Dropkick Murphys - State of Massachusetts

American Dropkick Murphys from Boston, USA is out on a world tour. Support during this tour was Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls. However, I missed his gig, was stuck with other things during their show.

Dropkick Murphys starts with their combine punkrock and Celtic folk music. A band that can completely knock one out with their energy, joy and seriousness and it sure was almost verging on it for a smack full evening at the annext witch was crammed with lots of happy people and it smells beer everywhere you turn, almost like a festival :)

They played many sweet tunes during the evening, see the setlist below, but it was well a bit divided on their alternative Christmas song "The season's upon us." From the new album, we hear a few songs, where "Rose Tattoo" stands out best, and it works clear as a bell, a future classic I guess. The band end the evening with a medly of hits and a really crazy interpretation of AC/DC "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" and fans of feminine gender allowed to do entrance on stage, wild dancing among the nearly 50 girls on stage until the evening ends, lots of happy fans leaving the annexet to drift back home during the super cold Swedish winter night which was waiting with open arms.

Here are some pictures that i was able to shoot with my pocket camera.

Setlist:

The Boys Are Back

Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya

Todays tune "The State of Massachusetts" is a song about the effects of drugs on individuals and their families by the Dropkick Murphys and was released as the first single from the album The Meanest of Times. This tune was not played during the evening, which was a shame.
