Gost - Bound By The Horror

The greatest artists are restless souls, in constant need of fresh inspiration.

Once again, in 2021, the dark soul known as GOST is undergoing another dazzling transformation. When touring plans were shelved during 2020’s pandemic fall-out GOST simply returned home and dedicated himself to evolving his skills in a variety of digital media. As a result, the arrival of new album "Rites Of Love And Reverence" coincides with the holistic expansion of his vision. It offers an immersive journey fuelled by dystopian chaos and shrouded in futuristic mystery.

"Rites Of Love And Reverence" is both an album of beautifully crafted songs and a fascinating and intuitively gothic journey, rich with thoughts of supernatural wickedness and real world retribution. In keeping with its dark theme, it arrives adorned with the most stunning image GOST has used to date, created by celebrated doyen of macabre art, Nona Limmen. Both eerily psychedelic and hazily mysterious, it’s the perfect visual representation of this extraordinary record’s grim but vivid depths. The perfect soundtrack to these uncertain and frequently horrifying times, “Rites of Love and Reverence” renders GOST’s post-synthwave exploits in kaleidoscopic technicolor, delivering all the glass-shattering grit, incisive melodic melancholy and tripped-out, electronic fervour that his ever-expanding army of admirers demand. With big plans for a full-scale return to live action in the near future, GOST will be bringing plenty of shocks and surprises when these new songs are unleashed for the first time. The future, as ever, is his to mould at will.

Gost explains, “’A Fleeting Whisper’ is an homage to not only navigating spirituality but simply being human. The uncertainty of life makes living both beautiful and terrifying. We all carry around so many similar insecurities and feelings of doubt in this modern digital age. A time in our history which promises ultimate connectivity seems, all too often, to leave many of us feeling increasingly disconnected and alone.”

"Rites Of Love And Reverence" is set to be released August 13th, 2021 by Century Media Records

So sit tight and be ready for something different and enjoy today tune "Bound By The Horror" taken from the upcoming album "Rites Of Love And Reverence"!

Them - Battle Blood

Thrash metal meets horror/fantasy story is what the German-American act THEM presents in the third part "Return To Hemmersmoor" of the trilogy that was launched back in 2016 on "Sweet Hollow" where the chronicles started the bizarre journey of a man caught between unfortunate circumstance and unspeakable evil. It continued in 2018 with "Manor Of The Se7en Gables". "Return To Hemmersmoor" takes up where the thematic thread of its two predecessors left off and brings the story to a gripping finale, documenting at the same time the band’s unmistakable musical evolvement.

"Possibly the new material is a little tougher and more uncompromising," guitarist Markus Ullrich compares the three recordings. "Being directly involved, we’re too close to really be able to judge. Fact is: the album definitely sounds more mature, which certainly has to do with the songwriting as well as with our general approach. From the start, Them have worked in a very focussed manner according to a definite plan. For that kind of targeted strategy you really need the right line-up consisting of accomplished musicians that are one hundred per cent behind the concept. Them totally fulfils all those conditions."

THEM originally formed in 2008 by vocalist Troy as a KING DIAMOND tribute band, performing for three and a half years with over 20 shows including performances with Mike Wead and Hal Patino from KING DIAMOND. After returning from several other projects, Troy started to create a concept idea in 2014 and moulded a story, band, album and show around it.

Today's tune "Battle Blood" is taken from the new album "Return To Hemmersmoor", released October 30th, 2020, enjoy!

King Diamond - Welcome Home

Sunday, time for another classic horror tune.

"Them" is the third studio album by Danish heavy metal band KING DIAMOND, released in 1988 via Roadrunner Records. It is the first album to feature guitarist Pete Blakk and bassist Hal Patino. The album has sold over 200,000 copies in North America alone.

"Them" is the first of two fictional concept albums about King and his mentally ill grandmother, the second of these being "Conspiracy". King falls into a harrowing descent into madness via his grandmother and the voices in the House of Amon, known to the listener only as "Them".

