Darkthrone - Love In A Void

Thursday, time to dig out a cover.

"Love In A Void" is a song by English rock band SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES. It's appeared on the first EP, "The Peel Sessions", was released in 1987 by record label Strange Fruit. It features recordings made for John Peel's show broadcast on 5 December 1977, and was recorded at the BBC Studios in Maida Vale, London, England on 29 November 1977. It also included on the "2005 CD remastered Deluxe Edition bonus disc" for the debut album "The Scream" and as a b-side on the West Germany single "Metal Postcard (Mittageisen)".

"Love In A Void", was composed by Severin and previous BANSHEES guitarist Pete Fenton. The track was an early live favourite; it was also the first song of their first John Peel session, recorded in late November 1977.

The b-side "Love In A Void" was heavily sampled by rapper Akala in a version retitled "Love In My Eyes" on the album "Freedom Lasso" in 2007.

Today's tune "Love In A Void" was also covered by metal band DARKTHRONE on the ep "Too Old Too Cold" in 2006, and was featured on the soundtrack of the 2016 film "20th Century Women", listen to it below. DARKTHRONE is a black metal band from Kolbotn, Norway, formed in 1986 as a death metal band under the name BLACK DEATH. In 1991, the band embraced a black metal style influenced by BATHORY and CELTIC FROST and became one of the leading bands in the Norwegian black metal scene. Enjoy today's cover!
