Monday, new week, let's present "Record Of The Week"

Like a phoenix, DOMKRAFT rise from the ashes of their previous apocalyptic-themed albums with third full-length "Seeds", released April 30, 2021. The latest album from the psychedelic riff-doom trio focuses on the idea of emerging from the ruins to start anew, building something different and better beyond the cataclysm. In the midst of 2020's summer heatwave, the Swedes headed to Welfare Sounds Studio in Gothenburg for three days to nail down a new epic that feels raw and alive with studio heads Kalle Lilja and Per Stålberg. With due credit to the mixing wizardry of Karl Daniel Lidén (GREENLEAF, KATATONIA, LOWRIDER), DOMKRAFT's trademark heft is more prominent than ever, and the ambitious lyrical themes add context to the always-massive riffs and hypnotizing flow. Originally, DOMKRAFT bonded over a mutual love for SPACEMEN 3, MONSTER MAGNET, SLEEP, and HAWKWIND among others. Drawing from the heaviest of their combined influences, the trio from Stockholm crafted a sound that blends towering dirges, mind-bending psychedelia, and hypnotic minimalism, which is embodied by their monolithic 2016 debut album "The End of Electricity" and 2018 follow-up "Flood".

With "Seeds", DOMKRAFT has drawn a detailed map to a groove-driven heavy rock utopia, where humankind can evolve and unite. This psychedelic sludge piece of art has to be heard and watched with 3D glasses to experience fully. The album alternates between the slow-half pace manners with heavy riffing and some breather moments where the slower tempos explode into a more three-quarters bang! The melodic guitars are absolutely wonderful in their monotonous grandeur. Backed by slick and relentless bass licks and thunderous dirty drums and the sludgy and painful vocals makes this an unstoppable force.

From the fantastic opener "Seeds" where they fire off the whole battery that follows up in the "Perpetuator", "Into Orbit" and "Dawn Of Man" until it's time for the fifth tune "Tremors" where we get a more laidback piece that echos in the shadow of the thick mist for a while until the heavy monotonous riffing takes place. The vocals oscillate between the restrained and the slightly mad scream that Martin Wegeland fully masters. "Krank Blekhet" is a short and moody interlude that somehow smooths everything out with a much-needed breathing pause before it's time to end it all with the album closer, "Audiodome", that doesn't waste anything, just blasting off into the stratosphere in a almost ten minutes DOMKRAFT finale without its equal, wonderful, simply wonderful! The album is marvelous crafted, the heaviness is really heavy and more encompassing than ever, I feel completely dull after a lap and just want to play more. DOMKRAFT has again evolved, grown, and created an organic and electric album where they have dignified their experiences in a majestic way. Better living through monolithic volume!

Sum: Follow the "Seeds" on the avenue of pulsating despair, a must-have in your collection!

Pallbearer - Run Like Hell

Thursday, time for a cover.

After nearly 18 months in the works, Magnetic Eye’s massive dual-release homage to PINK FLOYD, The Wall (Redux) and the Best of PINK FLOYD, is nearly here, set to be released in the end of November.

From the album "The Wall (Redux)" have the Arkansas doom metal band PALLBEARER put thier teets in the iconic Floyd classic, "Run Like Hell", here did they got the chance to really think outside the box and make thier own version with galloping, up-tempo, early-Maiden-esque classic-rock hard rock, sounds splendid. Instead of David Gilmour's simple reverb-heavy guitar lick, the melodic-doom quartet opts for a chugging, churning approach, leaning heavily on the gallop that exists in the original and bringing it to the forefront.

"Run Like Hell" is a song by the English progressive rock band PINK FLOYD, written by David Gilmour and Roger Waters. It appears on the album "The Wall", 1979. It was released as a single in 1980.

The record company Magnetic Eye Records is behind the re-envision PINK FLOYDs concept masterpiece "The Wall" in its entirety from end to end in sequence, featuring some of the most iconic artists in heavy music today alongside some of the most exciting newcomers. Joining PALLBEARER are names that range from the MELVINS to Mark Lanegan to RUBY THE HATCHET, each taking one of the album's classic cuts. Check out the full track listing below.

A good rule of thumb for covers is don't do them — unless you are either 1) completely revamping the song and giving it a different feel and sound, or 2) improving on the original. PALLBEARER has definitely achieved No. 1, and only time will tell if PALLBEARER have done No. 2, but we'll be damned if they aren't pretty close.

Mountain Tamer - Faith Peddler

The San Francisco heavy psych and stoner rock band MOUNTAIN TAMER have released their second studio album "Godfortune // Dark Matters".

Featuring guitarist and vocalist Andrew Hall, drummer Casey Garcia and bassist Dave Teget, Mountain Tamer garnered local success with their hypnotic live performances, incorporating lucid jam sessions and traditional stoner/doom structures, seamlessly blending splashes of psychedelia with metal. After self-releasing several demos, the band released their debut album in 2016 on Argonauta Records in Italy. MOUNTAIN TAMER formed their signature fusion of heavy psych and stoner rock in 2011 on the outskirts of San Francisco.

"Godfortune // Dark Matters" offers a refreshing, modern spin on a genre steeped in tradition. Recorded and mixed by Robert Parker of Salem's Bend. Mastered by David Shirk at Sonorous Mastering. "Godfortune // Dark Matters" released digitally in August, 2018 on Magnetic Eye, which will be followed by a vinyl release of the album in September through Nasoni.

Tunga Moln - All Along the Watchtower

Tuesday, time for a cover and today we really have a great one.

The Swedes in TUNGA MOLN were invited to take part in Magnetic Eye Records' "Electric Ladyland [Redux]" tribute to Jimi Hendrix. They submitted their interpretation of "All Along The Watchtower", a hard task indeed, but something they solved brilliant and all the vocals is in their own native language, Swedish.

"All Along the Watchtower" is a song written and recorded by the American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan. The song initially appeared on his 1967 album John Wesley Harding, and it has been included on most of Dylan's subsequent greatest hits compilations. Since the late 1970s, he has performed it in concert more than any of his other songs. Different versions appear on four of Dylan's live albums.

Covered by numerous artists in various genres, "All Along the Watchtower" is strongly identified with the interpretation Jimi Hendrix recorded for Electric Ladyland with the Jimi Hendrix Experience. The Hendrix version, released six months after Dylan's original recording, became a Top 20 single in 1968 and was ranked 47th in Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
