Gaahls WYRD - From The Spear

Norwegian extreme metal formation GAAHLS WYRD, fronted by renowned vocalist Gaahl (GORGOROTH, WARDRUNA), will release its debut album, "GastiR - Ghosts Invited", on May 31 via Season Of Mist. The album was recorded last year at Solslottet Studios in Norway with Iver Sandøy (ENSLAVED). The word "Gastir" means visitor. The record is shaping up to be a decidedly not-so-black metal affair, though the singles thus far have proven Gaahl is far more talented than relying on his reputation and excellent musicianship.

Gaahl is known as one of Norway's most-talked-about and respected extreme metal musicians. His work with TRELLDOM, GORGOROTH, WARDRUNA and GOD SEED has been widely regarded as some of the best the black metal scene has had to offer.

GAAHLS WYRD conists of:
Vocals - Gaahl (Kristian Espedal) (GORGOROTH, WARDRUNA, GOD SEED),
Guitar - Lust Kilman (Ole Walaunet) (THE BATALLION, GOD SEED, GRIMFIST),
Bass - Eld (Frode Kilvik) (KRAKOW, AETERNUS) and on
Drums - Spektre (Kevin Kvåle) (HORIZON ABLAZE).

GAAHLS WYRD have just finish of the European tour with TRIBULATION, UADA and IDLE HANDS.

Today's tune "From The Spear" is taken from the upcoming album "Gastir – Ghosts Invited" will be released may 31st through Seasons of Mist.

Sahg – Black Unicorn

The four-piece Norwegian hard rock/ doom metal band SAHG have released their third single from the upcoming album "Memento Mori", set to be released on the September 23, 2016.

SAHG was formed in Bergen in the summer of 2004, by key figures in the metal scene of their country: Tom Cato Visnes (KING OV HELL), Einar Selvik (KVITRAFN), Olav Iversen and Thomas Tofthagen. Iversen has been the main songwriter and the only constant member of the band since its inception.

SAHG features members of GORGOROTH, AUDREY HORNE and MANNGARD.

The album release date coincides with the 39th birthday of Olav Iversen (SAHG frontman), an aspect that's symbolic to the title. Iversen explains:

“ Memento Mori was one of several options that we had on note for a long time. But then Lemmy (Kilmister) died. And (David) Bowie died. And all of a sudden, all these rock icons disappeared, one by one. People that have made their imprint on history and influenced us musically since childhood. It made a great impression on a personal level, and started a grieving process that influenced the making of the album. Suddenly it was very clear what the album title would be. “Remember, you must die”. Even immortal legends like Bowie and Lemmy don’t live forever.

“During the making of Memento Mori, Black Unicorn stood out as a single and opening track of the album. The idea was to introduce the album with an eerie atmosphere and unsettling tension that you would instantly tap into and want to explore further. From the uncomfortable relief of the chorus, the song twists and turns into something quite different than I hope many would expect. Black Unicorn is a call for caution against radicalism in general. All ideologies end up murdering the innocent when taken too far. This is truly one of our all-time stand-out tracks, that we will bring with us into the future.

We left it in the hands of film director Benjamin Langeland and his crew at Flimmer Film to create the video for Black Unicorn. We had our initial thoughts and ideas for the aesthetic direction, but Benjamin took it his own way. And looking at how it turned out, we are very happy that he did. He turned it into a horror universe of medieval sorts, with a story that turns from dark to pitch black in the end. My daughter Stella is starring in the video, and she made daddy very proud, by giving a stellar performance.”

The beautiful Video of today's tune "Black Unicorn" is made by Benjamin Langeland.

God Seed - Alt Liv

The will to grow. The god within man. The god within nature, and the will to reach one's highest potential.

These are values all embedded in the name of God Seed. God Seed is a Norwegian black metal band based in Bergen, Norway. Former Gorgoroth members Gaahl and King ov Hell adopted the name in March 2009 following the ending of the Gorgoroth name dispute. After perforimg a few gigs as God Seed, vocalist Gaahl left the band in July 2009 and it was put on hold. King finished the music for God Seed's first album, with vocalist Shagrath, and released it under the name Ov Hell. Gaahl re-joined God Seed in 2012. In January 2012 did they released the live album Live at Wacken (live album recorded in 2008), and in October they released their first studio album, I Begin.

What "King" says about the band: "God Seed" represents a more spiritual side to us. "God Seed" represents the will to grow; the will to be the super man, so to speak. I think it's a suitable name for what we will represent in the future. It will challenge the weak minded, but it's all about the same themes we are known from in the past. The God within man, and the God within nature."

The Band Featuring:

King - bass
Lust Kilman - Guitars
Geir Bratland - Keys
Kenneth Kapstad - Drums
Sir - Guitars
Gaahl - vocals

This is the 1st studio record King and Gaahl release together since Gorgoroth`s "Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam"! Read more about God Seed and "I Begin".

Todays tune is God Seed's first music video "Alt Liv" from the new album "I Begin". Produced by Mats Willassen. It was released on October 23, 2012 in North America and on October 30, 2012 in Europe.
