Back in 2012, a trio of young descendants out of Eisenberg (fondly called "IRON HILL") were ready to bow to their ancestors of the death metal old school, whilst letting them know the meaning of innovation. Having shaken the dust out of conventional soundscapes, in a shower of groove grenades came the ferocious death metal hymns that bred their debut album "My Empire"(2012). DESERTED FEAR had arrived.
The response was overwhelming with comparisons to bands like DEATH, ASPHYX, BOLD THROWER, DISMEMBER and OBITUARY, heavy praise indeed. The band’s second, no less destructive record, "Kingdom Of Worms"(2014) was another bloodcurdling journey through rousing chaotic melodies, superior blast thrills and gnarly, growlingly massive hooklines. On "Dead Shores Rising" (2017), and now with latest release "Dead Shores Rising" (2019) offers high-class song-writing, a powerful sound and should kick off an exciting new chapter in the band’s history.

For "Dornenvögel" mastermind J.J. (vocalist of HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY) invited a lot of guest musicians from Lunar Aurora, DOWNFALL OF GAIA to participate with guest vocals on the album.
It is for sure the most diverse album that KARG wrote so far. It’s a steady up and down of negative and melancholic feelings and short glimpses of hope, recited in a quite hysteric way. Every song is a separate, private ,"Dornenvögel" (which is a metaphor in this connection) to KARG, every song treats a different chapter. That’s why the album is called ,"Dornenvögel". A collection of dramas, one followed by the other.”
KARG was founded back in the summer of 2006 as a one-man project. Between 2010 & 2014 KARG was fully formed as a band to play gigs, formally in Germany, Austria and Central Europe. In the years till 2018 KARG was, like in its beginning, held as a one-man project and released two more albums. With the release of KARGs sixth studio album "Dornenvögel".
The musical style of KARG is a furious, hysteric mixture of Atmospheric Black Metal and a huge load of Post Rock, with influences also from Grunge, Shoegaze and Post Punk. The influences from other genres than Black Metal evolved more and more within the last few years but were there in abridged form since day one. Textual KARG always was about the more melancholic side of life, such as broken relationships, lost love, estrangement, drug abuse, loss or suicide thoughts and depression. In contrast to many other bands KARGs lyrics are as equal important than its music is.

"The Scythe Of Cosmic Chaos" was released during the winter's solstice, the 21st of December, 2018, speaking of last-minute release by the German Cthulhu-themed melodic death metallers SULPHUR AEON, ten days before the year ended they decided to let it out, not much of play time if they were looking to get on any end-of-year lists around the world, but to stand out and be a little own is something that seems to be popular among metal bands nowadays.

"The Scythe Of Cosmic Chaos" is a powerful album, monstrous death metal with epic overtones celebrating the works of the great H.P. Lovecraft with deep monolithic riffs, blasting thunderous drumming, clean and harsh atmospheric vocals, and the huge melodies. The album opens with "Cult Of Starry Wisdom", where we recognize SULPHUR AEON already after a minute when the watery dripping intro has been flushed away. A furious intro with blasting drums and a sneaky guitar opens up "Yuggothian Spell", a tune that reminds me of my youngest daughter, a lot of drama in a chaotic world. The tune has some clean vocals to spread some unholy ritual to get some dramatic atmosphere in a chaotic sense the tune is heading at. Some superb and insane drumming with a catchy chours and some really beautiful riffs in "The Summoning Of Nyarlathotep". "Sinister Sea Sabbath" the longest piece, flows away to 9½ minutes of great build ups and downfall, deep passages with cleaver hooks which covers all the guys have learned while growing up, smart and crazy. Horrofying and progressive "The Oneironaut / Haunting Visions Within The Starlit Chambers Of Seven Gates", crawls like a snake in the dark, creapy vocals and heavy riffs. "Lungs Into Gills" is a catchy and really hooky piece. "Thou Shalt Not Speak His Name (The Scythe Of Cosmic Chaos)" is a theatrical piece of art and a real spellbinding finale, monotone and evil guitars with a terrifying theme. "The Scythe Of Cosmic Chaos" are full of colossal hymns and enjoyable ablum, were we get melodically accessible metal that blends the raw and venomous with some catchy and beautiful parts with some really creative and memorable riffs that shows excellent musicanship.
Sum: Death Metal from the deep with a complex spellbound of Lovecraft.
