Odyssey - Pyramids

For a little while ago I became one day older, not that i really celebrates birthdays any longer. But it's always nice to be remembered. Especially with a congratulations and then i never say no to a little gift :) Actually got some gifts, a few drawings from my daughters, a little bag for my ipod that my daughter had made, a new mouse to the computer of my wife. So I was really happy, it was a fantastic day. A few days ago a good friend "Chief Rebel Angel" came over for a coffee, he actually had a small bag with some great beer and a record as a gift. Wow, shit, how cool is that.

So today we serve you guys with some beer and naturally we pick out a track from the album I got.

Swedish hard rockers Graveyard Together by Three Towns Independent Brewers created beer. Graveyard Hisingen Brew - a tasty, healthy light layers with malt subtle and distinct aromatic notes from American Cascade aroma hops. Fruity, aromatic hop aroma and flavor, with hints of honey, herbs and citrus. This beer is pretty good for an rock'n roll beer!!

The second beer was also a real surprise, first time I tried this and it actually tasted really good, a future favorite perhaps? What I understood of "Chief Rebel" this was his house beer! Malt and hops are beautifully married in this full-bodied, copper-red Pale Ale. Red Seal is generously hopped for a long, spicy finish.

The album was Swedish Odyssey's "Abysmal Despair" that is a much anticipated debut album on Transubstans Records. Heavy & harsh stonerrock deluxe with a great feeling for riffs, the band hits it hard, and hits it good! Think stonerrock, add some noise and sludge - and you get a vague idea what this trio is all about, you will get some "Sleep", "Converge" and "Pink Floyd". Over time, it has in several occasions been called garage-stoner. The record came out as black vinyl but also in a limited release with the grand difference of colour; this gatefold is embracing a beautifully made green vinyl!

Odyssey is a trio consisting of Jonas Pedersen on vocals, Jesper Karlsson on drums and Marcus Östensson on guitar. The band came about after many discussions between the guys about creating a band that possesed a heavy sound and a driving energy. In spring 2010, it took shape. Already on day one Odyssey knew what to do, after only two rehearsals the first demo was recorded and the first gig booked.

And that pace has continued ...

After recording numerous demo tapes and an EP in true DIY spirit Odyssey will release their first full-length album on Transubstans earlier this spring.
