From the sun baked wastelands of Austin, Texas comes the super heavy, tripped out, old school stoner metal sounds of DUEL with "Fears Of The Dead"
DUEL is a newcomer from Austin, Texas which started in 2015, by the
ex-SCORPION CHILD guitarist Tom Frank and bassist Shaun Avants (who left the band in 2014). They
both handle the vocals on Duel. The other two fellows are JD Shadowz on Drums and Derek Halfmann on Guitars.
First, DUEL is not another SCORPION CHILD, DUEL is something totally different and is this good?, oh hell yeah! DUEL is hugely influenced by the darker breed of late 60’s and early 70’s
Proto-metal and heavy groove, DUEL casts hard rocking spells of doom,
angst, and horror from behind a thick psychedelic haze of pot smoke.
"Fears Of The Dead" is a classic groovy heavy rock album that floats slowly on the thick slurry of algae andother debris, like an wrecked steam-propelled survivor of the Vicksburg battle.
The Vinyl album kicks of with the title track, a groovy piece that have a fun and excellent swing, heavy puffy riffing, clear melody, excellent tune and I'm digging! The more speedy "This Old Crow" gets my feet's to stomp faster while "The Kraken" takes out it's debauchery to something totally different, still heavy and groovy with it's guitar licks that melts anyone. The last tune on the first side is "Fell To The Earth", a thick bar rocker with catchy riffs and smoky lyrics. (time to turn the record)
A classic hard rocker "On The Edge" starts of the "B" side of the record, with Ace Frehely sounding guitars, the stunning "Electricity" with it's killing melody kicks me of the sofa and I will stay there when "When The Pigs Are Fed" runs in with it's 80's BLACK SABBATH tune, whoa what a suprice.
"Locked Outside" ends the side and finish of the album in nearly eight minutes of magnificent rock that takes you on a voyage true the classic sound of B.O.C and the psychedelic folk of PINK FLOYD a tune that is protected by iron and steel armor plates to keep the explosive intact.

The Austin heavy psych-rockers SCORPION CHILD present a brand new single entitled "She Sings, I Kill".
With their dangerous guitar riffs, soul-ridden bass lines, and thunderous drums with powerful rock vocals they kick some ass.
"She Sings, I Kill" is released as an White 7" single. Limited to 200 units, Black 7" single. Limited to 500 units. The single will contain the new track "She Sings, I Kill", as well as another new song, "(Enter The) Twilight Coven", which will be a B-side that is exclusive to this single. Both tracks will mark the first impression of the band's upcoming second album, which is tentatively scheduled for an early 2016 release. Singer Aryn Jonathan Black comments: "The time has come and thirst for travel has become an overwhelming urge for quite some time. We will quench these desires in November with a UK/Europe adventure. It is there we will bear the fruits of our labor in song with a view from our forthcoming album. The psalms 'She Sings, I Kill' and '(Enter The) Twilight Coven' will be born!"
They originally formed in 2006 and have spent the last few years perfecting both their songwriting and stage presence. Aryn Jonathan Black fronts the outfit with a siren-like voice reminiscent of a young Robert Plant. Guitarists Christopher Jay Cowart and Tom Frank layer high-energy twin-guitars over the band’s driving rhythm section fueled by Shaun Avants (bass) and Shawn Alvear (drums).

Hooks: a musical idea or short riff, passage, or phrase that catches the ear of the listener. Some bands have ‘em, most don’t. Austin-based five-piece Scorpion Child have ‘em in spades. Whether it’s an extended blues jam or a short slice of bombastic heavy rock “The Child” lay a hook so tasty everyone bites.
The Child, a band that plays hardrock and have all the classic ingredients to create a brilliant tune, where you, music listeners will dig into, maybe even become a new fan, my heart did they steal already at the first riff! It's a classic, messy and really catchy, heavy progressive sounds of Uriah Heep and the epic delivery of early Rainbow.
Attributes in music are known to be cyclical. Every few years, a band comes along which borrows just enough from the revered past to bring a new infusion of vitality to the musical present. The Child‘s sound invokes a time when guitar-driven rock ruled radio’s airwaves, when being hypnotized by a frontman and his bandmates in a concert arena was one of life’s ultimate main events.
Scorpion Child has spent the last few years perfecting both its songwriting and stage show. Guitarists Chris Cowart and David Finner deliver their finessed twin guitar attack with experience older than their years; bassist Shaun Avants and drummer Shawn Alvear are steadfast sentinels of their driving rhythm section; and lead singer Aryn Jonathan Black fronts the psychedelic rock cavalry with a passion and voice reminiscent of the early eras of Robert Plant and Ronnie James Dio.
Todays tune "Polygon Of Eyes" is the first single of their forthcoming self-titled album, it will be released on June 21. Produced and arranged by Chris “Frenchie” Smith (The Answer, …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, The Toadies), the CD was recorded using analog recording technology. It will be released as a limited CD digipack, vinyl, digital download versions of “Scorpion Child”.
