Pretty Maids are a Danish heavy metal band from Horsens, Denmark. Formed in 1981 by Ronnie Atkins and Ken Hammer. Their sound and music can be described as classic guitar-laden heavy rock with a strong emphasis on melodic elements like vocals and keyboards.
Pretty Maids with almost 30 years of a musical career, now they are back with the latest release and 12th album "Pandemonium". The new album is a great melodic hardrockin album. The songs are solid and they are well written, very fresh and straight. The vocals have a great feeling and is very strong and powerful. The album opens up very strong and heavy and so it will continue, the album have a good feeling and the tunes are very catchy, surrounded with well constructed melodic guitar riffs, thunderous fat sound and pompous keyboards. The latest album release shows that Pretty Maids haven't grown soft with age.
Todays tune "Little Drops Of Heaven" is the first single/video from this new album and is a cool mid-range rocker with a very "commercial" chorus.
Devils Brigade is a side project by Matt Freeman of Rancid. The band, which performs a mix of punk rock and psychobilly, features Freeman on lead vocals and double bass in contrast to the backing vocals and electric bass guitar he typically performs in Rancid. Originally envisioned as a concept album about the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge, Devils Brigade was co-written by Freeman and his longtime bandmate Tim Armstrong, who also played guitar on the album and served as record producer alongside Ryan Foltz. The album also features X drummer DJ Bonebrake and contributions from Rancid's Lars Frederiksen, and was released August 31, 2010 through Armstrong's label Hellcat Records.
Devils Brigade is currently on a United States tour supporting Street Dogs through October 2010. Todays tune is taken from the latest album, enjoy!
Don Van Vliet; born Don Glen Vliet, January 15, 1941 is an American musician and visual artist best known by the stage name Captain Beefheart. His musical work was conducted with a rotating ensemble of musicians called The Magic Band, active between 1965 and 1982, with whom he recorded 12 studio albums. Noted for his powerful singing voice with its wide range, Van Vliet also played the harmonica, saxophone, bass clarinet, piccolo oboe and shehnai. His music blended rock, blues and psychedelia with free jazz, avant-garde and contemporary experimental composition. An iconoclastic mix of complex instrumentation, atonal melodies, and often humorously surreal lyrics, it was crafted through dictatorial control over his musicians and creative vision.
Todays tune Sun Zoom Spark is originally taken from his seventh album "Clear Spot" back in 1972. But this version (Sun Zoom Spark, Acoustic Sessions 1972) is found on Dichotomy.
Phil Collins released his new album "Going Back" in September 2010.
Its a bit different from his others in my ears.
His going back now, to his youth and pick all kinda songs
from there and the mood that was among the Motown peeps.
His voice is perfect for it.
Its a bit slow music for my taste but I do like this guy.
First music I heard from him was under the Genesis time
was the album Foxtrot.I will get in a track with the tune
"Supper's Ready", I loved it.
Peter sing like a god!
Then 1981 when Phil released the Face Value album,
Who Ho! Who didnt love "In The Air Tonight".
That became a number two hit in his native U.K.
(the song was a Top 20 hit in the U.S.).
He begun his carrier 1967 and never left the stage since then.
Collins is one of only three recording artists (along with Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson) who have sold over 100 million albums worldwide both as solo artists and (separately) as principal members of a band.
According to Billboard, when his work with Genesis,
his work with other artists, as well as his solo career is totalled,
Collins has the most top 40 hits on the Billboard charts for the 1980s.
He begun early this chap, he got his first drum kit when he was 5,
who knew he would sell over 100 million albums by then :)
Folks, this is Phil Collins!
Peace, Thetania

Today is a equinox day. An equinox occurs twice a year, when the tilt of the Earth's axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun, the center of the Sun being in the same plane as the Earth's equator. The term equinox can also be used in a broader sense, meaning the date when such a passage happens. The name "equinox" is derived from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night), because around the equinox, the night and day are approximately equally long. It may be better understood to mean that latitudes +L and -L north and south of the Equator experience nights of equal length.
The tune "Equinox" is a jazz standard by John Coltrane. It was originally released on Coltrane's Sound 1960. It has been covered by Jessica Williams, Dave Valentin, Rhoda Scott, Hubert Laws, the last three feature the flute. The Band Clutch has also covered the song, it appears on their 2003 release Slow Hole to China: Rare and Unreleased witch is the version i will choose for today, enjoy!
Live at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto ON. April 2004.
As I didnt have a real TOTD tune that was up to the
expectations that I have on a song thats on the Tune Of The Day.
There is a group who came from Poland of all countries.
They call themselves Coma!
Started up in 1989 in a town called Łódź.
They just released a new album called Excess, its Comas 4th album.
I heard them for the first time today and WoW I really loved it!
(I nicked it from Stones he is doing a review in Swedish on Werock on that album)
The members are:
Piotr Rogucki on Vocals
Rafał Matuszak on bass guitar
Dominik Witczak on guitar
Marcin Kobza on guitar as well
Adam Marszałkowski on drums
Im totally thrilled over how Rafal is handling his bass.
Coma have one gig left on their tour its gonna be in
Warszawa on the 25th of September.
In 2007 Coma supported such bands as Linkin Park, Pearl Jam and Tool.
Later the same year, after a few years on tour the band decided to hide in the mountains, in a place called "Muzyczna Owczarnia" in Jaworki.
There in the care of the wonderful family of the owner of the place,
in the peaceful silence of the Pieniny Mountains they started to work on the material for their third album. When they returned to Łódź they
continued polishing the material during rehearsals.
In spring 2008 Adam Marszałkowski,
known from another band from Łódź - Normalsi,
took place of Tomasz Stasiak on drums and participated actively in
writing of new tracks. Between April and September
2008 all of the compositions were recorded,
and they were released as "Hipertrofia" on 10th of November 2008.
The album soon gained the Platinum Record status and the band went on tour again.
Then 2010 the album Excess came like a bomb!
Dude and Dudettes, here is Coma with Transfusion
(Only Sound couldn't find a video)
Shall we continue on the nostalgic trip from yesterday?
Ill do it anyway... I do like this video not really the music,
but I guess I can like it a bit :D
Paul Simon, I remember my brother had "Bridge over trouble water".
There I was sitting on the floor around 9 or 10 years old, or was I younger?
Ahwell sitting there and singing with the songs as the vinyl had lyrics on em.
That was my first encounter with Paul Simon.
He is still going on as Simon is working on a new album due for a late 2010 release. The album will have bluegrass influence. He must be old now, lemme see...
Shit he is 68 years old... Here is a pic of him from 2007
This Video became known by Chevy Chases involvment in it.
Gosh Paul is a short man and Chevy is huuge :p
Folks lets look at it :D
Enjoy!
Peace, Thetania

