Alice Cooper - Ballad of Dwight Fry

Today Alice Cooper is widely known for having one of the best live shows in the business, and a lot of that is due to the musicians he brings on the road. Alice always manages to surround himself with a rotating cast of top notch musicians that will literally Bite Your Face Off!

Occasionally when a band member does change, Alice tells them three things: “You’re gonna see the world; You’re gonna get paid, and you’re gonna get stitches!”

Poster from this years performance.

Here is a poster from the last time he visited Gröna Lund

Anyway, Alice with his band and his roadies did a stop at Gröna Lund for a show.
And Stones and I was invited at the aftershow meet, although I was all to tired so we went home
before we got to see them... ah well we will have more time another day to see him.

But I got a chat with my Friend Pat the day b4, he is helping Alice in the show and with his dolls and
the guillotine  :P  here is a photo with him and me 3-4 years ago.

Alice and his gang did a great show and I really liked his new guitarr player, Nita Strauss.

Here is some photos from the show.

It's Sunday today and the last Tune Of The Day before our holiday, so lets play a classic!

The group supported the album with extensive touring. "Ballad of Dwight Fry" was a dramatized set piece in the live show, featuring an actress dressed as a nurse who dragged Cooper offstage and brought him back on straitjacketed in time for the second verse's "Sleepin' don't come very easy / In a strait white vest". At the song's climax, Cooper would break free of the straitjacket and hurl it into the audience. The Love It to Death tour of 1971 featured an electric chair in the earliest staged executions of the singer.

This song is a salute to the actor Dwight Frye, who played maniacal characters in many Universal horror films, including Renfield from the original Dracula (1931). Cooper dropped the "E" from the name to avoid a lawsuit.

The shock rock legend wrote this song with guitarist/songwriter Michael Bruce, who was an original member of the Alice Cooper Group. During his tenure with the band, Bruce wrote or co-wrote many of their biggest hits, including "No More Mr. Nice Guy," "I'm Eighteen," and "School's Out." He also played keyboards and contributed vocals on their records.

The child's voice at the song's intro was actually a woman in her early 20s, who was a friend of the band.

Today's tune "Ballad of Dwight Fry" is a track from Love It To Death, the third studio album by Alice Cooper (the band). Co-produced by Bob Ezrin and Jack Richardson. It also featured the track "I'm Eighteen," which brought the band its first big mainstream hit and became one of Cooper's most recognized songs. The band established their accessible Heavy Metal sound on this collection.

The album also marked the beginning of a productive, long-term working relationship between Cooper and Ezrin. Following Love It To Death, Cooper recruited Ezrin to produce a number of albums for both the Alice Cooper Group and his solo releases. Among the notable albums he produced for Cooper include School's Out, Billion Dollar Babies, Welcome to My Nightmare and Lace and Whisky. Throughout the '70s, Ezrin was one of the most successful and in-demand music producers on the Rock scene. In addition to Cooper, other notable acts he has worked with include KISS, Lou Reed, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, Dr. John and Rod Stewart.

Ladys And Gents, Here you have ALICE COOPER!

Cheers, Thetania

Shinedown - Cut The Cord

The American hard rock band SHINEDOWN have released a new single "Cut The Cord", taken from SHINEDOWNs upcoming fifth album. The band is from Jacksonville, Florida, formed in 2001 and founded by members Brent Smith (vocals), Brad Stewart (bass), Jasin Todd (guitar), and Barry Kerch (drums). A few lineup changes followed, and the band's current lineup consists of Smith and Kerch, the band's only two remaining original members, with guitarist Zach Myers, and bassist/pianist Eric Bass. Since Shinedown's inception, they have released four albums: Leave a Whisper (2003), Us and Them (2005), The Sound of Madness (2008), and Amaryllis (2012), and a total of 19 singles.

SHINEDOWN vocalist Brent Smith stated about "Cut The Cord": "To our fans, our family…
...And in your truest moment of weakness... When everyone, and everything, has
betrayed you, and evil, and hatred has wrapped itself around your mind,
body, and soul... This is the song that you play... This is the statement to the world,
that you will not give up, you will not give in, and you refuse to fail!!!
Now it is your time... to "CUT THE CORD".

