A record that has grown a lot the last months and I just dig it. I guess the secret is the wide musical palette, well-written tunes and an awesome song craft. A great genre mixture where the flow is magnificent without feeling the slightest contrived. Well done guys!

New week, time to introduce the last "Record Of The Week" of 2015.
"Psychic Warfare" is the eleventh studio release from the Maryland rockers CLUTCH. The album was released on October 2nd, 2015, through the band's own label Weathermaker Music. It was produced and mixed by Machine (aka Gene Freeman), who also worked with the band on previous albums Pure Rock Fury, Blast Tyrant and Earth Rocker. The album package features photography and artwork by Dan Winters, who has been collaborating with CLUTCH since their 1993 debut album Transnational Speedway League.
That the band kicks live is almost a Guarantee, at least all the times that I have seen them performed and that is many, 10+ at least. The band have always delivered a great show, they really know how to give the audience a great time and a memory for a long time. I was lucky to get a chance to tour with them together with HONG FAUX.

The band is based out of Frederick, Maryland, originating in Germantown, Maryland. They met while in high school in Germantown and consider themselves a Frederick-based band where they write/rehearse for every album/tour. The band formed in 1991. Since its formation the band line-up has included Neil Fallon (vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards), Tim Sult (lead guitar, backing vocals), Dan Maines (bass, backing vocals) and Jean-Paul Gaster (drums and percussion). To date, Clutch has released eleven studio albums, and several rarities and live albums. As of 2008 the band have been signed to their own record label, Weathermaker
CLUTCHs last record, 2013’s "Earth Rocker" was a real triumph, It was probably the most accessible and playful album in their musical history so far. With the "Psychic Warfare" they take the next step on their variegated way. The album is wide-ranging collection of well known CLUTCH crazy punchlines signed by Fallon and pummelling riffs that kicks ass.
That "Psychic Warfare" is packed with great tunes on the album, is almostobviouseven before you've listened through it, is that right then? Hell yes, they have delivered a solid album full of leg shaking craziness.
There are a few tunes that stands out like “X-Ray Visions” and "Firebirds" but there are other highlights like the groovy “Your Love Is Incarceration", "Noble Savage" and "Behold the Colussus". But that's not all, tunes like "A Quick Death in Texas" is a great piece and the modern "Sucker for the Witch".
The album keeps consistently a really good class and makes it really pleasant to listen through. Fallon's raspy and crunchy vocals still have a great attitude along with tasteful rhythms and beefy riffs.
Summary: Psychic Warfare is an album that fits most rockers record shelf.

Saturday, let's continue in the trail of PLANET OF ZEUS and the Tour with HONG FAUX and CLUTCH. The other support act during this tour was the Swedish heavy metal/stoner band BOMBUS, from Gothenburg. With a upcoming 3:rd album they played 3 new tunes mixed up with some classic BOMBUS rockers. That BOMBUS guys rocks both on stage and in private is great, make life so much easier if you can work together. Anyway, they delivered a kick ass performance and I really looking forward to the new/upcoming album. Here comes some cool pictures from the Soundcheck and the show, enjoy!
BOMBUS are a heavy metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden. Bombus initially signed to Mourningwood Recordings and their debut album "Bombus" before signing to Century Media on 10 April 2013; releasing another single "Apparatus", on 6 May 2013 and their second studio album "The Poet and The Parrot" on 26 September 2013. The third album "Repeat Until Death", which is scheduled for worldwide release through Century Media Records on February 26th, 2016. The album is mastered by Jens Bogren (OPETH, AMON AMARTH, ARCH ENEMY). The Artwork was created by Ulf Lundén.

Friday, Lucia is done with the kids, Pizza was ordered and eaten, got a beer in my hand and Greek Vinyl is spinning on the record player and I feel free, a lovely evening that I hope will last for a few hours and I'm really looking forward to a free weekend without any musts.
A few days ago I returned from a trip in Europe with HONG FAUX and CLUTCH. A tour were I returned to venues that I already visit before, always nice to bump into folks that you already have met once, make things much easier. During this tour there was two bands that shared the support, the first band that did we did two shows with was the heavy rock, southern metal band PLANET OF ZEUS from Athens, Greece. A cool bunch of guys that really rocked live, where the last show at Grosse Freiheit 36 was a killer were the guys gave everything they had. A thrill to see them play.
I wish them luck with forthcoming music creations and I hope we see each other soon again.

