King's X - Over My Head

Bass guitarist Dug Pinnick, most known for the band KINGS X, came out as gay in 1998 in an interview with Regeneration Quarterly. This resulted in a conflict with certain Christian retail shops, who pulled KINGS X material from their shelves. He later revealed he identified as agnostic.

Douglas Theodore Pinnick (born September 3, 1950), sometimes stylized as dUg Pinnick or simply dUg, is an American musician best known as the bass guitarist, songwriter, and co-lead vocalist for the hard rock and progressive metal band KINGS X. He has performed on 15 albums with KINGS X, and recorded four solo albums. Pinnick has also participated in numerous side projects, and has multiple guest appearances to his credit. He is recognized for his unique vocals (which are characterized by a strong gospel influence), and heavily distorted bass tone.

Today's tune "Over My Head," a soulful, metal groove, taken from the second studio album "Gretchen Goes To Nebraska". It is a concept album based on a short story written by drummer Jerry Gaskill. Having received strong critical praise and fan support, Gretchen Goes to Nebraska is considered among the best work of KINGS X, and a seminal record within the progressive metal genre.
