Northern Swedens pride RAISED FIST have released a new album "From The North".

With only 5 albums released, critics and fans all over the world have firmly cemented RAISED FIST as one of the premier hardcore bands in the world. They started the band 1993 in the small cold northern city of Luleå Sweden. RAISED FIST has always chosen their own path up the ladder. They have done so with total integrity and 100% honesty. Raised Fist had the talent, the product and the confidence to deliver it!

With tours all over the world the band have conquered territories one at the time. Their powerful, energetic live performances are hard to find anywhere else.

We've put blood, sweat and tears into writing, producing and recording this album.

Just hammering down 3.600 nails into a board, every single one by hand, to make the album artwork, should give you an indication of our ambition with this album.

Epitaph have worked their asses off, giving this at first glance, noncommercial product a real priority. They have made sure that this album will get the recognition it deserves. A constant flow of hugs and kisses going out in the Epitaph-direction.

Of course our families, with a couple of brand new family members, have struggled with us being away. And that always hurts the most. Without the support from them, this could not be happening right now. Ceaseless love to all of you!

This album is first and foremost something we wrote for ourselves. A selfish way of expressing feelings and letting our creativity flow, the way we have done it for the last 20 years, more than half of our lives. But we were already satisfied in April 2014 when we finished the last second of production. Now it’s all yours.

The new album sounds amazing at first site, I will get back with more impressions later on. They are a band that does things on their own terms and that does not compromise with their ideals. They hailed by legends SICK OF IT ALL and the newer abilities BRING ME THE HORIZON and I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN. Respect for their music and integrity shines through. This is the band's sixth album - which fittingly enough has been given the title "From The North". As the first single released and todays tune "Flow" and as usual, these are of heavy hardcore with punk influences. The album is available NOW! Released on January 19th, 2015!

Below - Bid You Farewell

New week, new year and it's time to present this years first "Record Of The Week"

That I have been stuck in "The Doom's" hemming is undoubtedly, especially as it has been like lately, just take a closer look at my seasonal best album list for last year and my contributions to the "Hard Rock Night"

Record Of The Week is "Across the Dark River", the debut record from "Below", an Epic Doom act from Sweden. The music has influences from late Black Sabbath, Candlemass, King Diamond.

In the fall of 2011, Below was formed in Sweden by three wicked minds. After a discussion about why doom bands of today either lacked melodies or tried to sound as retro as possible, they decided to start a doom band that would pay tribute to epic and dark sound of: Nightfall by Candlemass, Headless Cross by Black Sabbath and Conspiracy by King Diamond.

The original three wicked minds pitched the idea to two other sinful souls, who immediately understood what Below was going to be about and with no hesitation, joined the band.

Below started writing songs and in November of 2012 and a 4-track EP was recorded at Deep Blue Studios in Sweden. By this time, Tobiee of Howlin Owl Productions heard of the band and asked to act as manager for the band. The EP was sent to various magazines, labels and people in the business and was praised by everybody who gave the songs a listen.

With only one, unreleased EP, the band was able to book a 10 day tour through Denmark, Holland and Germany as opening act for Devil from Norway. The final show of that tour was the Hammer Of Doom festival in Germany.

Eventually, the EP landed in the hands of Metal Blade Records, who saw the band's potential and offered them a deal.

Below recorded their debut album early fall of 2013 at Andy LaRocque's (King Diamond) Sonic Train Studios. The full length will be released during 2014 through Metal Blade Records. Below offered up the following comment on recording: "To have the opportunity to work with Andy La Rocque and Olof in Sonic Train Studios is amazing. It will be a truly epic album that will leave its mark in the history of doom."

Producer and legendary King Diamond guitarist Andy La Rocque added; "This is one of the heaviest bands I have worked with in the studio for a very long time, and the sounds so far is amazing! And always great to work with great musicians!"

Below is a very interesting newcomer in the doom scene, the dudes have created a great album "Across The Dark River", they really have managed their influences well without that it has become contrived or completely torn apart. A pleasant and very nice doom album that will get many turns on the turntable.

Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell

Sunday, time for a classic tune.

Oh baby you're the only thing in this whole world
That's pure and good and right
And wherever you are and wherever you go
There's always gonna be some light

That's part of the lyrics taken from todays classic tune "Bat Out of Hell" is a song written by Jim Steinman, for the 1977 album Bat Out of Hell and performed by Meat Loaf. It was released as a single in 1979, and again in 1993.

Many of the musicians who performed on the track were members of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band and Todd Rundgren's Utopia.

This song has become the traditional last song that Meat Loaf performs on all of his live concert shows.

The song was inspired by teenage tragedy songs such as "Leader of the Pack" and "Tell Laura I Love Her", the latter being the first single Jim Steinman had ever bought. Steinman wanted to write the "most extreme crash song of all time"

There is something so thrilling to me about that operatic narrative that involves a cataclysmic event, especially one so perfectly intune with a teenager's world, and rock and roll, as a car or motorcycle crash.

 

Michael Lee Aday (born Marvin Lee Aday; September 27, 1947) is an American musician and actor better known by his stage name Meat Loaf. He is best known for the Bat Out of Hell album. Bat Out of Hell has sold more than 43 million copies worldwide. After 35 years, it still sells an estimated 200,000 copies annually and stayed on the charts for over nine years, making it one of the best selling albums of all time. He is also known for his powerful wide-ranging operatic voice and theatrical live performances.

Todays tune is the title track from Meat Loaf's the second album "Bat Out of Hell", released in October 1977.

Alpha Tiger - We Won`t Take It Anymore

From Saxony, Germany we find a classic heavy metal band "Alpha Tiger", their musical journey goes back to metal of the 1980s, which is interpreted in an individual, speedy way, a cocktail of speed metal, power metal, heavy metal and a big dose of The New Wave of British Heavy Metal. A band that have drawn my attention with the latest release.

The high and characteristic vocals of Stephan Dietrich and the driven harmonic dual guitars presents powerful, high-velocity metal, which got its final polish by being recorded in metal veteran Karl Walterbach’s (ex-Noise records) studio.

Can hear both Helloween & Queensryche as major influences, though in a modernized version, but still classic. The album’s lyrical concept deals with the loss of individuality in today’s mass society and the growing Orwellian tendencies in the western world.

The band started as "Satin Black" founded in 2007 before they changed the name to "Alpha Tiger" in early 2011. In 2014, did the band signed a deal with Century Media and the brand new 3:rd album "iDentity" got released on 16 January 2015.