I am in a nostalgic mood today.
So I thought I'd play a song that I like very much.
Queen Innuendo.
The style of the music they had, talk me very much.
If you look at how large the spectrum was, they sometimes had
4-5 music styles in one song, Awesome.
And Freddie's voice .. mmmm
Did u know that Montreux have a statue of Freddie Mercury in their town?
Queen's last album featuring Mercury, titled Made in Heaven, was finally released in 1995, four years after his death. It was constructed from Mercury's final recordings in 1991, plus material left over from their previous studio albums. In addition, re-worked material from May, Taylor and Mercury's solo albums were included. The album reached #1 on the UK charts immediately following its release, eventually being certified double platinum there.
The band has released a total of 18 number one albums, 18 number one singles and 10 number one DVDs, and have sold over 300 million albums worldwide, making them one of the world's best-selling music artists.
Ladys and Gents, Queen and Freddie Mercury.
Peace, Thetania

This band its going over and over again in my ipod, specially the album from 2008 "Overcome". So I thought I play some for u. Its pretty good.
All That Remains is an American metal core band from Massachusetts,US. The style of the album differs from their current metalcore musical style, and more prominently contains elements of melodic death metal.
They started up in 1998 and done 4 studio albums since that. The new album will be released on October 12, 2010. Named "For we are many" All That Remains guys are as following:
Philip Labonte – vocals
Mike Martin – rhythm guitar
Oli Herbert – lead guitar
Jeanne Sagan – bass guitar Yes she is a female :)
Jason Costa – drums
with Labonte and Herbert being the only two original members.
The album "Overcome" debuted at #16 on the Billboard 200, and has sold over 200,000 copies, making it their most successful album to date.
This is John Norum, (his son on the left.)
the guy who plays the lead guitar in the Swedish band Europe.
He has made a solo album this year called "Play Yard Blues"
As I said yesterday I do not understand how he had time to do
do that, cos Europe has been on tour most of this year.
You get thoughts of Hendrix at the beginning of this track;
I get goose bums all over.
It's like he gets out all his inherent feelings at the same time.
“PLAY YARD BLUES” is a fantastic collection of John Norum originals as
well as some covers.
This album shows a little different side of John. The trademark sound and riffings are definitely there but John also follows a more bluesy approach in several songs. With the success of the recent Europe album, this album will find it’s way to his already massive fanbase as well as to an audience of say Frank Marino.
Listen to and Enjoy my friends
Love to u all, and Thank u John for this album I love it! Thetania
The band Europe play´d yesterday at the amusement park Gröna Lund in Stockholm. I took some pictures on it, but they eint really perfect as their were too many people in the audience to go through so I stayed mainly on the side :)
I became a Europe fan when they 2004 released "Start from the dark" I was thrilled and astonished!
After that, Europe did 2 more albums Secret Society and Last look at Eden. Both are very good.
I worked as a stagehand and fire guard on the roof. They had big bomb on the roof. This is a picture from the roof :)
The pyro guy was David Wallin. He did a smashing good job! David is also drummer in the band Pain, one of Peter Tägtgrens project band, :)
Joe Tempest felled a bit when he was running around on the stage, this picture below was slightly after, with the Pm beside him, in case of. :)
The set list was as following (the dots are the Big Booom on the roof)
This was Europe last show on their Festival summer. They will do some gig in South America later on this fall. In February they will go to UK.
Thier guitarist John Norum has always been a favorite of mine, he recently did a solo album, (I have no idea how he had the time doing it due to their huge amount of gigs they done this year) Its called "Play Yard Blues" really Hendrix blues :)
Another guy that I love for his humor is Ian Haugland that came onto the band in 1986, playd the drums with them from The Final Countdown and still are. He is also doing radio shows in Stockholm at a program called Rock Klassiker and he does it gooood!
This tune comes from Out of This World and that was released in 1988. The biggest hit from the album was "Superstitious" which peaked at number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 9 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks.
This is the tune that hooked me on Europe "Start from The dark". Its great on the sound but crappy in sight, enjoy! Peace Thetania
