Lamb Of God - Lamb Of God

Monday, new week, it's time to introduce "Record Of The Week".

"Lamb Of God" is the self-titled tenth studio album by American groove metal band LAMB OF GOD.

LAMB OF GOD has a long musical career, spanning over 20 years and is one of a few metal bands that still stand on both legs and keep the head high.

With the new self-titled album, they really show that they still can create music that is relevant and interesting for the metal scene. It's a really impressive release, it's like they finally found the right step on the long 20 years stairway to the main goal of the band. The sound is great, the riffs are awesome, the vocals are brutal and angry, except when Randy Blythe's gears down and offers some clean vocals in the opening tune "Memento Mori" that sounds more natural than ever. A tune that opens with "Goth" dipped intro until it "wakes up" in a scream, a melodic and very catchy thing, driven by Mark Morton's unforgiving guitar and brutality of Randy Blythe's screams, the cruel, and the tight rhythm section of guitarist Willie Adler, bassist John Campbell, and drummer Art Cruz (PRONG, KLOGR) who steps in after the founding drummer Chris Adler signs out. A few close friends are teaming up, TESTAMENT's frontman Chuck Billy joins in on the trashy "Routes" and HATEBREED’s Jamey Jasta on the metalcore "Poison Dream". The groovy lead single "Checkmate" is energic heavy Thunderball, which is followed by another attacker "Gears" and the bone-cracking "Reality Bath". A really impressive start that is not going to end here, tunes like the metal swagger "New Colossal Hate" that offers lovely guitar picking riffage and rising screams from deep valleys, to loud "Nails In the foot" cries. The heavy "Resurrection Man" that with its stone grinding sound, pushing forward like a steamroller. The album closes up with the blackened explosive piece "On The Hook". Overall it's an excellent release from a band I had almost counted out, but very happy that I gave it a chance and I got totally run over, wow, haha.

Sum: A very powerful release from LAMB OF GOD.

Today's tune "Gears" is taken from the self-titled album, released on June 19, 2020, enjoy!
