chris Turner.

Today's tune "Beginners Guide To Suicide" is filmed at Desertfest London 2015 - from The Electric Ballroom, Camden Friday 24th April. With guests Jonny "Honkeyfinger" Halifax (JONNY HALIFAX & THE HOWLING TRUTH) on slide and mouth organ and, out of shot, Harry Armstrong (THE EARLS OF MARS) on keys. Played live for the first time at Desertfest and a part of OG's 20th anniversary celebrations.
