Jono - Crown

Swedish band JONO started as a solo project of singer Johan Norrby (hence the moniker ”JoNo”), who has been singing, writing, and playing music in various bands and projects over the years. This applies also for all the other members of the band. Guitarist Stefan Helleblad is a member of Dutch symphonic sensations WITHIN TEMPTATION, Drummer Nicka Hellenberg also played all the drums on WITHIN TEMPTATIONs "The Unforgiving" and has an impressive resume involving bands and recordings. Both keyboard player Johan Carlgren and bass player Janne Henriksson are frequently hired for both live and studio sessions. Leo Olsson – also a busy musician – joined the band in 2015.

JONO’s music is hard to pinpoint. Maybe it's best described as melodic rock with symphonic and progressive elements, always based on strong melodies with bombastic arrangements. Dynamics and a contemporary, fat sound are important ingredients in the JONO musical recipe. Their music has been said to show the influence of great artists like Queen, Supertramp, Kansas, Journey and Sparks, but above all the band has received a lot of credit and praise because of their unique sound.

The band says: 'We are very thrilled and proud about our cooperation with Frontiers Music Srl, a label which is home to so many great artists we truly respect and admire. As a band, this is an excellent opportunity to reach the international markets we've been aiming for. We can't wait to release the coming album, and of course hit the stage to be heard and seen by a wider audience, meeting with old and new fans. See you all out there!'

In 2016 the band signed a deal with Frontiers Records Srl. Next album will be released on the Frontiers label in December the 1:st

Jono - Clear

The Swedish band JONO started as a solo project of singer Johan Norrby (hence the moniker ”JoNo”). A record was made and released in 2006, involving some of the members of today’s band setting. JONO as a band started out at that point and has carried on ever since.

Singer and songwriter Johan Norrby has been singing, writing and playing music in countless bands and projects for years and years – which very much goes for all of the guys in the band.
The guitarist, Stefan Helleblad, is also a member of Dutch symphonic rockstars WITHIN TEMPTATION. The drummer Nicka Hellenberg actually played all the drums on WITHIN TEMPTATIONs album "The Unforgiving" and is involved in several band settings and recordings. Both keyboard player Johan Carlgren and bass player Janne Henriksson are frequently hired for both live and studio sessions. Leo Olsson – also a busy musician – joined the band in 2015.

JONO’s music is hard to pinpoint. Maybe it is best described as AOR/Progressive rock, based on strong melodies, with symphonic arrangements. Dynamics and a contemporary, fat sound are also important ingredients of the JONO recipe.

A few weeks ago it got confirmed that JONO have signed an album deal with the Italian record company Frontiers Records.

JONO consists of:

Johan Norrby – Lead vocals
Stefan Helleblad – Guitars
Nicka Hellenberg – Drums
Johan Carlgren – Keyboards
Janne Henriksson – Bass
Leo Olsson – Guitars

Today's tune "Clear" is taken from the bands latest album "Silence", released 2015. The Video is produced & directed by Sandra Fröberg, the actor beside the band is Sandra Ahlqvist. For the Video "Clear" they wanted to create something other than a classic video where the band, for example, is playing in an empty warehouse. The Spirit of the song has something dramatic and fateful about it.

Deathstars - Explode

The Swedish industrial rock band Deathstars returns with a blast when they release their long anticipated fourth studio album "The Perfect Cult", on June 13th.

For the upcoming new output, Deathstars finally managed to give themselves the needed time span to work in a calm and methodic manner, fully exploring the music writing process which might have resulted in the most dramatic Deathstars album to date.

"The Perfect Cult" has been captured in several studios: drums, guitars and bass were recorded in Bohus Sound Recording, Kungälv Sweden, vocals in Gig Studios in Stockholm, Sweden and keyboards, orchestration and editing was done in Black Syndicate, Stockholm. While the mix as usual was handled by legendary Stefan Glaumann (Rammstein, Within Temptation), guitarist/keyboardist Nightmare took care of the production from bottom to top. For the drum-, guitar- and bass-production, Nightmare worked together with Roberto Laghi (Entombed, In Flames) at Bohus Sound Recording.