Todays tune “Cut the Cord” is featured on SHINEDOWNs still-untitled new album and the group teased earlier this year that the disc might arrive by late July or early August, but official release details have yet to be announced.

Five Finger Death Punch - Jekyll And Hyde

The Las Vegas rockers FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH are back with a new video for their new crazy single "Jekyll and Hyde". The clip features the band members doing various nonsensical things, as they apparently created the video without consulting their record label, Prospect Park. The tune is taken from the upcoming album "Got Your Six". It is scheduled to be released on August 28, 2015

Check out the video below. The album is currently available for pre-order in a variety of bundle options at this location.

"Got Your Six" is available in various formats to accommodate fans digitally, as well as those who prefer a physical item CD or vinyl alike:

* Standard album, digital (11 tracks)
* Deluxe album, digital (11 tracks + 3 bonus tracks)
* Standard physical CD (11 tracks)
* Deluxe physical CD (11 tracks + 3 bonus tracks + redeemable code for an exclusive t-shirt)
* Vinyl (11 tracks + 3 bonus tracks + digital download card for the deluxe version of the album)

There will also be an exclusive Best Buy edition of the album available (deluxe album and an exclusive, limited-edition FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH merchandise item).

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH will head out on a co-headlining fall tour with PAPA ROACH. Also along will be IN THIS MOMENT and FROM ASHES TO NEW. See the dates below.

The two headliners actively involved their fans in the routing of the tour by giving them the opportunity to request the tour come to their city via a "demand campaign." Some 1.5 million people responded and made their choices known.

About the New Album

“If someone asked me to sum up who and what FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH is, I would tell them everything they need to know is on this new record. Hands down, "Got Your Six" is our best one yet… As for the first single, everybody is Jekyll and Hyde. There are multiple personalities to every human being, and no matter how civilized and sophisticated you think you are, if you dare to look at yourself very, very closely, you’ll see… somewhere deep down… there is a demon inside. Your circumstances may not have provoked it yet but trust me, it’s there…”

Ivan Moody

“The verses [in "Jekyll & Hyde"] are actual unaltered voicemails from Ivan. We have an ever-growing collection of these 4:00am messages Ivan usually bombards us with, and Jason had this idea to copy them to a hard drive, then literally wrote the song around them… what you hear is the actual voicemail”

Zoltan Bathory

Today's tune "Jekyll and Hyde" is the first single from the upcoming sixth studio album, "Got Your Six".

Year Of The Goat - The Emma

Swedish occult doom rock act YEAR OF THE GOAT will release their new album "The Unspeakable" on July 31 via Napalm Records. In anticipation, the band has released a new song and lyric video for "The Emma".

YEAR OF THE GOAT invite us to celebrate their second full length album "The Unspeakable". The Swedes indulge in occult doom rock full of blackened heart`s blood and elegiac melody lines that will haunt your dreams.

Lucifer is not fallen, he is the force that rises above such silly concepts as moral absolutes and eternal torture for non and petty crimes.

YEAR OF THE GOAT, while recognizing that the 60’s and 70’s saw the birth of true genius within the performance of dark art, aim is to abolish time and make you see it for the illusion it is - sinister gospels with properly dank atmospheres can be created whenever and wherever.

The band consists of:

Thomas Sabbathi vocals, guitar
Marcus Lundberg guitar
Don Palmroos guitar
Fredrik Hellerström drums
Tobias Resch bass
Pope mellotron,vocal

In these times of global upheaval YEAR OF THE GOAT will add fire to chaos and ignite the branches spread out for Christ by his flock to further the triumphal return of a Lord that never left… So rejoice in sin, every hour and every second is yours and yours only, just like every year is, and always has been, the YEAR OF THE GOAT!
- The Emma

Today's tune "The Emma" is taken from the upcoming album "The Unspeakable", set to release on July 31. The new single is a brilliant piece of art and I am really looking forward to hear the album in the end of next month. So what are you waiting for....??? Hit play for gods sake!
