Dead Finks - (My Human) Extinction

DEAD FINKS is the musical output of New Zealand-born duo Joseph Thomas and Erin Violet. Formed in Sydney sometime in the late '10s, it's current incarnation is a four-piece rock band based in Berlin.

On "The Death & Resurrection Of Jonathon Cowboy" the band showcase an incredible knack for writing catchy and unique melodies. They play punk music in the tradition of WIRE or SONIC YOUTH and take cues from contemporaries like PARQUET COURTS and ICEAGE in their efforts to manipulate and expand upon what it means to be a punk group in 2021.

Written and recorded in Sydney, late 2018 (shortly before the duo moved to Berlin) the LP serves as a strange prediction of the horrible state of the world today. Songs about war, plagues, pissing, police, David Cronenberg’s Videodrome and the climate burning. Its a sea of wiry guitars and thumping bass that plants itself inside your inner ear and doesn’t leave. Thomas’ smart-ass delivery and literary style with odd references abounding, sees a return to something similarly touched upon in his previous group TRUST PUNKS.

Stripped down rock music that knows what it is and smashes you over the head. Vocal harmonies and lush organ sounds. It sounds really good. Divorcing somewhat on this release from the harsh underground sounds of previous iterations of the band.

Beastwars - Rivermen

From Wellington, New Zealand the sludge metal four-piece BEASTWARS abide by one steadfast maxim: Obey the Riff.

BEASTWARS could be described as "A mongrel mix of KYUSS, NEUROSIS, HIGH ON FIRE, KYLESA, BLACK COBRA, FU MANCHU and the mighty GODFLESH". Heavy riffages for heavy times, some real sonic soothsayers utilize the chaos that engulfs our world as ammunition for their defiant howls into the abyss.

"Blood Becomes Fire" is of course released on a beautiful Vinyl (:

Todays tune "Rivermen" is a nice piece with Whiskey soaked vocals and slow heavy riffs taken from the second album "Blood Becomes Fire", Released 2013. Enjoy!

The House Of Capricorn - The Only Star in the Sky

"Morning Star Rise" is the third full length from THE HOUSE OF CAPRICORN, an apocalyptic devil rock troupe from New Zealand. Within its nine tracks of doomed rock n roll, the album encapsulates the last three years of THE HOUSE OF CAPRICORNs infernal service.

Manifested at the bottom of the world, "Morning Star Rise" is an unholy, antipodean hymn to a looming end, all in the blinding light of the Devil. Drawing from the rowdy darkness of BABYLON WHORES, the gloom of TYPE O NEGATIVE,, and all kinds of scathing Black Metal, the record is a culmination of rich influences and pitch black aesthetics, all presented in lurching rock n roll form with honest, Hellish intent.

The album was released November 7, 2014 through Svart Records on LP/CD/Digital.

The Vinyl version was released in 500 copies where 300 is black and 200 are gold (:

THE HOUSE OF CAPRICORN is:

M. Pavlovic // S. Blomfield // M. Rothwell

J. Saint-Merat | Manifestation
F. Caste | Kvltivation
L. Muir | Materialization

B. Saylor | Spectral Chorus

All invocations divined by THE HOUSE OF CAPRICORN in the swamps below One Tree Hill.

Todays tune "The Only Star in the Sky" is taken from the third album "Morning Star Rise".

Whether you believe in Satan's substantial presence, or if you think it is his symbolic value that matters most, "Morning Star Rise" is an excellent soundtrack to celebrate the Father of lies ever-present and all-pervasive influence.