The band formed in 2000 and since then have extensively toured around Greece, playing in every venue possible, ranging from shitholes to stadiums. Their raw, sincere and constantly evolving live performances have secured them a loyal and hardcore underground following base, which exceeds Greece's geographical boarders and has led them to sharing the stage with acts like HERMANO and Brant Bjork, MONSTER MAGNET, KARMA TO BURN, EYEHATEGOD, CHURCH OF MISERY. Their highly successful 2011 Greek tour, which included all Greek major cities, their participation in the Stoned from the Underground Festival in Germany and their cult music videos led to this year's sold out PLANET OF ZEUSs Athenian concert. A concert which took place in front of an 800 people audience.
PLANET OF ZEUS have released 3 albums. “Eleven the hard way”, in April 2008 through Casket Music/ Copro Records (UK) and “Macho Libre”, in May 2011, through B-Otherside Records. Both albums have sold-out and are waiting to be re-released. The latest and 3:rd release was "Vigilante" in April 2014. PLANET OF ZEUSs songs have been also featured in several underground compilations such as the Spinalonga vol. 1&2. Both albums have received attention and reviews beyond expectation.

Monday, New week, time to present "Record of The Week".
"A Message from Dystopia" is the 3:rd release from the Swedish quartet HONG FAUX.
A band that have visited Tune Of The Day more than once, they are almost known as the "house band" nowadays :)
"A Message from Dystopia" is an album with a pretty wide musical palette, well-written tunes and an awesome song craft where the starting point is classic 70s rock, the songs have a grunge-like structure and pop harmonies with some stoner elements and heavy melodies, a great genre mixture where the flow is magnificent without feeling the slightest contrived.
The musicianship between the guys is like they have lived forever together :) The powerful voice of the singer Nik Serén is a trademark of its own, he sings clearly and brilliant. A voice that you will remember, that's for sure. Björn Billgren's guitar sound is Gibson classic and he delivers some real crunchy riffs on the album. The backing vocals are done by the bass player Johan Bergqvist who also sets the ground to the band in excellent way. For the final, an very prominent drumming by Daniel Israelsson (who is now replaced by Jonathan Hummelman who is an excellent replacement to keep the groove going).
"A Message from Dystopia" continues on the path they created on their last album "Hello Neptune". Tracks like "Peter & Anne", "Scars" and "No Exit" are pure rockers and could be songs from the same drawing table as the rest on that album. "Coming Through the Rye" is one of softer tunes on the album, an amazing tune that really grows to a new level live. The latest single/video "From Now to Never More" is a real blast, catchy son of a bitch with an effective hook. The title track and the album closer is an piece of art, soft, quiet, acoustic beauty. The production is very good and sounds amazing on my record player. The album is produced by Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, IN FLAMES)
Summary: An album that should be mandatory in every rockers/poppers record collection, "A Message From Dystopia" is really worth listening to, so check it up!

The band has alsogone through a line-up change since Daniel Israelsson left the band. Jonathan Hummelman replaces Daniel behind the drums.

Since their formation in 2009, the young members of SKRAECKOEDLAN have left a big footprint in the Swedish underground scene. In 2011 the critically acclaimed debut album “Äppelträdet” was released on Transubstans Records. The follow up record "Sagor", is set to be released June 10th 2015. In cooperation with the association Blå Huset, they present a release gig in their hometown Norrköping. The evening offers three awesome bands (SKRAECKOEDLAN, HONG FAUX and SKURK) and a real party!
SKRAECKOEDLAN serves you a buffet of heavy fuzz rock with its roots deeply planted in the riffing of BLACK SABBATH, the 90’s pop choruses of WEEZER and MASTODONs modern progressive metal. Combine this with lyrics in Swedish and a cryptozoological theme and you have a fraction of a description of SKRAECKOEDLANs sound. We’re thrown on a musical space ship in orbit around the solar system, where the melodies are in the centre and the dreamlike atmosphere always stays persistent.
Since their inception, SKRAECKOEDLAN have done over 120 shows in both Sweden and the rest of Europe. Mostly on their own but also as a support act for KYLESA, ORANGE GOBLIN and TRUCKFIGHTERS.
The upcoming album "Sagor" have been recorded in several studios during a two years period. They have been worked with technicians and producers such as Daniel Bergstrand (IN FLAMES, MESHUGGAH) and Niklas Berglöf (GHOST, DEN SVENSKA BJÖRNSTAMMEN). Erik Berglund has mixed it all and been an important part of finding the perfect sound for the record.
During the creation of "Sagor" did the band get in contact with Anders Friden (IN FLAMES) and his record label Razzia Notes, which will release the upcoming album.

Oi, almost forgot completely, I need to share some D-A-D.
A song that was not played live during the tour, but that is incredible both musically and lyrically, a real favourite if you ask Nik Serén in Hong Faux and I can only agree it's beautiful. One of the strongest tunes they have made, to bad that they didn't play it Live during this run as this should be included in the set, always. Just listen to the melotrone...oh it really get me goose bumps.
D-A-D is a Danish rock band known as "Disneyland After Dark", a name that had to be changed after a threatening lawsuit from The Walt Disney Company. Their style of music is often categorized as melodic heavy rock. They have also used the names D.A.D., D•A•D and D:A:D, each name representing a period in the band's history.

Todays tune "Something Good" is taken from the seventh album "Everything Glows", released on April 13, 2000, and was the first album with new drummer Laust Sonne. With the release of this album the band also changed the spelling of the band from D:A:D to the current D-A-D.