As the album opens, a young King and his mother and sister are welcoming King's grandmother home from a mental asylum. That night, King investigates strange voices and discovers his grandmother having a tea party seemingly alone, though with the teacups and kettles floating in the air. King is invited into the room, to sit in his grandmother's chair. King is sent back to bed, but only after staring into his grandmother's eyes, whereupon she instructed him to forget what he saw. On another occasion, Grandma awakens King and tells him that she will teach him about Amon, their house, over a cup of tea. Grandma cuts King's sleeping mother's hand and adds her blood to the teapot. The voices of the house ("Them") begin to affect King with a drug-like effect. King's sister Missy tries to convince King that they should do something to help their mother, who is unconscious under "their" power, but his judgment is clouded due to his altered state. He refuses to call for help and cuts the phone line. At tea, Missy interrupts and furiously expresses concern about her mother's state and breaks the teapot. "They", in response to the breaking of "their" teapot, chop Missy into bits with an axe and throw the remains into the fireplace in the kitchen. King is snapped out of his "spell," and he stumbles outside and pieces together the events that transpired.

After fainting and regaining consciousness, he decides to attack his grandmother. He notices that "their" power is weakened outside the house, so he lures his grandmother outside and kills her. The voices of Amon continue to haunt the boy as he is questioned by police and incarcerated in an asylum. Years later, he is released and returns home to find his grandmother and the voices of Amon are still very much alive.

King Diamond - vocals, keyboards
Andy LaRocque - guitar
Pete Blakk - guitar
Hal Patino - bass
Mikkey Dee - drums

Misfits - Halloween

Friday, Halloween, kids ringing on the door and trying to scare me off, with a trick or treat, ridiculous, they don't know how to scare. But my daughter does, she always goes all-in and freaking out our neighbors so I get a call to call her dawn and take it easy... hehe noway, let her have fun and scare the shit out of them!!!

"Halloween" is the fifth single by the horror punk band the MISFITS. It was released on October 31, 1981 on singer Glenn Danzig's label Plan 9 Records. 5,000 copies of the single were pressed on black 7-inch vinyl, some of which included a lyrics sheet. This was the first MISFITS release to use their Famous Monsters of Filmland-inspired logo, as well as the first to refer to the band as simply "MISFITS".

The "Halloween" single was the last MISFITS release to include guitarist Bobby Steele. Both songs on the single had been recorded in August 1980 for a planned album. During the sessions bassist, Jerry Only was grooming his younger brother Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein to join the band, and Doyle recorded his own guitar tracks and overdubs separately in addition to Steele's. The tracks were mixed in September, but in October Steele was ejected from the band in favor of Doyle and the planned album was scrapped. Three of the songs were released as the 3 Hits from Hell EP, while "Halloween" and "Halloween II" were released as a single. In 2001 Caroline Records attempted to release the complete sessions as 12 Hits From Hell, but production was called off after DANZIG and Only expressed concerns with the album's layout, packaging, liner notes, mixing, and mastering.

MISFITS are:

Glenn Danzig – lead vocals
Bobby Steele – guitar on "Halloween II"
Jerry Only – bass
Arthur Googy – drums
Doyle – guitar on "Halloween"

Murderdolls - White Wedding

MURDERDOLLS were an American horror punk and heavy metal band, founded during 2002 in Hollywood, California. The band line-up consisted of core members Wednesday 13 and Joey Jordison, while former members included Ben Graves, Acey Slade, Eric Griffin and Tripp Eisen.

The band has released two albums, the first in the form of "Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls" which was released in 2002. The band had limited initial success in the United States, though their album and singles charted well in the United Kingdom and around the same time they picked up a strong following in Japan. Their second album, "Women and Children Last", was released August 31, 2010. Wednesday 13 confirmed the band's split in an interview in July 2013. The sound of the band is made up of their shared influences, which musically are punk rock and as well as from some of the 1970s hard rock acts (such as KISS and ALICE COOPER). The band also share a large interest in horror movies, from which they take most of their images and references. Lyrically, the group most often present themselves in a "tongue-in-cheek" manner, covering topics of necrophilia, grave robbing, cross-dressing, amongst other things.

