David Bowie - Lazarus

Legendary musician, innovator, fashion icon, rule breaker, rock star and pop culture maker David Bowie has passed at the age of 69, after succumbing to an 18-month battle with cancer. .

News of his passing came as a great shock to me and all his fans all over the world, as Bowie kept his liver cancer out of the headlines. His death comes just two days after the release of his 29th album "Blackstar" which came out on his birthday, January 8th.

So today we play his last Video and single "Lazarus" from his latest album "Blackstar" "Blackstar" (stylised as ★) is the twenty-sixth and final studio album by English musician David Bowie. It was released through Bowie's ISO Records label on 8 January 2016, Bowie's 69th birthday and just two days before his death. The title track was released as a single on 19 November 2015 and was used as the opening music for the television series The Last Panthers.

According to Bowie's producer Tony Visconti, the lyrics and video of Lazarus and other songs on the album were intended to be a self-epitaph, a commentary on Bowie's own impending death.

The official music video for "Lazarus", featuring a shorter edit of the song lasting just over four minutes. The video was directed by Johan Renck, who also directed the music video for Bowie's previous single, "Blackstar". The video is shown in a 1:1 aspect ratio and prominently features Bowie, as the "Button-Eyes" character from the "Blackstar" video, lying on a deathbed. Bowie also plays a poet, simultaneously tormented and inspired by the skull from the "Blackstar" video.

Today's tune is for You Bowie, Rest In Piece!
