Skraeckoedlan - Cactus

Category four (Good although they sing in Swedish) is up for today, taken from the annual hard rock evening that always occur on eve of Twelfth Night.

Another odd category, pretty fun and really hard for some hehe. This one was pretty easy, I actually found the perfect tune almost immediately. As it has been alot of Stoner and Doom for me lately and a bands like the Swedish SKRAECKOEDLAN have been spinning on the record player. The tune for today is "Cactus", taken from the bands debut LP "Äppelträdet", release 2011.

Skraeckoedlan - Flod

Since their formation in 2009, the young members of SKRAECKOEDLAN have left a big footprint in the Swedish underground scene. In 2011 the critically acclaimed debut album “Äppelträdet” was released on Transubstans Records. The follow up record "Sagor", is set to be released June 10th 2015. In cooperation with the association Blå Huset, they present a release gig in their hometown Norrköping. The evening offers three awesome bands (SKRAECKOEDLAN, HONG FAUX and SKURK) and a real party!

SKRAECKOEDLAN serves you a buffet of heavy fuzz rock with its roots deeply planted in the riffing of BLACK SABBATH, the 90’s pop choruses of WEEZER and MASTODONs modern progressive metal. Combine this with lyrics in Swedish and a cryptozoological theme and you have a fraction of a description of SKRAECKOEDLANs sound. We’re thrown on a musical space ship in orbit around the solar system, where the melodies are in the centre and the dreamlike atmosphere always stays persistent.

Since their inception, SKRAECKOEDLAN have done over 120 shows in both Sweden and the rest of Europe. Mostly on their own but also as a support act for KYLESA, ORANGE GOBLIN and TRUCKFIGHTERS.

The upcoming album "Sagor" have been recorded in several studios during a two years period. They have been worked with technicians and producers such as Daniel Bergstrand (IN FLAMES, MESHUGGAH) and Niklas Berglöf (GHOST, DEN SVENSKA BJÖRNSTAMMEN). Erik Berglund has mixed it all and been an important part of finding the perfect sound for the record.

During the creation of "Sagor" did the band get in contact with Anders Friden (IN FLAMES) and his record label Razzia Notes, which will release the upcoming album.

The band consist of:

Henrik Grüttner (Guitaring, backup singing)
Martin Larsson (Drumming)
Robert Lamu (Singing/guitaring)
Tim Ångström (Bassing/backup singing)

Todays tune "Flod" is the first taste from the upcoming album, the tune was released May 22. The tune sounds really promising, looking forward to hear the full album.

Skraeckoedlan - Äppelträdet

 

Skraeckoedlan is a fuzzrock quartet from Norrköping, Sweden. They formed in the early spring of 2009 with the ambition to play groovy rock'n'roll with a touch of doom.

Their debut album; a ten track album called "Äppelträdet" (The Apple Tree) was released in 2011 on the Swedish record label Transubstans Records.

This is a straight stoner rock spiced with classic hard rock riffs. As a new stung lizard, growling guitars takes this record forward towards the apple tree. With a straightforward vocals on Swedish that ties it all together in a brilliant way. That you will think of Truckfighters when you hear this is not surprising given that the producer is none other Oskar Cedermalm from Truckfighters.

A really good debut, I must say, an album that I have nothing more than to recommend to all Stoner freaks out there.
