Capilla Ardiente - The Crimson Fortress

Whereas South America (first and foremost Brazil) has been very active in giving birth to great new bands, especially of the Thrash Metal variety, Doom has still pretty much stayed underground on the continent. So CAPILLA ARDIENTE from Chile could be seen as some kind of oddity.

The concept of CAPILLA ARDIENTE dates back to 2004 or 2005 and plays some traditional doom metal, where the main influences are CANDLEMASS and SOLITUDE AETURNUS. The album "The Siege" is an excellent doom album released in 2019 that spans 45 minutes divided into four tunes, with an average over 10 minutes songs full of ambitious songwriting and well-executed songs. Great mix in melodies and cool well thought riffs makes this album a joy to listen to. This is absolutely the best Doom album from Chile 2019 and it's one of many on my to-buy list.

"The Siege" is signed to High Roller Records, so it makes it pretty easy for us Europeans to access it.

Bad Acid Session (​(​(​Live Bootleg​)​)​), is a live recording by the acid rock from southhell ARTEAGA, the acid Chilean beast that has been committing covens on the southern stages of the American continent for years.

ARTEAGA published a bootleg called "Bad Acid Session", a material consisting of seven songs captured directly from the audio speakers during a presentation on March 22, 2019 at the Mi Bar in Santiago, Chile.

Crisalida - Morir Aquí

CRISÁLIDA is a progressive Rock band from Chile released an album "Terra Ancestral" April 2015. The album was produced by Daniel Cardoso (drummer of ANATHEMA). "Terra Ancestral" tells stories about our powerful south, its majestic forests and about the ignored suffering in our Patagonia.

CRISÁLIDA merges the best of rock, metal, ambient and folk; and they certainly know how to handle those four musical coordinates. Put PINK FLOYD, PORCUPINE TREE together with the most recognized Chilean bands like LOS JAIVAS and FULANO in a mixer and you will get CRISÁLIDA.

The band was formed in back in 1997. Thirteen years later, the illusion of creating atmosphere through music remains intact. A female voice with an outstanding character followed by four professional musicians, thoughtful lyrics and a captivating live performance brings the perfect balance within musical power and finesse.

They have made them self a good name back home with earning following Chilean awards: "2006 revelation band of the year" from Radio Futuro, the main and most important Classic Rock Radio Station in Chile;

"2008 Best Avant-garde Album" with their album "Raco". They have also constantly been part of several Chilean music Festivals and music events:

The 2nd Summit of Chilean Rock in 2008 and Pepsi's Music tour in 2009; supporting the shows for the very well known rock band The GATHERING TWICE (2007 and 2010) and for DEEP PURPLE in 2009.

CRISÁLIDA: Spanish term for chrysalis (Latin chrysallis, from Greek khrūsallis = chrysallís, pl: chrysalides) or nympha is the pupal stage of butterflies; derived from the metallic gold-colouration found in the pupae of many butterflies referred to by the Greek term khrūsos (chrysós) for gold.

Föllakzoid - Electric

FÖLLAKZOID began seven years ago as a trance experience between childhood friends Diego, Juan Pablo, and Domingo from Santiago, Chile. Heavily informed by the heritage of the ancient music of the Andes, the band has learned to integrate this influence with contemporary sounds of their times, creating a rich yet minimal atmosphere.

For III, the band wanted to expand their sound while building an atmosphere with mainly monochords and reiteration. After recording and mixing the album on their own at their studio at BYM Records, they partnered with German electronic maestro Atom TM to flesh out the album’s synth parts. Most of the sounds he provided were atonal electronic sounds, aiming for concrete frequencies and sampled organic glitches. (The Korg synthesizer Atom TM plays on this record was used by Kraftwerk on tour in the '80s.)

III is a four-part minimal sound voyage in which you can hear FÖLLAKZOIDs musical language developing into something more upbeat, obscure, and sharp, yet even simpler in terms of elements.

During the past year, the band played more than 80 gigs, including at Primavera Sound Festival (both Porto and Barcelona), ATP Festival in the UK, Musique Volantes in Lyon, and Lollapalooza Chile. The shows for III, including a confirmed set at Austin Psych Fest in May, should spread the band’s fog-enshrouded gospel to an even wider audience.
