Violet And Dave Grohl – Nausea

Thursday, time for a cover.

"Nausea" is a tune by the American rock band X, taken from the debut studio album "Los Angeles", released on April 26, 1980, by Slash Records. It was produced by ex-DOORS keyboardist Ray Manzarek and includes a cover of the 1967 DOORS song "Soul Kitchen".

The tune "Nausea" was performed in the 1981 rockumentary The Decline of Western Civilization, and later in 2008 in the Germs biopic film What We Do Is Secret.

Today's version is with Violet Grohl, the 15-year-old daughter of FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl, where she teamed with her dad for a stunning cover of the American rock band X, together they performs the song "Nausea" on Jimmy Kimmel Live, enjoy!

Foo Fighters - Concrete and Gold

Monday, new week, time to introduce "Record Of The Week"

"Concrete and Gold", FOO FIGHTERS ninth studio album, released on September 15, 2017.

"Concrete and Gold" is FOOs most balanced record yet. It's a very well crafted album, both musically and emotionally, it's full of playfulness and seriousness. It's pretty easy to sink in to and very fun to listen to. The production is made by the pop merchant Greg Kurstin (ADELE, BECK, KELLY CLARKSON, SIA, PINK) adds a fresh and big atmosphere to the album without distorting the classic FOO sound, just a facelift.

"Concrete and Gold" is a 11 tunes long and clocks in to 48 minutes. Opens up softly with soulish tune "T-Shirt", a short love song before it takes it's next step to the punkish "Run", were the FOOs kick in your teeth, another punk bomber is "La Dee Da". The rocker "Make It Right" with Justin Timberlake's on backing vocals, he sings great in a already magic rocker. Acoustic guitars begins the half pace soul beauty "Dirty Water". On of the highlight is "The Sky Is a Neighborhood" a real stadium anthem. "There ain’t no superheroes now" sings Grohl in the BEATLES like "Happy Ever After (Zero Hour)", Jessy Greene plays some violin here. Another BEATLES like tune is "Sunday Rain", it even has Paul McCartney playing drums on it. "The Line" is great car rocker. The album closes up with the title tune, a PINK FLOYD alike beast.

Sum: They did it again!

Today's tune "The Sky Is A Neighborhood" is taken from "Concrete and Gold", enjoy!

Foo Fighters - Something From Nothing

"Something from Nothing" is a song by the American rock band Foo Fighters from their eighth studio album Sonic Highways. It was released as the album's lead single on October 16, 2014. Recorded at Steve Albini's Electrical Audio studio, the song was influenced by the Chicago music scene.

According to Daniel Kreps of the Rolling Stone magazine, the lyrics of the song "Here lies a city on fire... it started with a spark, and burned into the dark" seem to be inspired by the Great Chicago Fire (1871).

"Something from Nothing" is "a ferocious, at times even hypnotic, rocker with hints of funk, psychedelia, and Dave Grohl's signature monster growl." It features soaring guitar that is reminiscent of Chicago-based alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins. The song starts with muffled guitar, and subsequently builds up to "non-stop ferocious rock 'n' roll" in its fourth minute, and "an ear-shattering outro lined with scorching guitar riffs."

"Something from Nothing" was recorded at Albini's Electrical Audio studio in Chicago. The song features guitarist Rick Nielsen of the rock band Cheap Trick as Chicago City's "guest of honor." Music video

The first music video aired at the end of the Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways "Chicago" episode. It shows the band and Rick Nielsen performing at Electrical Audio while 2D animated lyrics appear in the background throughout the video.

The cover for the single features the John Hancock Center in Chicago.

The Foo Fighters is an American rock band, formed in Seattle in 1994. It was founded by Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl as a one-man project following the death of Kurt Cobain and the resulting dissolution of his previous band. The group got its name from the UFOs and various aerial phenomena that were reported by Allied aircraft pilots in World War II, which were known collectively as foo fighters. Prior to the release of Foo Fighters' 1995 debut album Foo Fighters, which featured Grohl as the only official member, Grohl recruited bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith, both formerly of Sunny Day Real Estate, as well as fellow Nirvana touring bandmate Pat Smear as guitarist to complete the lineup. The band began with performances in Portland, Oregon. Goldsmith quit during the recording of the group's second album, The Colour and the Shape (1997) when most of the drum parts were re-recorded by Grohl himself. Smear's departure followed soon afterward.

Todays tune "Something From Nothing" is taken from the upcoming album "Sonic Highways", enjoy

Ghost - Secular Haze

Ghost is a Swedish heavy metal band, formed in Linköping in 2008. In 2010 they released a 3-track demo, followed by a 7" vinyl titled "Elizabeth", and eventually their debut full-length album Opus Eponymous. The Grammis-nominated album was widely praised and increased their popularity significantly.

Ghost are easily recognizable due to their eccentric on-stage presence, five of the group's six members wear hooded robes, while the vocalist appears in a skull mask and a cardinal outfit, and highly secretive nature of their identities, with the members being referred to as "Nameless Ghouls". Musically, the band is often compared to groups such as Black Sabbath, Blue Öyster Cult, Mercyful Fate, and Witchfinder General.

On December 15, 2012, Ghost performed a special show in their hometown of Linköping. There they debuted the new song that was released online for free earlier that day, entitled "Secular Haze". The same show debuted the successor to the band's frontman, Papa Emeritus, known as Papa Emeritus II; believed to be the same person simply playing a new character. Ghost will release a second full length album, entitled "Infestissumam", in the spring of 2013.

Track listing of "Infestissumam":

1. INFESTISSUMAM
2. PER ASPERA AD INFERI
3. SECULAR HAZE
4. JIGOLO HAR MEGIDDO
5. GHULEH / ZOMBIE QUEEN
6. YEAR ZERO
7. IDOLATRINE
8. BODY AND BLOOD
9. DEPTH OF SATAN’S EYES
10. MONSTRANCE CLOCK

Todays tune "Secular Haze" is taken from the upcoming second full-length album "Infestissumam". It will be released in spring 2013 on Loma Vista Recordings and is set to be produced by Nick Raskulinecz. The B-side on the 10" has a cover of ABBA's tune "I'm a Marionette", featuring Dave Grohl of Nirvana and Foo Fighters on drums as well as production.

Ghost live at Cupolen in Linköping, Sweden, where the throne of Papa Emeritus I was usurped by Papa Emeritus II at the end of Genesis. The ritual was followed by a live premiere of the new track Secular Haze from the forthcoming album "Infestissumam".

Tenacious D - Rize Of The Fenix

Tenacious D will never die!
Thats the message on this fantastic,  amazing fantasy video, which is full of dreamed up scenarios.

As usual its brought in with a very great tune!
I just love them, love to see their creativity in both video, lyrics and music.
What we might didnt knew is that John Konesky plays electric guitar, John Spiker and Dave Grohl on drums, thats something huh !

Jack Black stated on David Letterman that he had an idea for a song called "Rize of the Fenix", which he described as a "rise from the ashes" workout song similar to "Eye of the Tiger".
Then it came :D

Dudes and Dudettes here is Tenacious D!

Cheers, Thetania
