Beast In Black - Blind And Frozen

The five-piece, Helsinki based heavy metal band BEAST IN BLACK was founded by Anton Kabanen soon after he had parted ways with BATTLE BEAST in 2015. By the end of 2015 the band played their first gig as opening act for NIGHTWISH. The making of "Berserker" was already in progress back then and it was completed in summer 2017. A deal was signed with Nuclear Blast almost immediately after the completion of the album.

"Berserker" continues in the style of Anton's previously composed works which include the first three BATTLE BEAST albums. One of the essential themes on this debut album is the Japanese manga and anime "Berserk". As NIGHTWISH’s Tuomas Holopainen says about "Berserker", there’s nothing but a great album to expect: “You have to be mentally insane to not love this album.”

"Berserker" was produced by Anton in his Sound Quest Studio. The album’s artwork marks the return of the collaboration between Anton and Roman Ismailov who was the original illustrator and graphic artist for BATTLE BEAST.

Nightwish - Élan

Since the band’s inception in 1996, NIGHTWISH have released eight full length releases, sold millions of records world-wide, and become one of the most popular female-fronted, symphonic metal bands of all time. Produced by Tero “TeeCee” Kinnumen, “Endless Forms Most Beautiful“ features album artwork by Finnish artist Toxic Angel and includes adult & childrens choirs, collaborative work with esteemed orchestral arranger Pip Williams, session drum work by Kai Hahto of WINTERSUN (who is sitting in for the ailing NIGHTWISH drummer Jukka Nevalainen), and a guest appearance by evolutionary biologist, writer, and atheist Richard Dawkins.

Commented NIGHTWISH mastermind/keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen: "The long-awaited NIGHTWISH music video 'Élan' is finally here. Inspired by the untold stories of abandoned places around Finland, the video was nearly a year in the making and features some of the most loved Finnish actors and actresses. And also the legendary NIGHTWISH symbol, a snowy owl (Bubo Scandiaca in Latin) called 'Urho' ('Braveheart')."

According to Holopainen, the starting point for writing the song "Élan" was a quote by Walt Whitman (who he referred to as "my hero Uncle Walt"): "Oh, while I live to be the ruler of life, Not a slave, To meet life as a powerful conqueror, and nothing exterior to me will ever take command of me." Holopainen stated, "The underlying theme of the song is nothing less than the meaning of life, which can be something different for all of us. It´s important to surrender yourself to the occasional 'free fall' and not to fear the path less travelled by."

NIGHTWISH's new full-length album, "Endless Forms Most Beautiful", will be made available on March 27 in Europe and March 31 in the U.S. via Nuclear Blast.

The cover artwork for "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" was created by the band's longtime collaborator Toxic Angel. Famed evolutionary biologist and atheist writer/leader Richard Dawkins appears as a guest on the effort.

Longtime NIGHTWISH drummer Jukka Nevalainen sat out the recording sessions for "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" due to health issues; Kai Hahto (WINTERSUN, SWALLOW THE SUN, TREES OF ETERNITY) replaced him.

The "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" title came from Charles Darwin's "The Origin Of Species" book, where he wrote: "There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed into a few forms or into one; and that, while this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved."

Singer Floor Jansen, who officially joined the band in 2013, made her live debut as the frontwoman of NIGHTWISH on October 1, 2012 at Showbox Sodo in Seattle, Washington.

Upon release across various online stores (Nuclear Blast, Mad Supply, EMP, Napalm etc), Endless Forms Most Beautiful came in multiple editions, ready for pre-orders. Note that some of these editions are exclusive to certain websites.

Sonic Syndicate - Before You Finally Break

Sonic Syndicate have finally waken up from a 2 years break, with their new "self titled" album recorded at Bohus Recordings (Kungälv, Sweden) and produced by Roberto Lahgi (In Flames, Deathstars), release 4 July. Sonic Syndicate hits the road again playing exclusive shows in Sweden and Germany this summer, and a headlining tour starts in fall.

After the release of their first album, »Eden Fire« (2005), Sonic Syndicate arose from the pulsating underground in 2007 when Nuclear Blast put out their stunningly intense second album »Only Inhuman«. The band went up to the game's top players in no time and were even able to set the bar higher with their next effort, »Love And Other Disasters« (2008). Touring with bands like Amon Amarth, In Flames or Nightwish eventually cemented their status as the hottest new band around (Best Newcomer 2008 twice at Swedish Metal Awards and at Bandit Rock Awards, Best Music Video 2010 and Best Swedish Group 2010).

When Nathan Biggs joined the band, Sonic Syndicate came up with a diverse and unique work of art - »We Rule The Night«. The album was not only accompanied by selling a Gold Record in Sweden and a huge marketing campaign over the world, but it also led the band to their most extensive tour to date, travelling and destroying stages for about 2 years and finished at an unbelievably successful gig at 2011s edition of renowned Summer Breeze Open Air in front of over 33.000 people.

After almost 28million youtube views of their official music videos and constantly being on the road or in the studio, the band decided to take a break for the first time since 2005. Being on a hiatus gave the band the opportunity to work just as easy and song orientated as it was never given before.

2 years later, Sonic Syndicate is back!

Swallow the Sun - Cathedral Walls

 

Swallow the Sun is a Finnish death/doom metal band. The band is as we speak touring with Paradise Lost as support act. The band did quite well, given that the stage area were not particularly big, so it was a bit compressed, which radiated a feeling of a tight situation, the band did not really blossom out, which was a shame. Would be really nice to experience a full concert with these gentlemen, so they get a little space and the ability to also take on the tougher tracks, so maybe next time.

Swallow the Sun was formed in early 2000 by Juha Raivio, joined soon by Pasi Pasanen came along (both had played in Plutonium Orange). They rehearsed a couple of songs, one of them being "Through Her Silvery Body" which would end up on their first demo, Out of This Gloomy Light. In 2001 Markus Jämsen, whom Raivio and Pasanen already knew from their earlier bands, joined as a second guitarist, and Mikko Kotamäki from Funeris Nocturnum as singer; then Aleksi Munter (keyboards) and Matti Honkonen (bass), also of Funeris Nocturnum, joined the band. In the spring of 2002 they started arranging songs for the demo, which was recorded in January 2003 at Sam's Workshop with Sami Kokko, who also mixed the demo.

A record deal with Firebox Records was signed a few months after the recordings of the demo, and Swallow the Sun entered studio at late July 2003. During the following three weeks they recorded their debut album, The Morning Never Came. In February 2005, Swallow the Sun released their second album, Ghosts of Loss.

During the year 2006 they signed to Spinefarm Records and did a small European tour. In January 2007 they released their third album, Hope, which includes a cover version of the Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus song "Alavilla mailla" (which they translated into "These Low Lands") as a bonus track on the digipack edition, sung by Tomi Joutsen, the frontman of fellow Finnish metal band, Amorphis. There is also a guest appearance by Jonas Renkse of Katatonia on the song "The Justice of Suffering." They went on a US tour with Katatonia, Scar Symmetry and Insomnium in late 2007.

The fourth studio album New Moon was released on November 4, 2009. Wintersun drummer Kai Hahto replaced Pasi Pasanen and contributed drums on the album. Some versions of the album contain an alternate recording of "Servant of Sorrow", which features a solo by Marillion's guitarist Steve Rothery. On February 1, 2012, Svart Records released the album on LP, limited to 500 copies, yes i got one of these :)

The latest and the fifth studio album Emerald Forest and the Blackbird was released February 1, 2012, by Spinefarm Records. It was also released on limited LP on both green and white vinyl by Svart Records, yes i got one of these :)
