The Struts - Could Have Been Me

THE STRUTS are an British rock band. Influenced by QUEEN, THE ROLLING STONES, OASIS and THE LIBERTINES, THE STRUTS have been described as "unabashedly over the top retro-fetishist classic rock," "glamourous and dangerous" and as "having a chance to spark a real rock revival with their hooky glam sound, which manages to pay tribute to the classics, while remaining impeccably modern.

Today's tune "Could Have Been Me" was released as the first single from their debut studio album "Everybody Wants". Originally released in 2013, the song began to increase in popularity as the song rose up the American airplay charts in 2015, peaking at no. 5 on the Alternative Songs chart.

The second music video was released on August 22, 2015

Triggerfinger - All This Dancin’ Around

Yesterday, did Stockholm got visited by no less than Within Temptation who played in a nearly sold-out Arenan here in Stockholm, but more on that tomorrow. Today we check out the support act which was a pleasant surprise. A fiery threepiece Dutch band called "Triggerfinger" consisting of a trio of guitarist and singer Ruben Block, drummer Mario Goossens and bassist Paul Van Bruystegem. Now, it takes some grit - and style - to be dubbed “the loudest band in Antwerp”, and in some ways the moniker is a testament to their past efforts; which have built up a considerable and loyal following in the Lowlands. (If you have any doubts about the powerful and multidimensional sound they can command, just give their live LP Faders Up (2007) a spin). But sights are now being set further afield from this great Flemish city, especially with the release on Excelsior Recordings - on the 15th of November 2010 - of their third album: All This Dancin’ Around, the follow up to the successful What Grabs Ya? And 2004’s Triggerfinger.

This is a band that have developed the hard way; years of touring the clubs, pubs, festivals and dives of Europe have bred a fierce and uncompromising sound.

Todays tune is the title track of "All This Dancin’ Around". The album was recorded at the famous Sound City studio in Los Angeles, where Nirvana’s Nevermind was produced. Recording sessions, under the aegis of producer Greg Gordon (a man who has turned his talents to the sounds of Oasis, Wolfmother, Slayer and Soulwax amongst others). Enjoy!

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - The Death Of You And Me

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds is the solo moniker of former Oasis lead guitarist Noel Gallagher. The band originates from Manchester and includes former Oasis session pianist Mike Rowe, drummer Jeremy Stacey of The Lemon Trees and percussionist Lenny Castro. The band also varies guests on their debut album such as the Crouch End Festival Chorus and The Wired Strings.

Via a tip from a friend who thought that I would listen to Noel's new album which I did, without the hint would probably this had fallen between two stools and disappeared in the noise. I thought that Oasis sounded ok, at least on the debut and album two, where after they became really boring.

Big Brother Gallagher goes its own way and must do things their own way: well-orchestrated Gallagher Rock after brit pop all the rules, relatively smooth underlined pop melodies with well-worn but very easy listening. However, there is something that is interesting, excat what I can not put your finger on.

The singles for Gallagher's debut album are "The Death of You and Me", "If I Had a Gun..." and "AKA... What a Life!". The latter made its debut on a Vauxhall television advertisement, and is only to be released as a UK single.

Gallagher announced that he will begin touring a week after the album is released. He stated, "We're going to go out on tour a week after the album is out. We're going to start off slow in small theatres. If it's good enough to get bigger than that then it'll get bigger than that. I don't think there'll be a huge great big tour this year. I think this year it'll be a quick whizz around the world and try and do the major cities and then it will probably be a bigger tour next year."

The video appears to be part of a three video story start with "If I Had a Gun" then "The Death of You and Me" and ending with "AKA... What a Life!" as all the videos end where the other one finished but the videos weren't released in chronological form as the singles came out in a different order.

Todays tune "The Death of You and Me" is was released as the lead single on 19 August 2011.

Gallagher's second album is a collaboration with Amorphous Androgynous, due in late 2012. He said, "It sounds a bit like Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. The sound is similar to High Flying Birds, but more psychedelic and tripped out. It's not an electronic project. People are jumping to that conclusion because Amorphous Androgynous used to be an electronic outfit."
