Gerry Rafferty - Baker Street

Hey all,
Did The Ark yesterday at Gröna Lund in Sweden, so as we do Tune of the Day
mostly from gigs that we work on....hm..I found one video but..my inner me
just screamed NOOOO, I cant, there are limitations, I have limitations.
The Ark is absolutely not my kind of band.
Then I scrolled down on the same page there were songs that was named
The ark etc. then I saw a name i havent seen since youth..

Gerry Rafferty!

His most famous song Baker Street, damn I loved it and I still do.
So who is this Gerry well he is a Scottish singer and songwriter.
In 1972, Rafferty and his old school friend Joe Egan formed Stealers Wheel, a group which was beset by legal wranglings, but did have a huge hit "Stuck in the Middle With You" (made famous for a new generation in the movie Reservoir Dogs) and the smaller top 40 hit "Star" ten months later. The duo disbanded in 1975.
In 1966 Gerry and Joe had released a single, "Benjamin Day" / "There's Nobody Here", as members of The Fifth Column.

In 1978, Gerry Rafferty cut a solo album, City to City, which included the song with which he remains most identified, "Baker Street". The single reached No. 3 in the UK and No. 2 in the U.S. The album sold over 5.5 million copies, toppling the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack in the U.S. on 8 July 1978.
Even today, "Baker Street", which features a "glistening"
saxophone solo by Raphael Ravenscroft, remains a mainstay of soft-rock radio airplay

He did 9 studio albums and 5 compilations.
Latest in 2009

There are some more info on this guy at this link

Lady and Gents, Mr Rafferty!

Peace, Thetania

Todays tune is Behemoth's latest video for "Alas, Lord Is Upon Me" from "Evangelion"

In August 2010 Nergal was diagnosed with leukemia. Behemoth have been forced to cancel all next shows in August including Sonicsphere Festival in Finland, concerts in Russia and Baltic States in September and October, and their North American tour "Lawless States of Heretika" with Watain, Withered and Black Anvil in November and December.

A new Behemoth's live DVD "Evangelia Heretika" will be released in November 2010.

Along with the rest of the metal community, wishes Nergal a speedy recovery and looks forward to seeing the frontman return to the stage where he will continue to decimate the metal masses for years to come.

Broken Bells - The High Road

After 2½ weeks on the road making festivals, I am finally at home, sleeping in my own bed, to meet up with family, taking a bath, drink my own coffee without someone crying on the radio in need of something. I feel the body crying out for the rest, my muscles ache and my feet feel like a packet of raisins, but equally i am happy for it.

Now last week I have been residing in a parking lot in a park in central Gothenburg. Lots of bands have passed thru, however only few i manage to see, and the bands that I stopped on the fly to see a tune with was the American Broken Bells.

Broken Bells includes the members Brian Burton (better known as Danger Mouse) and James Mercer, the lead vocalist and guitarist for the Albuquerque indie rock band The Shins. Broken Bells compose and create as a duo, but are joined by a full band on tour. Following the success of their first self-titled album, Broken Bells, Mercer and Burton have announced intentions to record a follow-up.
