Kreator - Phantom Antichrist

Today the sun is warming as never before and this requires of course a refreshing drink and a little departing from all the music reporting that we have been through, oh yes, I have some gems up in my sleeve, but will return to it later.

There are some updates on WeRock that you can read, I have put my teeth into Danko Jones documentary "Bring on the Mountain" on DVD, while Robert Gustavsson checks Tony Iommis biography "Iron Man - My Journey through Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath." In addition, you can read BiblioteKarins report from the Metaltowns two hardrocking days.

Music for a sunny day like this, Thrash Metal, perhaps?

Kreator is a thrash metal band from Essen, Germany, formed in 1978, but formalized in 1982 under the name Tormentor. They originally performed a speed metal style with Venom influences. Their style of music is similar to their compatriots Destruction and Sodom, the other two big German thrash metal bands. All three of these bands are often credited with helping pioneer death metal, by containing several elements of what was to become the genre. Kreator's work began in the vein of pure thrash metal but ventured into industrial and gothic from 1992 to 1999, before eventually returning to their classic thrash sound to date.

To date, Kreator has released thirteen studio albums, two EPs, one live album and three compilation albums. The band released its debut album Endless Pain in 1985. Although many of their previous albums, including Pleasure to Kill (1986), were quite popular in the United States, Kreator did not experience major American commercial success until the 2009 release of their twelfth studio album, Hordes of Chaos, which peaked at number 165 on the Billboard 200 and debuted at #16 on the Media Control Charts, the band's highest ever chart position in Germany.

Todays tune is the title track from the 13th studio album "Phantom Antichrist". The album was released through Nuclear Blast in June 2012. The digipak edition includes a bonus DVD containing documentary about the making of the album and a live set compiled from Kreator's performances at the Wacken Open Air festivals in 2008 and 2011.

A very limited edition version of the album is available through the Nuclear Blast online store, which comes in a metal box containing the CD+DVD version of the album, an exclusive live album called Harvesting The Grapes of Horror which contains the audio from the live portion of the DVD, a red t-shirt bearing the band's logo and the album title, a photocard signed by Mille Petrozza, an A1 poster of the album artwork, and a numbered certificate of authenticity.

Vinyl Version
The album's title track was released as a limited edition 7" vinyl single, which sold out very quickly. It has since been released digitally. The b-side is an exclusive cover of "The Number of the Beast" by Iron Maiden.

System Of A Down - Chop Suey!

Next band I picking is This... Wonderful cool band full of energy!

One could hear the sound long away from the Black Stage were they performed.
The crowd went totally crazy when they went up stage,
it was a pleasure to hear it.

The band was formed in 1994. It consists of Serj Tankian (lead vocals, keyboards, rhythm guitar), Daron Malakian (guitar, vocals), Shavo Odadjian (bass, background vocals) and John Dolmayan (drums). All four members are of Armenian descent, and are widely known for their outspoken views expressed in many of their songs confronting the Armenian Genocide of 1915 as well as the ongoing War on Terrorism.

In 2005, System of a Down planned something so unique and crazy as releasing two albums during that year, six months apart.
They released Mezmerize, where they again collaborated with Rick Rubin as producer. The album sold 10 million copies worldwide
over. Six months later, Hypnotize was released who became an equally big success.

At the absolute peak of their career, with two topped album in the U.S. sales charts in the same year and millions of albums sold worldwide, System of a Down decided to take a longer break. A pause that lasts until 2011, when they will do some gigs around the world. Metaltown becomes their only gig in Scandinavia!
We are very proud to have them with us at our festival and the audince loved them as well as me :D

Tour:
June 21, 2011 Moscow, Russia Olympisky
October 2, 2011 Rio De Janeiro, Brazil Rock In Rio

Ladys and Gents here are 2 videos from them,

Love to u all, Thetania

Avenged Sevenfold - Buried Alive

Hey there People!
Ive been in Gothenburgh for 4-5 days now...lotsa rain, lotsa weird cab drivers and many many good Metal peeps and Great bands, good cops and a bunch of Show Security personel that worked their ass off to get it safe....Loved it :D

First band that I pick is:

Avenged Sevenfold did a Fantastic gig at Metaltown In Gothenburg couple of days ago, 25.000 folks were raising their devils mark and screamed...Fanatasic view!!!

Four years after their debut album they got their breakthrough in 2005 with third album "City of Evil," in the U.S. alone they sold 1.5 million copies. On tour as opening act for Iron Maiden as well as Guns n Roses did Avenged Sevenfold since their first visit to Sweden.

In the midst of the work of the fifth album "Nightmare" hit the band of the shocking news that drummer James "The Rev" Sullivan tragically passed away. The other members decided to complete the recordings, as part of their grieving process. The result was the darkest and most personal that they ever accomplished. The album became their most successful and went straight into the American sales charts the first place.

I didnt have the opertunity to take any photo Im sorry.. but i stole some others.

Slaughter of the Bluegrass - Blinded By Fear

Slaughter of the Bluegrass from Stockholm, Sweden, it’s a band that plays unplugged versions of death metal songs. They use traditional bluegrass instruments and arrangement ideas and try to keep the essence of each song they cover. Reminds me of Hellsongs who also do remakes off old tunes.

This is what SOTB says about the band:

People ask us why we choose to play metal songs, and we answer them that we just want to play good songs, which in this case happens to be in that particular genre. As it turned out, people who aren't used to hearing growling vocals, guitars drenched is distorsion and heavy drums, could still appreciate these compositions, only in a new form.

Slaughter of the Bluegrass is:

Peter Norlinder: Vocals, banjo, mandolin.
Dan Norman: Acoustic guitar, accordion, percussion, backing vocals.
Hannah Sundqvist: Violin, vocals.
Alexander 'Alke' Lindberg: Drums, percussion, backing vocals.
Niklas ’Nille’ Sandin: Bass, backing vocals.
Tomas Åkvik: Banjo, backing vocals.

As for today, during Metaltown i choosed to pick a song from a band that was suppose to end up a few years back but somehow is back on stage again, im not sure if i should be pissed or happy about it.
Anyway its At The Gates i’m talking about, they will play tonight at Metaltown on Red Stage at 22:00
so if you are there, have fun and tell me how it was.

So pour yourself a cup of moonshine and relax to some great music!

Todays tune ”Blinded By Fear” is originally taken from At The Gates ”Slaughter Of The Soul” and got released back in 1995, todays version is just awesome, done as a hillbilly tune, just hit play and enjoy!

Click here to listen to it right on the spot!
