Franz Ferdinand - Ulysses

Franz Ferdinand are a Scottish rock band that formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 2002.
Named after Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, the band comprises Alex Kapranos (lead vocals and guitar),
Bob Hardy (bass guitar), Nick McCarthy (rhythm guitar, keyboards and backing vocals), and
Paul Thomson (drums, percussion and backing vocals).

Alex Kapranos of the band commented - Tonight: Franz Ferdinand is music of the night: to fling yourself around your room to as you psyche yourself for a night of hedonism, for the dance-floor, flirtation, for your desolate heart-stop, for losing it and loving losing it, for the chemical surge in your bloodstream. Its for that lonely hour gently rocking yourself waiting for dawn and it all to be even again

Since late 2007, the band have been recording their third studio album in Glasgow, recently released on 27 January 2009.
"Ulysses", the first single from the album, was first played by Zane Lowe on 17 November 2008. Shortly afterwards it hit YouTube.

Honkeyfinger - Got This Rage

It's all about a making one hell of a pounding, primal, amped-up & skronked out blues racket. Honkeyfinger is the one man band from the bowels of the earth, erupting molten fuzz lapsteel, screaming harmonica riffs and desperate bestial howling in a scorching hot cocktail of heavy raw blues power. The Honkeyfinger sound hotwires the electric freak rock of vintage Beefheart, Blue Cheer, ZZTop, and Black Sabbath into a jumping, lurching monster. Boiling up the ghosts of Bukka White, Leadbelly and John Lee Hooker with the bones of the country blues, laced with the acid fried heaviosity of the Buttholes Surfers - this is the thick stinking soup that Mr.Honkeyfinger serves hot.

In Flames - Artifacts Of The Black Rain

In Flames is a Swedish melodic death metal band formed in Gothenburg, Sweden.
We wrote about em b4 a bit.
I was sitting on the bus today and was listening to them, they are really good... I was working at Grammis Galan in Stockholm and they won a prise best hard rock category for their album A Sense of Purpose at the Grammy award in Sweden they were worth it !
The band Sabaton was also there and they rock as well but In Flames are a bit bettah :)

I wonder whot their influences are and found out that it was
melodic death metal bands such as Insomnium,Omnium Gatherum, Blood Stain Child, also include In Flames as one of their biggest influences. Since they were one of the first in their style, they did not draw influence from other melodic death metal bands, but instead cite Tool, Queensryche, and Alice in Chains as their biggest influences.
I do like Queensryche.

Ah well Enjoy!

John Lodge and Justin Hayward as they inspired and evolved
the progressive rock style.
Among their innovations was a fusion with classical music,
most notably in their seminal 1967 album Days of Future Passed.

U2 - New Year's Day

Yeah...
All is quiet on New Year's Day
A world in white gets underway
I want to be with you
Be with you night and day
Nothing changes on New Year's Day

"New Year's Day" is the third song and lead single from U2's 1983 album, War. The song is driven by Adam Clayton's distinctive bassline and The Edge's keyboard. It was the band's first hit single, breaking the top ten in the UK.

The lyric had its origins in a love song from Bono to his wife, but then was reshaped and inspired by the Polish Solidarity movement.

Its a nice tune to start the first day of the New year.

Enjoy
