Krokus - Screaming in the Night

Sunday, time for a classic.

"Screaming in the Night" is a song taken from "Headhunter" is the seventh studio album by the Swiss hard rock band KROKUS, released in 1983. It achieved Gold status in the United States. The track "Screaming in the Night" was the band's biggest hit to date and is still played on classic rock radio stations. "Headhunter" is the only KROKUS album to feature Steve Pace on drums, and includes the BACHMAN-TURNER-OVERDRIVE cover "Stayed Awake All Night".

UK-based company Rock Candy Records reissued the album on CD in 2014.

KROKUS is a typical mid 80's Euro-metal band and was founded in Solothurn in 1975 by bassist (and original lead vocalist) Chris von Rohr and guitarist Tommy Kiefer. Former TEA vocalist Marc Storace joined the band as frontman in time for their Metal Rendez-vous album in 1979.

Kiefer was replaced by roadie Mark Kohler in 1982. Their brand of metal relies heavily on AC/DC and the SCORPIONS, with simple, radio-friendly riffs and repeatedly chanted choruses. Their biggest hit was a cover of ALICE COOPERs "School's Out."

Volbeat - The Devil's Bleeding Crown

Seal the Deal & Let's Boogie is the sixth studio album by the Danish metal band VOLBEAT. The album was released on 3 June 2016. It is the first album not to feature Anders Kjølholm who left in November the previous year.

In April 2015, Michael Poulsen revealed that he had so far written seven songs for the album. In November 2015 it was reported that bassist Anders Kjølholm had left the band. Kaspar Boye Larsen was announced as the replacement for Kjølholm in May 2016, after having played bass for VOLBEAT on their recent US tour.

On 7 April 2016 VOLBEAT announced the release of "Seal the Deal & Let's Boogie". Lead guitarist Rob Caggiano said of the musical content of the album: "There's definitely some stuff that kind of weaves in and out of the record. You know, the last album was leaning heavily towards like the Western stuff and, you know, outlaws and cowboys and that kind of thing, and this is a whole different thing. There's definitely some cool characters and some voodoo stuff on this record, which I always found fascinating." Lead singer Michael Poulsen stated that he believes in the spirit world, saying: "I've always been very interested in the spiritual world and all those kinds of things. Also dark, spiritual things… I guess it's just something that a lot of guys in the metal and rock scene are very into. I just remember very interested in it since I was a teenager, seeing a lot of horror movies, which I still do." Poulsen has also called the album a "spiritual album, because the lyrics are very spiritual. They're not religious; we're not religious believers, but we do believe in the spirit world."

Today's tune "The Devil’s Bleeding Crown", the lead single taken form the brand new album "Seal The Deal & Let’s Boogie", released 3 June 2016. Internationally, "For Evigt" (meaning "Forever") was released as the first single on 29 April 2016. The song features Danish singer Johan Olsen of rock group Magtens Korridorer, and is the second collaboration between Olsen and Volbeat following "The Garden's Tale" (2007). "For Evigt" is replaced by "The Bliss" on the North American version, where the Danish chorus sung by Olsen is sung by Michael Poulsen in English.

Honkeyfinger - Got This Rage

HONKEYFINGER is a one man band, one man show.

He comes from Bethnal Green and plays skronk blues beast rock. Stripped back and amped up - the sound of one heavy assed live band hotwired through one body. Lapsteel twisted and fuzzed to hell like you never heard before, guttural screeching harmonica, a-rhythmic floor drum pounding, paraplegic beatbox looping, and wild dog howling is the HONKEYFINGER way.

Start with pre-war country blues. Forget the 1950s and 60s post war celebration pop shit - ffwd to the early 70s amped up diddleybeat protometal fuzzgroove of Detroit, SABBATH, BLUE CHEER. . . ffwd to punk rock and messed hip hop . . end up with present stomp box loop gizmos and a valve driven fuzz arsenal made from Russian tank parts. HONKEYFINGER is born.

THE HONKEYFINGER is the one that's incessantly tapping, searching, prodding bloated guts for forgotten rhythms, reaching deep down the throat of a primal consciousness to regurgitate what's lost from our slick modern capitalist lives. The debut Album "Invocation of The Demon Other" is 15 tracks of love, loss, anger, rage, and deep frustration. Bringing light to the dark repressed depths of the human soul. All delivered with the power of a singularly uncompromised vision of 21st century rock music and the burning desire to transcend all limitations.

Today's tune "Got This Rage" is taken from his album "Invocation of the Demon Other", the video was filmed live at 2nd annual Deep Blues Festival. Washington County Fairgrounds, Lake Elmo MN. Day 2, July 19, 2008.
