Monday, time to introduce "Record Of The Week"
"I Loved You At Your Darkest" (ILYAYD for short) is the 11th full-length release for the Polish blackened death metal band BEHEMOTH. The album was released on October 5, 2018.
BEHEMOTH is a band that always been about breaking boundaries, taboos, leaving its comfort zone and thinking out of the box! Something that I value high as listner to their musical creations. After the masterpiece of "The Satanist" the previous album, they are back with another powerful, dark and full of mind-blowing sounds that will surely run more than one time on your record player, mine has even if I am a bit late with this review. ILYAYD is an album with no fillers, extremely good quality straight true the album. BEHEMOTH shows that they still are one of the top bands in their genre.
Nergal's vocals are horrified and excellent, guitar playing is melodic and evil. Inferno's drumming is like a furious machine. The hellish bass licks by "Orion" and the haunted and icy riffing by "Seth" makes this a very good band.
ILYAYD opens up with the "Not to forgive" from the children’s choir in the intro "Solve" until the "Wolves Ov Siberia" shows it blackened backbone self. "God = Dog" features classic black metal with heavy riffing and a insane video. The melodic blackened piece "If Crucifixion Was Not Enough" is a real beauty to the lovley and vicious power ballad "Bartzabel" or the catchy choruses and riffs in the hypnotic hymn to the anti-god "Havohej Pantocrator", in "Angelvs XIII" and "Sabbath Mater" we get some powerful BEHEMOTH pieces, blasting, screaming, hateful and some melodic guitar riffing to the tear the heads off tune "Ecclesia Diabolica Catholica", overload and blastbeat-heavy tunes like "Rom 5:8" and the album closer "Coagvia". It doesn't get more blasphemous than this!
Sum: ILYAYD is another strong addition to BEHEMOTHs remarkable musical catalog.
Today's tune "Bartzabel", taken from ILYAYD, enjoy!
