Mushroomhead - Seen It All

Unique, adventurous, and alternative. All these attributes go for MUSHROOMHEAD. Their music simply knows no boundaries but while listening to their tunes their masks and their theatrical imagery appear in front of the listener's eyes. Formed in the early 1990s they shake every ground and are ready to deliver.

For the better part of the past five years, top-charting masked metal machine MUSHROOMHEAD have been crafting the epic follow up to their monumental 2014 full-length album, "The Righteous & The Butterfly" – waiting ever-so-patiently to drop their next collection of anthems. The Cleveland collective makes their prodigious return with the new full-length oeuvre, "A Wonderful Life" – the eighth release of their benchmark career – out June 19, 2020 via Napalm Records.

Available in several enticing formats, "A Wonderful Life" clocks in at a whopping 70+ minutes with its four bonus tracks – leaving a total of 17 stellar compositions in its wake for fans to devour. "A Wonderful Life" is accented by the sharp production of band mastermind/drummer Skinny, as well as the standout mixing prowess of Matt Wallace (FAITH NO MORE, 3 DOORS DOWN), also recognized for his work on the band’s classic offering XIII.

A few days ago did MUSHROOMHEAD dropped their first new single "Seen It All", see and hear it below.

Enjoy today's hair-raising piece and the surefire proof that MUSHROOMHEAD is back in prime form. New full-time vocalist Mr. Rauckhorst leads the pack in an apropos cry for societal unity and marks a confident return for the band.

Frayle - Witches

The Doom/Stoner Duo FRAYLE was formed in Cleveland in 2017 by Sean Bilovecky and Gwyn Strang.

FRAYLEs “lullabies over chaos” approach to songwriting and their strive to balance the heaviest of riffs, complex layering, tone stacking, syncopated rhythms, with unexpected vocal progressions of Gwyn’s haunting vocal melodies.

Gwyn tells stories of heartbreak, anger, hypocrisy, and resolution, asking the audience for empathy, and in turn inspiring vulnerability.

Drawing inspiration from bands like SLEEP, PORTISHEAD, BEASTWARS, BLONDE REDHEAD, KYUSS, MASSIVE ATTACK, DOWN, CHELSEA WOLFE, and many more, FRAYLE exists at the intersection of doom and dream pop.

They released their "White Witch" on April 1st, 2018, the opens drop tuned and eerie and continues to draw the listener in with heavy slow riffs, light spooky vocals, and doleful lyrics.

Work has already begun on a new full-length album with release pending this summer. Frayle promises to further explore the relationship between crushing riffs and ethereal fragility.

In the mean time for the full-length we pick thier latest tune "Witches", released September 3, 2018 the tune is written by New Zealand sludge metal band BEASTWARS, taken from the album "The Death of All Things" (2016), enjoy today's cover.

Algiers - Cleveland

"The Underside of Power" is the second album by American experimental band ALGIERS. The album was released through Matador Records on June 23, 2017. The album was produced by Adrian Utley of PORTISHEAD and his frequent collaborator Ali Chant. It was also the band's first album to feature drummer Matt Tong as a full-time member.

"The Underside of Power” assert violence, darkness and horror, that the human spirit is affirmed through witness and resistance, leading not only to solace but to redemption.

ALGIERS is composed of vocalist/guitarist Franklin James Fisher, bassist Ryan Mahan, guitarist Lee Tesche and drummer Matt Tong. ALGIERS pulls from a divergent number of musical (and nonmusical) influences; the most notable of which being post-punk, gospel music, Southern Gothic literature and the concept of the Other. Their sound has been described as "dystopian soul" due to its somber mood, afrofolk inspired vocal approach, and heavy emphasis on atonal textures.

The band met and grew up playing music together in Atlanta, Georgia but was officially formed in London in 2007. Their name evokes the anti-colonial struggle in general, symbolizing a contested space where violence, racism, resistance, and religion commingle.

The group released their first single “Blood” in January 2012 via Atlanta based label Double Phantom. Byron Coley for The Wire wrote “Although the fusion may have been touched upon in recordings related to both The Birthday Party and The Gun Club, Algiers are dedicated to grafting gospel music onto post-punk guitar-cuzz...this record is mesmerising and really sucks you in with its weird power.”

The band's self-titled debut album was released through Matador on June 2, 2015. In 2015, ahead of their eponymous release, the band opened for Interpol, during their North American Tour. Matt Tong, formerly of Bloc Party, has been playing drums for Algiers since early 2015. Their live show has been described as "recalling at various points PIL’s dub-style expansions, Afrobeat, industrial, no wave, free jazz, Suicide, the XTC of “Travels in Nihilon,” Nick Cave’s fire and brimstone, and musique concrète.”

Today’s tune ”Cleveland” is taken from their second album "The Underside of Power”, enjoy!
