Earthless - Black Heaven

Monday, new week, time to introduce "Record Of The Week"

"Black Heaven" is the fifth studio album by the San Diego-based trio power trio, EARTHLESS. A band known for the instrumental jams thru out the years and now suddenly guitarist Isaiah Mitchell found out that he can do two things, play the guitar and sing, woohaa, and with drummer Mario Rubalcaba and bassist Mike Egington who adds a solid rhythms to the tunes. So with "Black Heaven" we get an EARTHLESS with a twist, nothing bad about it at all, on the contrary, it gives the music much more substance, a meaning, and facelift of an already classic band.

"Black Heaven" is a six tune album with full of mind-bending riffing, classic rock-influenced kraut with a light psychedelic atmosphere. The album opens up in a typical EARTHLESS style, improvised rock with the great album starter "Gifted by the Wind", melodic and catchy boogie, same formula is used on the next following songs "End to End" and "Electric Flame", as well as closer "Sudden End", the first single and video is the sub-two-minute punky "Volt Rush", a fast, full-power and all-go-down-hill tune. The title tune, "Black Heaven", starts with the ZEPPELIN alike intro, blending guitar riffs and soloing by Isaiah Mitchell. "Black Heaven" is a solid and well composed album with a great deal of spontaneity.

Nice looking Vinyl!

Sum: A boldness effort by EARTHLESS with "Black Heaven" ends up stronger than ever, don't miss this one!

Today's tune "Volt Rush" suites perfect as a week starter, enjoy!
