Death Angel - Immortal Behated

Ascending from the depths, the almighty DEATH ANGEL, one of three mighty American thrashers that are out touring in Europe atm with TESTAMENT and EXODUS.

DEATH ANGEL is an American thrash metal band from Daly City, California, initially active from 1982 to 1991 and again since 2001. DEATH ANGEL has released nine studio albums, two demo tapes, one box set and two live albums. The band has gone through several line-up changes, leaving guitarist Rob Cavestany as the only constant member; he and vocalist Mark Osegueda (who joined the group in 1984) are the only members of DEATH ANGEL to appear on all of their studio albums.

DEATH ANGEL is often referred to as one of the key bands in the Bay Area thrash metal movement of the 1980s, and secured opening slots at club venues that decade, including opening for their peers MEGADETH, METALLICA, SLAYER, EXODUS, TESTAMENT, OVERKILL, D.R.I., MERCYFUL FATE and POSSESSED. They are also often credited as one of the leaders of the second wave of thrash metal movement from the 1980s, and considered to be one of the "big eight" of the genre (along with METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER, ANTHRAX, TESTAMENT, EXODUS and OVERKILL). Following the underground success of their first two studio albums, "The Ultra-Violence" (1987) and "Frolic Through The Park" (1988), DEATH ANGEL signed to Geffen Records in 1989, and released their only album for the label, "Act III", the following year. While they were touring in support of "Act III", then-drummer Andy Galeon was injured in a tour bus accident and needed more than a year to fully recover. This resulted in the band's break up in 1991. However, DEATH ANGEL reformed in 2001 (without original rhythm guitarist Gus Pepa) at the Thrash of the Titans benefit concert for TESTAMENT singer Chuck Billy. The band has since continued to record and perform, and their recent studio album, "Humanicide", was released on May 31, 2019.

Today's tune "Immortal Behated" is taken from the ninth studio album "Humanicide", enjoy!

Exodus - Blood In, Blood Out

2020 is set to be an unforgettable year for British and European thrash metal-heads – three legendary pioneers of the genre have announced that they will be touring throughout next spring. Hitting the road will be no other than the Bay Area’s very own TESTAMENT, EXODUS and DEATH ANGEL – who have all teamed up to bring the catchily dubbed ‘The Bay Strikes Back‘ tour to our shores!

The tour started yesterday in Copenhagen and will go thru Stockholm, Sweden this evening and end in Hannover, Germany on the 11th of Mars, see the rest of the tour below.

Yesterday we had TESTAMENT and today we put focus on EXODUS, guess what we will have for tomorrow?? 😁

TESTAMENT’s Chuck Billy commented:

“It’s finally happening!!!! All of us have spoken over the years of how killer it would be to tour together and bring Bay Area Thrash Metal across the world and we are starting in Europe. I’m sure I can speak for all three bands in saying that we are proud of where we all came from and we are still delivering some of the best thrash metal we can to the fans. Be ready for the Bay Area Strikes Back Tour 2020.”

And Gary Holt from EXODUS:

“I am fired up to FINALLY return to Europe with Exodus! Along with our Bay Area friendsTestament and Death Angel! An epic tour for the ages! Looking forward to crushing everyone Bay Area style! See you there!!! I cannot wait!”

DEATH ANGEL’s Rob Cavestany added:

“We couldn’t be more excited to announce our upcoming tour with Testament andExodus! Bay Area Thrash Attack in full force! All three bands have been close friends for decades and our mutual respect is of the highest level. That said, we will surely push each other to go beyond expectations each and every night. This is a first – the three of us have never toured together in the same package… it’s about time! See you in the pit!”

Both TESTAMENT and EXODUS are currently working on the follow-up to their 2016 (TESTAMENT – "Brotherhood Of The Snake") and 2014 (EXODUS – "Blood In, Blood Out") albums, while DEATH ANGEL will be touring in support of their most recent record, 2019’s "Humanicide".

EXODUS is an American thrash metal band formed in 1979 in Richmond, California. They have gone through numerous lineup changes, two extended hiatuses, and the deaths of two former band members. Their current lineup consists of guitarists Gary Holt and Lee Altus, bassist Jack Gibson, drummer Tom Hunting, and lead vocalist Steve "Zetro" Souza. Hunting is one of the original members, and departed from EXODUS twice, in 1989 and 2004, but rejoined in 2007. Holt joined the band about two years after its formation and is the only member of EXODUS to appear on all their releases.

The band is currently writing a follow-up album, tentatively due for release in 2020.

Today's tune "Blood In, Blood Out" is the title track from the tenth studio album by American thrash metal band EXODUS. It was released on October 14, 2014 through Nuclear Blast, and is the band's first album with vocalist Steve "Zetro" Souza since 2004's "Tempo Of The Damned". The album also saw a reunion with original guitarist Kirk Hammett, who plays the guitar solo on "Salt the Wound". "Blood In, Blood Out" received generally favorable critical reviews, and it entered the Billboard 200 at number 38—the band's highest U.S. chart position to date. EXODUS promoted the album with its first concert tour with Souza since he left the band in 2004, due to a feud with guitarist Gary Holt.

Annihilator – Twisted Lobotomy

Canadian Heavy/Thrash Metal band ANNIHILATOR will release their sixteenth studio album, "For The Demented", on November 3. The follow-up to 2015's "Suicide Society" will be available in a limited-edition digipack with lenticular cover, a jewel-case CD, a twelve-inch, 180-gram colored vinyl in gatefold and digital download.