Together, the band recorded a cover version of Billy Idol's "White Wedding". A promotional video was recorded for it, in which they mocked popstar singing contests such as the Idol series. It was released as a single in the United Kingdom and they even performed it on the premier UK chart show, Top of the Pops, see it below.

Despite rumors to the contrary, this song is not about Idol's actual little sister. "Little sister" is slang for girlfriend. He is singing about a woman/girl he loves marrying someone else while he still loves her. Idol did have a sister who was getting married, but on an episode of VH1 Storytellers, he explained that his sister's wedding simply gave him the idea for the song. Like many of Idol's compositions, he started with the title and wrote the song from there.

Enjoy today's tune!

Wednesday 13 - Blood Sick

WEDNESDAY 13 has unveiled a brand new video for "Blood Sick", the next track to be taken from his forthcoming album, "Condolences", which arrives on 2nd June via new record label home, Nuclear Blast. The follow-up to 2015's "Monsters Of The Universe" was produced by Chris "Zeuss" Harris, who previously worked with WEDNESDAY 13 and guitarist Roman Surman on the 2010 MURDERDOLLS album "Women & Children Last". The artwork was created by Travis Smith (OPETH, KATATONIA, NEVERMORE).

WEDNESDAY 13 who mixes punk rock and metal with kitschy horror imagery and who is formerly one half of the MURDERDOLLS braintrust continues on the same path, horror make-up, spiderweb, half naked women's in their latest video "Blood Sick", see it below.

WEDNESDAY tells us:
"I'm really excited for you all to see the video for "Blood Sick". It was all shot on green screen with director Matt Zane. The song is about a spider torturing a fly in its web before devouring it, and I wanted to try and capture that scenario with the band in a giant spider web. I had this vision in my head when we first wrote the song and it's so cool to see it finally come to life."

WEDNESDAY 13 will hit the road in the end of the month, see all the dates below.

Enjoy today's tune!

Salem's Pot - Pronounce This!

Monday, new week, time to scare up the "Monday Thrill", let me present the "Record Of The Week"

The horror-obsessed Swedish doom rockers SALEM'S POT have returned with a brand new album release "Pronounce This!", an album that receive the great trophy "Record Of The Week". SALEM'S POT walks the same path as GHOST, keep the mysterious and never identifies its band members individually, completely anonymous.

"Pronounce This!" is the second release by the mysterious quintet, an album that spawns between the classic 20's movie "Nosferatu" and the twisted "Kiss of the Damned". The music is very hallucinogenic and should be played a dark evening with a few candles and the full moon lightning up the room. You will instantly feel the horror around the corner, the sense of true evil lurking outside the window when the dark hazy tones flows out from the speakers like heavy thick smoke. It's very melodic, doomy and oozy. The Vocals partly reminds of Magnus Pelander (WITCHCRAFT) way of singing, sometimes like Pelle Almqvist (THE HIVES), well more like a mix between them and the music is something like IN SOLITUDE and HAWKWIND with spice of horror. It's a bit weird and wild, amazing in my ears, you can feel that it's bleed classic horror movies in the songwriting. It's boogie blues with free-form psychedelia that touches the classic NWOBHM, catchy melodies that hooks you. Key tracks are the almost 13 minutes long killer tune "Coal Mind", the album opener "Tranny Takes A Trip" a fuzzy and trippy piece and totally odd country track "So Gone, So Dead" and album closer "Desire". "Pronounce This!" is SALEM'S POT breakthrough, nuff said.

Pronounce This! is available on LP, CD and download, released on July 22nd via RidingEasy Records.

Sum: Over 50 minutes of heavy spooky rock n roll to steal your soul.

Today's tune "Tranny Takes A Trip", the album opener, enjoy!
