Ane Brun - Make You Feel My Love

Thursday, time for a cover.

"Make You Feel My Love" is a song written by Bob Dylan for his 1997 album "Time Out Of Mind". It was first released commercially by Billy Joel, under the title "To Make You Feel My Love", before Dylan's version appeared later that same year. It has since been covered by numerous performers and has proved to be a commercial success for singers such as Clare Dunn, Adele, Garth Brooks, Shane Filan, Bryan Ferry, Kelly Clarkson, Ane Brun and Nick Knowles. Dylan eventually released the song as a single.

Today's version is from Swedish-based Norwegian singer Ane Brun features radical re-interpretations of the tune. The song is taken from her seventh studio album "Leave Me Breathless" where she covering both mainstream and more eclectic fare. Tunes like the soaring ballad by "I Want To Know What Love Is" FOREIGNER, Nick Cave’s romantic "Into My Arms". Maria McKee’s "Show Me Heaven", Mariah Carey’s "Hero" among many others.

Ane Brun says "I read the book “Normal People” earlier this year and I loved it! And shortly after I was told they wanted to use my cover of Bob Dylan “Make You Feel My Love” in one of the episodes of a new tv-series based on that brilliant book! This kind of synergy makes me so happy! This live version is from Leave Me Breatless Live at Oslo Spektrum"

Enjoy today's tune!

Linn Öberg - Jump

One of Britain's favorite Swedish has just released the video and soon she will support a music legend! Linn Öberg is a Singer Songwriter based in Stockholm, Sweden.

When Linn Öberg makes music she is inspired by Bon Iver and Leonard Cohen. This she present acoustically with just guitar, drums and vocal harmonies. With a melodic voice loaded with deep passion and darkness, and with an ability to touch the listener to your very souls. Should I pull a reference to someone, then believe it is Ane Brun who are closest one in line.

Her career took off after she released her first single "Jump" in 2012 and then started working with Andy Ross, the man who once signed Blur. After this, she has been visible at several venues across London and in May 15 she doing a gig in Stockholm, opening for Grammy winner Sinéad O'Connor at Hamburger Börs in Stockholm.

For about a year ago, she released her first EP "Parades", available to listen to through any streaming service.

Todays tune "Jump" is taken from her EP "Parades"

Kraftwerk - Numbers

Kraftwerk. Only Kraftwerk. None other than Kraftwerk.

The shadow cast by Kraftwerk is eternally great and immensely overwhelming; we find the group from Düsseldorf everywhere from The Big Lebowsky, to Warp Records, to MOMA, to The Simpsons. The list is endless and their influence has extended past music to encompass cultural expressions as a whole (wherever they may pop up). The presence they have built up over their nearly 40 years of existence is massive. M-A-S-S-I-V-E.

With milestones like Autobahn, Radio-Activity and The Man-Machine, Kraftwerk have forever written themselves into the stylized encyclopedia of all things worth knowing about the world. By assembling musical creations using circuits, oscillators and filters, they moved forward the boundaries of both instrument construction as well as how electronic music could sound. Yet, it has not been about pioneering solely for the sake of pioneering; Kraftwerk have always managed to produce timeless melodies, and this is undoubtedly why they have conquered the world. We all know "The Model." We all know "Showroom Dummies." We all know "The Robots." More need not be said.

Their recorded music is, however, not the only area where they have pushed boundaries. The visual experience of Kraftwerk’s concerts has always left the audience with gaping jaws and blown minds. Whether it be the strikingly mechanical minimalism of a line of musical machines or the persistently inspiring projections of a future that could have been, these scenes are indelibly etched into the conscious of everyone present.

Kraftwerk is one of Way Out West's biggest bookings. There is no denying the fact. And yes, we are more than a little euphoric about it. That they will also perform their acclaimed 3D concert (stylish spectacles will be provided free of charge) confirms August 2012 to be the highlight of the year.

Ane Brun - Do You Remember

Ane Brun is a songwriter, guitarist and vocalist, born in Molde, Norway in 1976. Since 2003 she has recorded six albums, three of which are studio albums, a live DVD and a collection of duets. She has lived in Stockholm, Sweden since 2001, where she writes, records and runs her own label (Balloon Ranger Recordings) when not on tour.

"Do You Remember" is the first single from Ane Brun's forthcoming album "It All Starts With One". The record, which is produced by Tobias Froberg, would have been recorded as early as 2010 but was postponed when both Peter Gabriel and Ani DiFranco - two artists who meant a lot to Ane - invited her to their tours. On Peter Gabriel's upcoming album "New Blood" continues his collaboration with the Norwegian-born, now 10 years Sweden-based singer.
To Ane Brun's own album was delayed has frustrated the fast-growing fan base she built up with their three studio albums and his assiduous touring. But the year on a world tour gave Ane time to write even more songs and more to work through those she already had written. During those magical recording days in Stockholm this spring was no one in the artist's inner circle as longer doubted that the time was perfect. Everything just fell into place.

Ane Brun says that todays tune "Do You Remember” was one of the very last songs she wrote to the album. She had an idea in her head about the background choirs that would be energetic, desperate and folk-inspired. At first she thought that she should do the singing herself, but after a concert with international duo First Aid Kit, she felt immediately that it was their magical distinctive sound she wanted! She asked them immediately after the show, they said yes! A few days later came the sisters to the studio and delivered the sound she had dreamed of.

The forthcoming album "It All Starts With One" released in September 2011 and the following month goes Ane Brun on the European tour, concert listings for Sweden are:

October 4 - Stockholm, Circus
October 7 - Gothenburg Trägårn
October 8 - Malmö Palladium