This will be the band's first studio album with bassist Rich Hinks, who co-produced and co-engineered the album, and drummer Fabio Alessandrini.

Over a year after the release of Suicide Society (2015), ANNIHILATOR began working on a follow-up album. Founding member and guitarist Jeff Waters told Metal Wani in December 2016,

"On the next one, the changes I'm gonna make… I only said two things. I've got all these people telling me, 'You've gotta go back to this album,' or that album, or that album, or that album. 'You've gotta do this,' 'You've gotta do that.' So what I do is I block it out. But I've decided that I'm going to not worry about catchy, commercial choruses — 'commercial,' as in you remember it, where you intentionally make that chorus the most important part of the song and you want people to remember that one every time. That kind of is the opposite of what I used to do in the earlier days. In the earlier days, I would go, 'I don't care about the chorus being the main part; I want the whole song to be cool.' So therefore the choruses were not as commercial or catchy. And they remained heavy back then; the choruses would end up being heavy. Whereas on my "Suicide Society" record I just did, you could have a heavy song, but then you hit the chorus and you go, 'Woah, that's pretty mainstream stuff in the choruses.' And the other thing was, since I'm such a fan of so many bands, I let myself go a little bit on the last album with being too blatantly obvious with my influences and my musical loves as a fan. So you really heard a song that had a lot of the "Master of Puppets" era of music from METALLICA, and you really heard a MEGADETH song on there, and you really heard in my vocals some Hetfield and Mustaine-isms. And I think that was great, as a fan, to get it out, but I think I need to do more of my own thing on the next record."

In February 2017, Waters said that the sixteenth ANNIHILATOR studio album was being co-produced and co-engineered by bassist Rich Hinks, making it the "first time I've actually had somebody else in the studio since 1990 (Never, Neverland) working with me on stuff."

On September 12, 2017, it was announced that the album, now titled "For the Demented", will be released on November 3; more details on the album, including track listing and artwork, and the music video for "Twisted Lobotomy" were released on the same day. In support of "For the Demented", ANNIHILATOR (along with DEATH ANGEL) will open for TESTAMENT on the European Brotherhood of the Snake tour, which will take place in November and December 2017.

Since 1989, ANNIHILATOR have not stopped putting out records and touring the world. Despite the ever-changing climate of the metal world (and releasing a series of "different" metal records with various lineups along the way), Waters and company have consistently delivered strong albums since the band's debut, "Alice In Hell". Then there was 1990's best-selling "Never, Neverland", 1995's "King Of The Kill", "Schizo Deluxe" in 2005 and many other critically acclaimed releases up until "Suicide Society". The "under-the-radar" influence of this band, and Waters, has been felt throughout the entire realm of the metal world by a ton of well-known musicians and bands; that influence even stretching into the hard rock and instrumentalist genre.
Waters, in his usual humble manner, offers this in response: "ANNIHILATOR's music has been influenced by a good hundred of my favorite bands and musicians; you can hear their contributions to what I have been doing all throughout ANNIHILATOR's catalog. It's a bonus and an honor when bands and musicians I love mention that I had something to do with their playing or songs!"

ANNIHILATOR is:

Jeff Waters (vocals, guitar)
Fabio Alessandrini (drums)
Rich Hinks (bass)
Aaron Homma (guitar)

Todays tune "Twisted Lobotomy" is the first tune taken from the upcoming album "For The Demented" to be released in November, enjoy!

Revocation - Invidious

Last week was really odd but interesting, where the slightly tougher sound has dominated the stage, but mixed with comedy and English hipsterpop. During the upcoming days I'll try to go through the week with playing some of the bands that have been on stage here in Stockholm, however, it has been very sparingly with pictures, sorry.

First out I need to post this, Jeff Dunham was here last week for a Show at Hovet and it was freaking funny.

Here is a clip with Jeff Dunham - Minding The Monsters

Well, time to leave the funny part and let's kick of with a new acquaintance, Revocation is an American technical death metal band from Boston, Massachusetts. The band was founded by guitarist and vocalist David Davidson, bassist and vocalist Anthony Buda and drummer Phil Dubois-Coyne in 2000. The band was originally known as Cryptic Warning, but it changed its name to Revocation in 2006. The band released four studio albums, Empire of the Obscene, Existence Is Futile, and Chaos of Forms in 2008, 2009, and 2011 respectively, and subsequently signed to Relapse Records. They released a self-titled album, Revocation, in August 2013.

Revocation are currently on tour in Europe with The Black Dahlia Murder and Aborted, in support of their self-titled fourth studio album which was released this past August on Relapse Records. When they return from Europe, Revocation will be back on the road in North America on tour with Death Angel, 3 Inches of Blood, Battlecross and Diamond Plate. The dates start October 18th in San Francisco, CA and run through November 10th in Santa Ana, CA. The band will also play a headline show in Des Moines, IA on October 14th before kicking off the tour.

The show at Klubben was really well played and full of energy and I must say I liked what I heard.

Todays tune "Invidious" is taken from the fourth studio self titled album "Revocation", released on August 5, 2013. The video was shot by David Brodsky (Municipal Waste, Whitechapel, Kylesa) at a sold out hometown show.
