Mazzy Star - Fade Into You

American alternative rock band Mazzy Star who had one of the 90's most beautiful alternative rock song "Fade Into You". The band formed in Santa Monica, California, in 1989 from the group Opal, a collaboration of guitarist David Roback and bassist Kendra Smith. Roback's friend Hope Sandoval became the group's vocalist when Smith left the band.

During their most active period Hope Sandoval and David Robeck created a soundscape where each crushing syllable breathes scathing concern, love, and more than its fair share of darkness; we all have our own associations with Mazzy Star’s deep sorrow-rich music. Expect a new addition to the audio backdrop that gives our depressions their superb soundtrack. Sandoval and Robeck will release album number four this year, something that makes you, me, and the rest of the world smile gently.

Mazzy Star is probably best known for todays tune "Fade into You" which brought the band some success in the mid 1990s and was the group's biggest mainstream hit, earning extensive exposure on MTV, VH1, and radio airplay. Roback and Sandoval are the creative center of the band, with Sandoval as lyricist and Roback as composer of the majority of the band's material.

Mazzy Star and Stay Out West is a combination that promises queue. We are well aware of this, but honestly, which do you associate Mazzy Star with most: daylight and a blue sky or compact darkness and brutal intimacy?

Mazzy Star plays at Annedalskyrkan fri 00:30

Way Out West’s unique city based format taps into Gothenburg’s thriving music scene, with performances at some of the best venues the city has to offer. From Thursday evening to Saturday night (or Sunday morning if you can last that long) the city’s rock clubs, nightclubs, churches, theaters and cultural centers will showcase both breaking and more established acts as part of the festival’s club concept Stay Out West.

Bands playing the club nights will not be appearing on the stages at the festival site. A 3-day festival pass is valid for admittance for all Stay Out West shows, Thursday through Saturday, but does not guarantee entrance. Please note that the capacities of the venues is limited and many of these shows will be filled to capacity early, so if there is a certain band you want to see try to get there early. It will not be possible to buy separate tickets for club gigs, neither in advance nor at the door. Make sure you exchange your ticket for a festival wristband before visiting any of the clubs, as paper tickets are not valid for entrance.

All club venues with the exception of Annedalskyrkan have an age limit of 18 years (this is due to Swedish liquor laws). The age limit at Annedalskrykan is 13 years (a 3-day youth wristband will gain you admittance). Below you will find a list of Stay Out West clubs and their addresses. Show times and venues will be released closer to the festival and are subject to change.

Todays tune "Fade into You" is taken from the second album "So Tonight That I Might See", that was released on October 5, 1993
