Vltimas - Something Wicked Marches In

New Week, time to introduce "Record Of The Week"

"Something Wicked Marches In" is the debut album from a brand new band named simply as VLTIMAS. The band featuring Rune "Blasphemer" Eriksen (ex-MAYHEM, AURA NOIR) on strings, David Vincent (ex-MORBID ANGEL) on vocals and drummer Flo Mounier (CRYPTOPSY). A behemoth of death metal extremity, this album sees these titans bring their prodigious talents to bear on a commanding synthesis of their storied histories.

So be prepared to be totally run over by this extreme metal royalty beast, it's like a giant crawler equipped with a substantial metal that pushes large quantities blistering double-bass, furious compact riffs, and angry vocals.

From the opening guitar fiddling intro of the title tune "Something Wicked Marches In", the album bursts into life with exhilarating metal that just smack you in the face. And that's just the starting point of this brutal beast. Angry growls, chunky death riffs with a devilish charisma, blasting drums can be heard on tunes like evil and rabid "Praevalidus", blasting darkness in the middle-paced "Monolilith", the devils screams in "Diabolus Est Sanguis" (today's tune, see it below). In tunes like "Total Destroy" and "Truth And Consequence" they just let everything loose, chaotic mayhem with screaming guitars and insane drumming make you totally loose control. Haunting middle-paced pieces like "Last Ones Alive Win Nothing" is a real beauty that gives the chill. The album closes with "Marching On", a delightful metal piece, melodic haunting melody that will glue into your forehead. "Something Wicked Marches In" is a forceful statement of intent.

Sum: This is really something, a modern—death and a wicked metal album that marches in delightfully into your heart. Don't dare to miss this.

Today's tune "Diabolus Est Sanguis" taken from the debut album, released 29 Mar 2019, enjoy!

Sunday, time for a classic.

"Maha Kali" is an tune by the Swedish extreme metal band DISSECTION. It was the first release after the rebirth of DISSECTION, shortly after Jon Nödtveidt was released from prison. The song "Maha Kali" also appears on the live DVD "Rebirth of Dissection", and was re-recorded and included on DISSECTIONs last full-length album, "Reinkaos"; "Unhallowed (Rebirth Version)" is a re-recording from "Storm of the Light's Bane".

Taken from the "Maha Kali" EP, Released 8 November 2004. The clip is filmed live, taken from "Rebirth Of Dissection" DVD released in 2006. Enjoy!

Sâver - Dissolve To Ashes

SÂVER from Norway is a heavy trio with some spaced out darkness out of Oslo.

SÂVER is the new project of Ole Christian Helstad, Ole Ulvik Rokseth and Markus Støle of TOMBSTONES and HYMN. But the members of SÂVER have known each other for years, and have been active in the Oslo underground music scene in various bands... some of them made it to Roadburn and Psycho Las Vegas (TOMBSTONES), while others toured squats and small venues across Europe, all of them contributed to their member's experience and the serenity which SÂVER exudes.

“The idea of starting SÂVER was a consequence of ending something“, comments Helstad.

“In the beginning it was a good mix of loss, in a way, and the excitement of a blanc canvas. In hindsight, we shared a feeling of longing for an escape, getting away from the known, and immersing ourselves into something completely different... which is scary and exciting at the same time. It mirrors the band both in a literary sense, as well as the general mood during the writing process.“

The band recorded the album in May 2018 in Norrköping, Sweden, while camping out in the Swedish woods nearby. Much like label mates LLNN or BRIQUEVILLE, SÂVER's sound is characterized by a strong component of abrasive vocals and apocalyptic synths, shimmering moogs and textural electronics hovering above the base of heavy guitars and gnarly bass tone – a mélange that works incredibly well and has been becoming increasingly popular across the globe of heavy music lately.

Today's tune "Dissolve To Ashes". Enjoy that ride upwards that is "They Came With Sunlight"!

October Tide - I, The Polluter

With a history tracing back to the epicentre of melodic death metal in Sweden, OCTOBER TIDE have come a long way and have generated a spark that is strongly felt in the energy of the scene. "In Splendor Below" is the latest addition to their vibrant discography of guitar-driven, emotive death/doom metal art.

OCTOBER TIDE consists of the founding member and long-time KATATONIA guitarist, Fredrik Norrman, his brother and guitarist Mattias Norrman (ex-KATATONIA), vocalist Alexander Högbom (DEMONICAL), bassist Johan Jönsegård (LETTERS FROM THE COLONY) and drummer Jonas Sköld (LETTERS FROM THE COLONY / THENIGHTTIMEPROJECT). While Fredrik prefers for the music to speak for itself, he finds the new album "a bit more aggressive, a bit more death metal, and with an overall colder feeling than previous records".

The band was formed in 1995 by KATATONIA members, Jonas Renkse (BLOODBATH) and Fred Norrman, OCTOBER TIDE spawned two, now-cult releases, "Rain Without End" (1997) and "Grey Dawn" (1999), before going on hiatus for over eleven years. In 2009 Norrman parted ways with KATATONIA, and resurrected OCTOBER TIDE, consolidating the band's reemergence with a new album titled "A Thin Shell", feat. Tobias Netzell of IN MOURNING on vocals. Since then, the band evolved through two more studio albums, "Tunnel Of No Light" (2013) and "Winged Waltz"(2016), both of which featured exceptional guitar work, on top of OCTOBER TIDE's emotional touch on death metal.

"In Splendor Below" album was mixed and mastered by Karl Daniel Lidén at Tri-Lamd studios (BLOODBATH, KATATONIA, BREACH, CRAFT). It was produced by Alexander Backlund from Nailvillage Studio (THENIGHTTIMEPROJECT / LETTERS FROM THE COLONY) and OCTOBER TIDE. Tomarum av Christine Linde created the cover artwork.

Watch OCTOBER TIDE's guitarists Fredrik and Mattias Norrman perform a playthrough of "I, The Polluter", the first single from "In Splendor Below" album, due out May 17th worldwide via Agonia Records.
