The Halo Effect - Feel What I Believe

THE HALO EFFECT, the new project featuring five former members of the Swedish metal band IN FLAMES and DARK TRANQUILLITY. — Jesper Strömblad (guitar), Daniel Svensson (drums), Peter Iwers (bass), Niclas Engelin (guitar) and Mikael Stanne (vocals) — has released its second single, “Feel What I Believe”. The track, the official music video for which can be seen below.

The song is basically about how it felt growing up and discovering extreme metal in our late teens. Delving into something that was both frightening and alluring at the same time. And having that as the sole focus as you started playing in a band and in essence decided who you wanted to be. That confidence and laser focus is what still fascinates me I love that this somehow endured over the years. This is basically us at 19 screaming "How don't you understand this?". And even if people around us didn't get it at the time at least they could see our passion for it and that's what this song is about.

The video is also reminiscent of the videos we saw growing up. A bunch of long haired people in an abandoned warehouse playing loud music while trying to look cool basically. What we did here though is bring it to another level thanks to Theo Gabay and his amazing team. I love that it captures the vibe of us playing and really enjoying what we do. Also it looks spectacular.

The band have also announced their first ever tour, accompanying Swedish death metal berserkers AMON AMARTH and US thrashers MACHINE HEAD on 31 dates throughout Europe and the UK. See the dates below.

Dark Tranquillity - The Science Of Noise

The day before midsummer we give you guys a brand new video "The Science Of Noise" from the Swedish melodic death metal band from Gothenburg, DARK TRANQUILLITY.

The Video is taken from the tenth full-length studio album "Construct", released May 27, 2013. The album was written during what the band described as their "darkest period" and drew critical praise for its melodrama and darkness.

DARK TRANQUILLITY is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Gothenburg. They are one of the longest-standing bands from the original Gothenburg metal scene.

DARK TRANQUILLITY was formed in 1989 by vocalist and guitarist Mikael Stanne and guitarist Niklas Sundin, who looked at their influences and then decided to form their own band under the name Septic Broiler. Not long after, three additional members, Anders Fridén, Anders Jivarp and Martin Henriksson, joined the line-up.

Dark Tranquillity - Uniformity

New week, which means it's time to crown a new album that may wear the title of Record Of The Week.

The Swedish melodic death metalheads "Dark Tranquillity" is back with a new album. "Construct" is the tenth full-length studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity. It was released on May 27, 2013, in Europe, and on May 28, 2013, in North America, through Century Media Records.

Todays tune is the first taste from the album and the band commented on the style of the album, saying, "While still bearing the unmistakable mark of the Dark Tranquillity, the record is probably our most different and diverse offering since 1999's Projector". And I can only agree that this is a bit different, more "experimental" than previous and I do like what I hear, this album grows more and more on every turn.

A music video for "Uniformity", directed by Patric Ullaeus, was released on May 10, 2013.

In Flames - Where The Dead Ships Dwell

My Moment at Sonisphere was In Flames!
I got goose bumps, I sang, I couldnt stand still, I laughed, I screamed (so noone saw it, haha)

Here I stand in the middle of seated people in red.

They were really good, the singer Anders is a great audience man. As he is from Gothenburg and we in Stockholm feel somehow threatened by that city and vice versa, there were some jokes were made about it :D He also told all that go and buy the new album and today in arrived in our mailbox :D LOOOOVE IT!!

Stones were out there and took some pics for me :D

This was In Flames first gig in Sweden after releasing the new album and it sounded darn good, much better than from the album, some band have so much "help" on the album so the live act sounds worse but this wasent the matter in this case. It helped me to LOVE some tunes that I didnt feel that much for b4.

What im trying to point out here is that IT WAS FUCKING GREAT GIG!!!!!!!

For you that dont know so much of In Flames Ill tell you some.

In Flames, along with Dark Tranquillity and At the Gates, pioneered what is now known as melodic death metal. The founding members of all three bands all lived in Gothenburg, Sweden and they were all friends who shared the same musical interests. Eventually, that group of friends branched off into three bands with the same musical direction, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, and At the Gates all goodies.

Jesper Strömblad formed In Flames to write music that combined the melodic guitar style of Iron Maiden with the brutality of death metal, something which Jesper stated he had never heard any band do. In writing songs, Jesper also decided to make use of keyboards, something which was (at the time) uncommon in death metal. Ever since In Flames' debut studio album, Lunar Strain, the band has made use of keyboards, although other extreme metal bands such as Cradle of Filth had been using keyboards years before them. Despite their sometimes heavy use of keyboards in their music, they still refuse to recruit a full-time keyboardist.

Jesper has now left In Flames and a former guitarist Niclas Engelin came back instead, I do like Niclas although I love Jesper and what he done for In Flames I wish him a great future :D
