Bad Omens - The Death Of Peace Of Mind

"The Death Of Peace Of Mind" (stylised in all caps) is the third studio album by American metalcore band BAD OMENS, released on February 25, 2022, through Sumerian Records. The band produced the album themselves, while mixing and mastering was done by Zakk Cervini.

BAD OMENS are from Richmond, Virginia formed in 2015 by frontman Noah Sebastian, guitarist Nicholas Ruffilo, and bassist Vincent Riquier. The band later added guitarist Joakim "Jolly" Karlsson and drummer Nick Folio, releasing its critically acclaimed debut self-titled album in 2016 off Sumerian Records. A second album, Finding God Before God Finds Me was released in 2019. Two singles from the album, "Limits" and "Never Know", charted on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart.

BAD OMENS slither through boundaries, only to ultimately choke convention in the process. With ghostly atmospherics, striking hooks, and the tingles of sensual high-register harmonies uplifted by cinematic production.

After their first headline tour was cancelled mid-way at the top of the Global Pandemic, the band found themselves at home in Los Angeles with plenty of time. Where they absorbed and imparted a different palette of unexpected inspirations. Channeling what the frontman describes at times as a “cursive sound,” they embraced a newfound confidence and boundlessly loose creativity. Anything went in the studio, and all “rules” were broken. Noah and Jolly wrote, produced, and engineered the music themselves while GRAMMY® Award-nominated producer and songwriter Zakk Cervini [HALSEY, GRIMES, POPPY, BLINK-182] lent his talents with the mix and master. Challenging himself, Noah decided to “make a track sampling items around the house, none of which were musical instruments.”

Windhand - Red Cloud

Richmond, Virginia's heavy psychedelic quartet WINDHAND took the 27th place with their super psychedelic ultra-slow fare doom metal album "Eternal Return".

"Eternal Return" is the fourth full length from the quartet WINDHAND represents a new era for the group, a chrysalis moment that takes them to new and unforeseen heights. Across nine songs and 63 minutes, "Eternal Return" is an infectious display of songcraft cloaked in alluring atmosphere, molten fuzz, eerie psychedelia and ethereal vocals. The album was once again produced by Jack Endino (NIRVANA, SOUNDGARDEN) with vivid artwork by Arik Roper (SLEEP, HIGH ON FIRE). Equally informed by heavy, fuzzed-out psych along with the iconic grunge / alternative groups of the 90s, WINDHAND have crafted a record brilliant in scope, powerful in execution, and perfect for an era of increasingly blurry yet still heavy borders.

Lamb Of God - Overlord

Next one out from this weeks live experience is the Richmond based heavy metal band LAMB OF GOD. The final support band for SLAYER a few days ago. They did a pretty decent job, but it partly felt more like an 8-5 job than a nightclub show. Seen better shows from these lads.

Today's tune is the quasi-ballad features lyrics penned by vocalist Randy Blythe. He also came up with the video treatment. "I wrote the song about the dangers of self-obsession in our distressingly myopic and increasingly entitled 'me-now/now-me' culture,"

"Overlord" is taken from the eighth studio album "VII: Sturm und Drang". The album was released on July 24, 2015 through Epic Records in North America and through Nuclear Blast outside North America.

Windhand - Old Evil

For a band who traffic in measured, unhurried riffage, Richmond’s WINDHAND have moved awfully quickly over the last few years. The bands approach to doom metal is as seductive as it is crushing. A big wall of doomish noise and a vulnerable but yet so crushing vocals by Dorthia Cottrell makes WINDHANDs concept unique and Viable.

WINDHAND begin a new era of gloom and grief and team up with Virginia’s Satan’s Satyrs for an amp-worshipping, acid trip from hell on an split EP, that was released in February 16th, 2018 via Relapse. A new full-length album is in the pipeline for late 2018, in the mean time we enjoy the smoldering gloom and grief in the lead single is "Old Evil".

Book of Wyrms - Leatherwing Bat

BOOK OF WYRMS is a Space Rock band from Richmond – USA, that features a great female singer, heavy guitar tones and a bucket of nice surprises that will pulversize your core with spaced-out blues/stoner metal. "Sci-Fi/Fantasy" is thier debut album from a band with a cool fantasy name.
