Stone Sour - Song #3

STONE SOUR have released a new muscular video and single for the tune "Song #3" taken from the band's "Hydrograd "album that comes out June 30th. STONE SOUR will tour the U.S., Australia and Europe after the album's release, see the dates below.

STONE SOUR is an American heavy metal band formed in Des Moines, Iowa in 1992, performing for five years, before disbanding in 1997. They reunited in 2000 and since 2006, the group has consisted of Corey Taylor (lead vocals, guitar), Josh Rand (guitar) and Roy Mayorga (drums). Longtime members Joel Ekman (drums, percussion), Shawn Economaki (bass guitar), and Jim Root (guitar) left the group in 2006, 2011, and 2014 respectively.

To date, STONE SOUR have released five studio albums "Stone Sour" (2002); "Come What(ever) May" (2006); "Audio Secrecy" (2010); "House of Gold & Bones – Part 1" (2012) and "House of Gold & Bones – Part 2" (2013). They also released a digital live album, "Live in Moscow", in 2007. Their upcoming album, "Hydrograd", releases in June 2017. It is their first album to feature guitarist Christian Martucci and bassist Johnny Chow since each joining the band in 2014.

The "Song #3" video was directed by Ryan Valdez. The video-within-a-video conceit begins with lead singer Corey Taylor walking onto a movie set. He grabs a long blond wig and hops onstage with his band, who are wearing oddly crisp white outfits. Taylor keeps changing clothes throughout the clip, but his search for the right outfit never interferes with his performance.

"Song #3" moves in eruptions, as Taylor declares his love in lines like, "I would run into the storm/ Just to keep you here with me." Meanwhile, the band thrashes furiously behind him.

Stone Sour - Fabuless

"Hydrograd" is the upcoming sixth studio album by American rock band STONE SOUR. Recorded at Sphere Studios in Los Angeles, it is the follow-up to the band's 2012–2013 double concept album, "House of Gold & Bones Part 1 and 2". It is set to be released on June 30, 2017 via Roadrunner Records.

According to Johny Chow, the record is said to be a departure from previous STONE SOUR albums, more of a rock-and-roll album. He also mentions that the album has more of a groove feel to it and very melodic with large choruses added to it. Corey Taylor has praised the album by saying, "It's probably one of the best records we have done since the first SLIPKNOT album." They also had recorded 18 songs, but some of them were cut from the final record.

First taste from "Hydrograd" is the new song "Fabuless" for a raging crowd of inflatable doppelgänger fans in the first video.

STONE SOUR have a handful of festival dates scheduled for this May, after which they'll embark on a full summer tour with KORN. The trek begins June 16th in Salt Lake City, Utah and wraps August 2nd in Cleveland, Ohio.

Judas Priest - Electric Eye

Sunday, time for a classic tune, today we play "Electric Eye", a song by British heavy metal band Judas Priest, from their 1982 album Screaming for Vengeance, and released as a single later that year. It has become a staple at concerts, usually played as the first song.

Benediction and Helloween, amongst many other bands, have covered this song.

Musically, the song is in the key of E minor, and its guitar solo is played by Glenn Tipton.

"Electric Eye" is featured in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories for PSP and PlayStation 2. It is also a playable track in Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s as a master track, including "The Hellion", and it also appears on Guitar Hero Smash Hits. Additionally, it is available for download on Rock Band, as of 22 April 2009, as part of the entire Screaming for Vengeance album download, or as a single song. It was also featured in the second trailer for the video game Brütal Legend.

This song is referenced in the movie Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, in the song "Break in-City (Storm the Gate!)".

"Electric Eye" is an allusion to the book Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell, in the use of the name of the pseudo-omniscient satellite that watches over the community at all times. In this dystopia, the form of government, Ingsoc (Newspeak for English Socialism), is utterly totalitarian, and if citizens are caught rebelling in any manner, they "disappear". The song has been called "prescient" for its depiction of a modern surveillance state.

The song is usually played right after the album's intro "The Hellion" during live concerts. An exception is during the tour for the album Demolition, in which the band went straight into "Electric Eye" with no intro, which can be heard on their live album Live in London. "The Hellion" was recently used for a commercial for the 2011 Honda Odyssey.

The song was played live at the 2011 Revolver Magazine Golden God Awards show by Duff McKagan's Loaded, with vocals by Slipknot and Stone Sour's Corey Taylor and guitar by The Sex Pistols' Steve Jones.

Todays tune "Electric Eye" is taken from the eighth studio album "Screaming for Vengeance". The album, considered the band's commercial breakthrough, sold in excess of 5 million unit worldwide and has been certified double platinum in the United States and platinum in Canada.
