The Sounds - No One Sleeps When I'm Awake

The Sounds is a Swedish New Wave band founded in 1999 in Helsingborg.
The group's musical style has been compared to New Wave acts such as Blondie, The Cars, the Epoxies and Missing Persons. Their debut album, Living in America, was released in 2002, with the follow up, Dying to Say This to You, on March 21, 2006. Their third album, Crossing the Rubicon, was released on June 2 2009.

Lead singer Maja Ivarsson is explicit about her ambition, claiming "I want to be the best female vocalist around...of at least this century". She was featured on Cobra Starship's "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)", for the film Snakes on a Plane. In addition to Ivarsson's contribution to the Snakes soundtrack, the entire band is featured as track 6, "Queen of Apology," remixed by Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump. The Sounds is out touring at moment with the their new album opening up for No Doubt in the states, check below for tour dates. The album "Crossing the Rubicon" is full of that catchy, keyboard-driven power pop. The songs are well-polished without being overproduced. Its not their best album but its well worth listen to it.

The Sounds consist of : Maja Ivarsson – Vocals, Felix Rodriguez – Guitar, Johan Bengtsson – Bass, Jesper Anderberg – Keyboards, Piano, Guitar and Fredrik Nilsson – Drums

Todays tune "No One Sleeps When I'm Awake" is the lead single from their third album Crossing the Rubicon. The title was inspired by a quote from Ronnie Woods about Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones. Enjoy!

Juliette Lewis - Hardly Wait

Juliette Lewis launched a career as a solo singer and musician, leading a group called Juliette and the Licks until 2009. After splitting with the Licks (Juliette announced the band was at the "end of its run." Explaining that she needed a change to grow as an artist), Juliette formed a new band called The New Romantiques, with whom she has recorded a new album entitled Terra Incognita. She had great success with the Licks by means of tunes as "You're Speaking My Language" and "Hot Kiss". Juliette also did a cover of PJ Harvey's "Hardly Wait" and "Rid of Me" in the film Strange Days before forming Juliette and the Licks. The band broke up in 2009. Juliette is out touring as you read this, tonight she will perform at Berns/Stockholm and will continue thru Europe, she the tour plan below.

Got her latest album the other day, it's produced by The Mars Volta’s Omar Rodriguez Lopez, it's a record with great variety and a rockish atmosphere. Juliette Lewis is not the best female singer, but she is a hell of a performer live and a thru festival act and she also is a terrific actress. “Hard Lovin’ Woman” is great blues rocking tune and "Fantasy Bar" power pop tune with Debbie Harry influences. In total i do like this.

Todays tune is taken from the movie "Strange Days" where she is performing the PJ Harvey's tune "Hardly Wait" Enjoy!

Here is a better version of the tune, but no movie.

The Hellacopters - In The Sign of Octopus

Todays tune is with a tear in the eye, after 4 shows this weekend with The Hellacopters and the farwell tour has hit its end.
The first day (Saturday) with one show at 13:00 CET for all the Copters familys, friends and other VIPs was great first of four sold out goodbyes. The evening show was even better, the band was really thrilled and gave all they got and this evening show, something happened with the electricity on stage. Some jackass thrown some beer in the sky and some of it got thrown at the lightningdesk which collapsed the lighting system. Soon after that the stage power got nuts and for some unknown reason Kenny bassamp died and one minute later all monitors onstage started to feedback LOUD and Nick got Electrocuted from his mic and took a flight back, the band walked of stage, Nick was so pissed that he coulnt finish the show (though they had only little over one song left), Nick is ok after all.
Sunday morning was a really a quiet one, all members was very down in the mood (allmost that someone has died) you could feel it in the air.
The 3:rd show was a allages, so the house was crowded with kids and no beer in the bar (Got some of the older once a little crumpy that they had to drink cola :))
The guys went up and gave the kids a superb show the audience got crazy, they almost tear down the place when 'Dregen' entred the stage. The final, last and 4:th one was the true climax of this weekend at Debaser.
The guys was tierd, no doubt about that, but they find some extra energy and they gave 110%, even if the middle things was a little bit longer than usal. The heat inside was lika a sauna and he guys looked like they came in from the shower with out touching a tovel and this already half way thru the show.
When they started on the last songs, loads of flowers was flying up on stage.
Audience was crying and that was a really strange feeling.
When the band finally went of stage the audience was clapping and crying and even i could notice the emptyness and the tears.
This was a great final of a magical thing.
The Hellacopters is dead, Long live The Hellacopters.

The Hellacopters - Hopeless Case Of A Kid In Denial

The Hellacopters are a Swedish rock band that was formed in 1994, and have released six full
length albums of their own material, a cover album, two compilations of non album work, six EPs,
and many other official releases.
In October of 2007 the band officially announced their break up after an extensive European tour and the release of a double disc live album.
The band was, together with The Hives, one of the most important Swedish bands in the garage rock revival and one of the most influential rock bands in Sweden.

Frontman Nick Royale will continue to work with his other band Death Breath and record a solo record of some sort later on. He also syas that he would like to record and tour once again with his soul band The Solution, but due to all of the diffrent members involment with other projects, finding time for everyone to record and tour is difficult.
Robert Dahlqvist will return to his own band Thunder Express, with which he plans to release a swedish record with lyrics from Stefan Sundström under the name 'Dunder Tåget'.
Kenny Håkansson will form a band with the drummer of the danish rock band Baby Woodrose, the currently untitled band is described as 'psychadelic rock a'la 1971'.
Robert Eriksson will do work with his currently unsigned band Tramp and work at a music youth center.

This weekend the hellacopters will play thier last shows, 4 sold out concerts @ Debaser / Stockholm and guess who will be there :)
So, i will give you all some classic tunes from these fellows one today and one tomorrow i hope you will like them as much as i do!