The Mastering was done by Svante Forsbäck (Volbeat, Rammstein) at Chartmakers, Helsinki, Finland.

As far as the lyrics are concerned vocalist Whiplasher states that "all the tracks are about our lives. Each song is a reflection on a situation or a topic that deals with our experiences, usually from a jet black perspective."

With visions inspired by amoral excessive lives, human fears and decay, the songs will be nothing less than a dark playground set between straight forward tracks, atmospheric anthems and the unwashed loins of lawless rock.

Todays tune "Explode" is the second tune out from the group's fourth studio album, "The Perfect Cult", which will be released on June 13 via Nuclear Blast.

Within Temptation - Paradise (What About Us?) ft. Tarja

Within Temptation joined forces with Tarja for the first single of the band's new studio album to be released in January 2014.

On August 30th, the band announced that the lead single Paradise (What About Us?) would be released as an EP, which is also set to feature 3 tracks from the upcoming album in their demo form, being them "Let Us Burn", "Silver Moonlight" and "Dog Days". Upon making this announcement, den Adel said: "By releasing these demos we want to invite you in our home studio and show how we capture song ideas at an early stage of creating a new album. These demo versions are far from their final sound on the album, but will give you a hint of what we’re working on. It will be fascinating to hear how the end result will sound like, once the album is released.". After announcing that the lead single would contain a guest musician, on September 13th the band officially announced that Tarja Turunen was set to appear as a special vocalist on the title song. The EP was released on September 27th.

Within Temptation will be on tour in 2014:

Vicious Rumors - Murderball

Tonight, slamming it to the Arenan here in Stockholm with metal of high class, Hammerfall, Vicious Rumors, Death Destruction and Amaranthe. Do you have nothing to do tonight? so comb your hair, put on the jeans jacket and get to the Arenan. It will certainly become a hi thundering concert.

The idea was that we would write about Within Temptation today, but there is so much now as we try to poke into it tomorrow instead. Today, you get a short one as we both are on the run.

Vicious Rumors is an American power metal band founded in 1979 in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.

Todays tune "Murderball" is taken from the tenth album Razorback Killers, released in 2011.

Triggerfinger - All This Dancin’ Around

Yesterday, did Stockholm got visited by no less than Within Temptation who played in a nearly sold-out Arenan here in Stockholm, but more on that tomorrow. Today we check out the support act which was a pleasant surprise. A fiery threepiece Dutch band called "Triggerfinger" consisting of a trio of guitarist and singer Ruben Block, drummer Mario Goossens and bassist Paul Van Bruystegem. Now, it takes some grit - and style - to be dubbed “the loudest band in Antwerp”, and in some ways the moniker is a testament to their past efforts; which have built up a considerable and loyal following in the Lowlands. (If you have any doubts about the powerful and multidimensional sound they can command, just give their live LP Faders Up (2007) a spin). But sights are now being set further afield from this great Flemish city, especially with the release on Excelsior Recordings - on the 15th of November 2010 - of their third album: All This Dancin’ Around, the follow up to the successful What Grabs Ya? And 2004’s Triggerfinger.

This is a band that have developed the hard way; years of touring the clubs, pubs, festivals and dives of Europe have bred a fierce and uncompromising sound.

Todays tune is the title track of "All This Dancin’ Around". The album was recorded at the famous Sound City studio in Los Angeles, where Nirvana’s Nevermind was produced. Recording sessions, under the aegis of producer Greg Gordon (a man who has turned his talents to the sounds of Oasis, Wolfmother, Slayer and Soulwax amongst others). Enjoy!

For the Podcast Triggerfinger recorded a live version of the title track from their latest album 'All This Dancin' Around'.
