Gudars Skymning - Alla Kungens Män

GUDARS SKYMNING is a northern Swedish band with roots in the heavy rock of the '60s and' 70s, blues, folk, and the Swedish prog. The band took their first steps in 2006 and recorded their self-titled demo. GUDARS SKYMNINGt consisted at that time of Kenny Oswald Dufvenberg, Dennis Sjödin, Tony Östman (AEON), and Anders Nord. In December the same year did they recruited an additional guitarist, Knut Hassel (DESTINY, 7TH PLANET).

In 2008 they released their debut album "Dansa tillbaks till din grav”. The album was self released using Transubstans Records.

"Mörka Vatten”" saw the day of light in 2010 and came out on the Italian company BlackWidow/Blood Rock Records on CD and vinyl.

In November 2013, released the band's third album "Höj era Glas" on Transubstans Records on CD and two Vinyl editions, one of the issues was very limited.

GUDARS SKYMNING consists of:

GUDARS SKYMNING takes the best out of the old blues and the old classic hardrock and delivers a with outstanding guitar licks and great melody. Easily compared with other Swedish veterans such as ABRAMIS BRAMA and MAGNOLIA. The record also includes a cover of CORNELIS VREEJSVIKS "Sluskblues", a move that is dared, but ends up with a very fine result !

Todays tune "Alla Kungens Män" is taken from the latest record "Höj era Glas". The Video is homemade music video recorded by two idiots somewere outside "Söredsta" during a lovly day in May.

Eldkvarn - Somliga Går I Trasiga Skor

Sunday, classic time, if you look quickly at the lineup on Bråvalla festival is there unfortunately not many classic bands, find a few, of which the Swedish rock band Eldkvarn can be counted as one of them.

Eldkvarn is a Swedish rock band formed in Norrköping in 1971, consisting of brothers Plura Jonsson (the main songwriter, singer and rhythm guitarist of the band) and Carl Jonsson (lead guitarist who also writes songs and sings). The third original member is the bass player Tony Thorén, who has produced a number of albums by Eldkvarn, as well as other artists. The band is very active and widely regarded as one of the best rock bands in Sweden, with a following in other Nordic countries as well.

Eldkvarn have had some ups and downs in their career, highlights being the beginning of the 1980s, then the late 1980s with "Himmelska Dagar" and "Kungarna från Broadway", and - maybe above all - the period from "Limbo" (1999) to this day. The last period is by many Swedish music critics considered to be the best in the band's career.

In all, the band have made more than 20 full length LP and CDs.

The group received a commercial success with his interpretation of Cornelis Vreeswijk "Somliga går med trasiga skor", which is also todays tune. The tune is taken from the album "Den flygande holländaren", a music album released in 1988, where Swedish artists perform songs written by Cornelis Vreeswijk. Today's video is filmed in the subway. Anyone traveling with SL instead of taking the car makes a small contribution to the environment. As a thank you offered SL its travelers on a surprise concert by Eldkvarn.

Mando Diao - Strövtåg I Hembygden

New week, new Record of the week album will be presented, this time it is actually a record in Swedish.

Mando Diao has returned with a new album "Infruset", a giant leap from punk rock to classical tones of Swedish folk poems are not exactly what one would expect of the guys. Although in some strange way, this sounds obvious. This is Mando Diaos first album in Swedish. The band has delivered five studio albums and has sold 1.5 million albums over 10 active years.

The Mando Diao resurrects the Swedish soul, to fully focus on native traditions. A soulful appropriations, an old piano and Gustaf Fröding lyrics, with a heritage from Fred Åkerström and Cornelis Vreeswijk. All this and to provide the basis for the album. It's a huge risk, daring to sing in Swedish and also make it as unadorned as Mando Diao done.

It is painfully beautiful when Gustaf Norén and Björn Dixgårds voices intertwine in a proud harmony. They gives the words the weight they deserve. They sing more heartfelt and emotional than ever. Björn's sister Linnea Dixgård gives an helped hand, which can be heard in the nice duet mission in tunes "Titania" and "I Ungdommen".

The band, as many others has let their name adorn a bottle with alcohol containing beverages, in the Mando's case, it's actually (Glögg) mulled wine, you can obtain from the systembolaget.

Falconer - Vid Rosornas Grav

 

Falconer is a Swedish power metal band from Mjölby, formed in 1999. Founded by the former guitarist of Mithotyn, Stefan Weinerhall. Falconer carry on many of the traditions set by Weinerhall's previous band and play a style of power metal that utilises folk instrumentation and melody to create a more medieval sound.

I will not hide that the band does not really belonged to one of my favorites before and I am not familiar with their earlier works, have heard a few songs but it has never been interesting enough for me, however, when I read on the WeRock website and "Mats Manhammar" lines of Falconer's new album an interest grew, became curious and gave it a shot, Holy Moses, this is folk metal for real! The band also decided to make the entire album in Swedish is really a plus, is incredibly powerful. The album also contains four bonus tracks in English so all non-Swedish fans get their part, nice of the band, I must say. Armod is a collection of folk metal tracks. Seven of the 11 tracks on Armod are compositions by guitarist Stefan Weinerhall. Three are reworkings of traditional folk songs. And one comes from Cornelis Vreeswijk (“Grimasch om morgonen“), the renowned Swedish troubadour.

With neo-classical, folk and medieval elements as the basic ingredients, they make power metally arrangements of these and it turns into gripping and simultaneously groovy folk metal tracks, dominated by heavy, catchy riffs and dynamic leads.

Armod won’t be everyone’s cup of mead, but it sure makes for an interesting listen.

Cornelis Vreeswijk - Hönan Agda

Today its a special day in Sweden, Its Cornelisday.
Cornelis Vreeswijk was and still is a great poet and musician from Holland, but lived here in Sweden. He wrote many tunes that was touching everyone of us, either to tears or to laughter.



Cornelis Vreeswijk is considered as one of the most influential and successful troubadours together with Carl Michael Bellman in Sweden. He released approx 7 albums in Dutch, and around 32 in Swedish, and around 12 after his death

Amir Chamdin did a film about Cornelis life 2010 with Hans-Erik Dyvik Husby in the leading role.



In Mosebacke Terrassen they have a music event and they called this the Cornelis day these Swedish artists will sing and play his tunes: Lill Lindfors, CajsaStina Åkerström, Janne Åström & Medborg och Jojje Wadenius.

Im gonna play a tune for u that is about this roster that all this hens specially one hen called Agda, is dissapointed on cos he cant really get it going :p

Its a fun and cool song, Love it.
