"Exile Amongst the Ruins", is the latest full-length album by Irish metal band PRIMORDIAL.
2018 marks the twenty-seventh year of the band's seminal career, and returning with their ninth full-length, "Exile Amongst the Ruins," they have lost none of their vitality.

Once again building upon their signature sound, the follow up to 2014's "Where Greater Men Have Fallen" is a more raw, "old school sounding" record than its predecessor. Hitting home with what vocalist A.A. Nemtheanga describes as "a direct energy" and wielding an urgency that is undeniable, the Irish quintet once again effortlessly blends elements of Celtic folk and black metal like no one else. Likewise, the evolution of their sound continues to be organic and unforced, ensuring that "Exile Amongst the Ruins" is essential listening for both their long-term faithful and those only now drawn into their world and they are one of the few bands that produce consistent, passionate, and sincere albums and "Exile Amongst the Ruins" is one of the strongest records so far.

"Exile Amongst the Ruins" clocks in at 1hr 5mins, all spread over 8 tunes. The album starts with "Nail Their Tongues", an intro of Sunday church clocks and Celtic acoustic guitar before the rest of the members joins. Fuzzy bass-lines and great played powerfully guitar riffs and Nemtheangas typical vocals to nail the last puzzle piece. "To Hell Or the Hangman" have a wonderful monotone melody that takes you away from the present time with it's galloping guitars and the energy that makes your heart pumping some extra bpm's. "Where Lie the Gods" slows down a bit, a tune where Nemtheangas vocal capacity gets some more space, around the complex atmospheric melody. The title track, "Exile Amongst the Ruins", a brilliant melancholic piece of music, see the video below. "Upon Our Spiritual Deathbed" is a mournful piece of music with soulful lyrics. "Stolen Years" is a beautiful slow and emotional piece with slow and scary shimmering guitars and very touching vocals. "Sunken Lungs" lets loose of the energy again with its rolling drums and the turbulent melody. The album closes up with the longest composition "Last Call", it begins quietly and slow with one laidback guitar and sparse drumming before the cup is overflowing, a strong end to an equally strong album that is well worth the time it might take to let it absorb in.

Sum: PRIMORDIAL have released a masterpiece, an emotional and perfectly crafted album that should get more attention and if I would give out scores then this would be 10/10.

Moonsorrow - Suden Tunti

Jumalten aika ("Age of Gods") is the upcoming seventh full-length album by Finnish pagan metal band MOONSORROW. It is planned for release on April 1, 2016. The first tune out of it is "Suden Tunti" that you can watch below.

The new album will also include two covers, "Soulless" (GRAVE cover) and "Non Serviam" (ROTTING CHRIST cover)

MOONSORROW is a pagan metal band formed in Helsinki, Finland, in 1995. Musically, the band incorporates elements of black metal and folk metal in their sound. The band call their sound "epic heathen metal" and try to distance themselves from the term "Viking metal". They have distanced themselves from other folk metal bands, emphasizing that their music is pagan and spiritual and is challenging for its listeners, rather than happy or danceable. The band members have varying levels of pagan belief but they draw on pagan spirituality for lyrics and inspiration.

Barren Earth - The Rains Begin

 

Barren Earth is a Finnish progressive death metal band from Helsinki, and was formed in 2007. The group's music is a combination of death metal, progressive rock and some folk music, pulling influence from the different groups each member is associated with. Forming from the members of such well-known groups in Finland, Barren Earth is sometimes referred to as a "supergroup". Since their formation, the band has released one EP and two full-length albums.

Members of Barren Earth are or have been engaged to several bands among the years, including: Mikko Kotamäki – Swallow the Sun, Alghazanth; Olli-Pekka Laine – Amorphis, Mannhai, Chaosbreed; Kasper Mårtenson – Amorphis, Mannhai; Janne Perttilä – Rytmihäiriö, Circus of Flesh; Marko Tarvonen – Moonsorrow, Chaosbreed; Sami Yli-Sirniö – Kreator, Waltari.

Barren Earth has been visiting Tune Of The Day a few times already, a band that we really like and this is starting out good with todays tune.

Todays tune "The Rains Begin" is taken from the second full-length album "The Devil's Resolve" The album is said to contain even more 1970s progressive influences while keeping the brutality associated with the band. The Devil's Resolve is to be released on March 12, 2012

The Japanese version will include 2 bonus tracks: Martyrs Of Devotion and The Passage Unfolds, the former of which can also be found on the Special Edition, whereas the latter will be a Japan-only track.
