Monday, new week, time to present "Record Of The Week"

A/B is the second studio album by Icelandic rock band KALEO. It was released on June 10, 2016.

KALEO hail from Mosfellsbær, Iceland, nothing that will come up in mind when A/B is spinning on the turntable as both the sound and vocal is as american it could be. The music is like overheated garage blues with fine-tuned capochilla-soul vocals.

KALEO was formed in 2012. The band consists of Jökull Júlíusson (vocals and guitar), Davíð Antonsson (percussion and vocals), Daníel Ægir Kristjánsson (bass guitar), and Rubin Pollock (guitar and vocals). KALEO has released two studio albums, KALEO (2013) and A/B (2016), as well as an EP, Glasshouse (2013).

The album "A/B" kicks of with a meaty Blues stomper "No Good", a tune which appears on the soundtrack to HBO's Vinyl. "Way Down We Go" is a half tempo master piece where JJ Whiskey soar vocals will trip anyone on her knees, thick and sensitive. "Broken Bones" is the albums Delta Blues tune where "The devil's going to make me a free man", excellent indeed! The album really have a broad mix from the Blues to Country like the tune "Automobile" or the folkish "All the Pretty Girls" and up tempo rockers like "Glass House" and "Hot Blood". Or the iced folklore "Vor I Vaglaskogi" where JJ sings in his native language, a tune that makes a real impact, grandiose and sentimental. The album closes with two softer tunes, the honest "Save Yourself" and hauntingly beautiful "I Can't Go On Without You".

The influences are THE BLACK KEYS, THE LUMINEERS, ROBERT JOHNSON and BON IVER.

Sum: An album that mixes virginity and soulfulness of blues rock with elements of folk and country.

Led Zeppelin - Travelling Riverside Blues

This weekend moves Tune Of The Day for a new residents, so we will not do anything advanced in music way during this time, we hope that you guys have a full understanding about this, we will be back in full force at some point next week, during the time you get short posts with "a move" theme!

"Travelling Riverside Blues," sometimes called "Mudbone" or "Mud Bone," is a blues song written and recorded in Dallas, Texas by the bluesman Robert Johnson. Johnson's June 20, 1937.

The song is well known for the lyrics:

"I want you to squeeze my lemon
until the juice runs down my leg."

English rock band Led Zeppelin's version of this song was recorded at the BBC studios in Aeolian Hall on June 24, 1969. Jimmy Page dubbed extra guitar tracks onto the track (the main track being played on a 12-string electric guitar, possibly the same one used on the track "Thank You").

It is quite different from the original, and it is more a tribute to Robert Johnson than a straight cover.

"Travelling Riverside Blues" can be found on the Led Zeppelin BBC Sessions album, and on the expanded Coda album from The Complete Studio Recordings box set. A promotional video clip was also released in 1990, with outtake footage from the band's 1976 concert film, The Song Remains the Same inter-spliced with other footage from the band's archive. The clip also features a railroad montage, and underwater shots of the Mississippi River.
