High Spirits – Hard To Stop

Monday, a new week and it's time to present the "Record Of The Week".

"Hard To Stop" is the fourth full-length release by the Chicago based Chris "The Professor" Black's HIGH SPIRITS. A band that has delivered high-energy rock music that really kickstarts any old fart around this globe and now, finally they are back again with a new glorious 34-minute slab of hard-rocking, fist-shaking, foot-stomping positive ear candy, a record that comes in the right time when the depression is starting to peak around the world.

"Hard To Stop" is an excellent release from HIGH SPIRITS and the hard-working Chris Black that has been so creative this year that he had already released two new albums, in February he released "Placebo" with his science-fiction prog project AKTOR and in March did the album "Snake" arrived with his heavy thrash band DAWNBRINGER and now on July 31, the third album "Hard To Stop" with HIGH SPIRITS, absolutely crazy.

The album has been spinning the whole weekend, got it one day before release thru High Roller Records and I'm totally sold, it just makes me so happy inside that I glow like a candle as my wife refers to me. The true essence of the band's tunes is the mix between melodic hard rock and traditional heavy metal where the harmonies are the key to create a groovy energetic rhythm where Chris craftsmanship is just stunning, lovely solos, twin guitars, big choruses, well-executed vocals, excellent heavy upbeat drumming, and a neat and clear bass lick.

The album opens with the bombastic "Since You've Been Gone", no it's not a RAINBOW cover 😁. It's high octane and very catchy tune, galloping rhythm that rushes forward like the 86' Buick Regal Grand National, great chorus and wonderful riffing. Followed by "Restless", another catchy power rocker that will keep your feet bump along. "Face To Face" is a groovy rocker with a lovely guitar solo. "Hearts Will Burn" is a power rocker in the true American way. In the middle part of the album and in the tune "Voice In The Wind" does he shows another direction of the band with this punk rocker that sounds something between LOU REED and IGGY POP. The album gets back on track with "All Night Long", high octane riffs, catchy lyrics, and great drum fills. "Midnight Sun" is another groovy, slight doomy piece. The rocker "Now I Know", is a great heavy upbeat piece with fast drumming, long repetitive riffs that make my blood bubble in time. The album closes with the rocking anthem "We Are Everywhere". "Hard To Stop" is simply another excellent album of HIGH SPIRITS. Highly Recommended!

Sum: During these times, this is something you NEED!

My Vinyl is a beautiful Clear one with blue splatter!

Today's tune "Restless" is taken from "Hard To Stop", enjoy!
