Antisect - Black

The British hardcore punk band ANTISECT released "The Rising Of The Lights", October 13th, 2017 on Rise Above Records. The eventual release of the band's long-awaited second studio LP saw ANTISECT break new ground and appear in some previously unfamiliar places.

ANTISECT are a hardcore punk band based in London, England. Their roots are in hardcore/anarcho-punk and metal.

Formed in 1982 in Daventry, Northamptonshire, UK, their debut album, "In Darkness There is No Choice", was released in 1983. 1985's follow up EP, "Out From The Void" has often been cited as a game changer amongst their genre for fusing a raw punk rock style with elements of metal.

ANTISECT are a significant band in the timeline of hardcore punk music, said to have been a major influence upon "black-clad, politically charged punks over the last 30 years".

The band address issues including animal rights and social justice, communicating their ideas to a largely punk rock audience, and were among the instigators of the squat venue scene in the mid to late 1980s. During this time members lived the lifestyle of being either on the road or part of the vibrant London squat scene of the time. They toured extensively both in the UK and Europe and though originally splitting up in 1987, the band reformed in May 2011. The band is atm busy preparing for a tour in the States, see all the dates below.

The band consists of:

Pete Lyons - Guitar/Vocals
John Bryson - Bass/Vocals
Joe Burwood - Drums/Vocals

With the Dead - Isolation

Supergroup is such an erroneous term – images of bored playboys pissing on their legacy spring to mind – but the members of WITH THE DEAD have a history of creating criminally good records as long as your arm. They’ve all served hard time in the subterranean worlds of Doom and the heaviest forms of Metal and have now reconvened to surpass previous projects. They’re back – and this time the aim is to maim.

WITH THE DEAD were formed by the founding rhythm section of occultist Doom overloads ELECTRIC WIZARD: guitarist/bassist Tim Bagshaw (also a current member of SERPENTINE PATH) and drummer Mark Greening, a pair once notorious for the sheer brute heaviness of their bowel-shaking sound and early extra-curricular activities that involved excess, injury and low-level criminality (arrests for the theft of a crucifix from a church roof and drunkenly robbing an off-licence to name but two).

Due to various reasons, Greening was dismissed from the group shortly after the album was released. His replacement is former BOLT THROWER skin batterer, Alex Thomes. Joining him is full-time bassist, Leo Smee, formerly of British Doom pioneers CATHEDRAL. Having performed both bass and guitar duties on the album, Bagshaw will now concentrate solely on six-string savagery. Completing the circle is frontman Lee Dorrian, co-founder of CATHEDRAL, former frontman with grindcore legends NAPALM DEATH and owner of Rise Above Records, the UK’s finest independent purveyors of all sounds heavy and underground, whose stable of bands include GHOST, UNCLE ACID & THE DEADBEATS, LUCIFER, BLOOD CEREMONY and WITCHCRAFT. Having been in business since 1988, Rise Above is also one of the most enduring.

So get ready for some apocalyptic, chasm, skull-crushing Doom Metal. Prepare to die.

Today's tune "Isolation" is taken from the forthcoming album, "Love From With the Dead", released worldwide September 22nd 2017. The Video is directed by Marc Morris.

Troubled Horse - Revolution on Repeat

Monday, even if it’s Sunday here in Sweden it’s still a new week, so let’s introduce ”Record Of The Week"

"Revolution on Repeat” is the latest release from the Swedish garage rockers TROUBLED HORSE. The album was released Mars 31.

Formed in 2003 in their hometown of Örebro (also home to WITCHCRAFT), the Horse crew erupted into the consciousness of riff-worshippers everywhere with a low-key seven-inch vinyl release in 2010, and then their debut album "Step Inside", which was released by Rise Above Records in 2012. An invigorating whirlwind of spiky garage rock, propulsive psychedelia and thunderous, overdriven soul-meets-doom riffing, Step Inside showcased a band with little interest in current or nostalgic trends, instead revelling in a consciously classic but undeniably fresh new take on the most revered and ageless of musical components.

"Revolution on Repeat” is taken the next step forward since their debut album "Step Inside”. The album is righteous mix of the old school rock where the base is garage rock. It’s hard and bluesy rock that is spiced up with psychedelia and some pun. Even if the band bread the same air as WITCHCRAFT, GRAVEYARD and other classic 70’s retro band they stand out from the crowd, as I could say that they sound more as THE HELLACOPTERS with a 70’s approach. First thing that hits me after a few spins that these guys really enjoy what they are doing and they puts in everything that they got in this project. It’s a very fun, soulful album. With a a clean and crisp production you will get some nice listening hours.

The musicians are doing amazing work on "Revolution on Repeat”, album fires off with a real smoker ”Hurricane”, a galloping garage rocker then saddle to an old funky country riffages in "The Filthy Ones” with a vocal performance that will give you goose bumps, he screams, shouts and signs likes his intestines leaves the body. ”Which Way to the Mob” is a melodic rocker where Martin Heppich almost sounds like Nicke Andersson. ”Peasants” is a pulsations bluesy tune with a punk attitude to "The Haunted” where the doomish sound appears, in the middle of the tune they let loose of some marching drums and heavy riffing. ”Desperation” is a half pace swampy country/garage rocker with 60’s approach. "Track 7” stands out a bit, heavy riffing, punkish, bluesy and doomish to the great swampy desert country version of WARREN ZEVONs "My Shit’s Fucked Up”. ”Let Bastards Know” is a classic Swedish garage rocker. The album closes with the half pace start in ”Bleeding” to sparkle out to something furious until it falls back a bit to take some air until it fires off again, the tune fades out in the end right in the middle of the beauty part, wtf!

Sum: "Revolution on Repeat” is a really fun record that you should own!

Today’s tune ”Hurricane” is the first single taken from "Revolution on Repeat”, Video directed by Olle Forestam Wijkander. Enjoy!

Horisont - Second Assault

Born from the same 70’s rock-rich soil that gave us Witchcraft and Graveyard comes Horisont (Swedish for horizon, if you hadn’t already guessed). They debuted in 2010 with Två Sidor Av Horisonten - or Two sides of (the) horizon for non-Swedish speakers.

Horizon, which today released their new album "Second Assault" on the new labeln Rise Above Records, and are continuing much the same track as before, but this is more focus on the early 70's when Heavy Metal had just begun to define . The language is now completely in English to debut alternating between English and Swedish.

This is classic infectious hard rock for fans of the Golden Age. This Rocks!

Todays tune is the title track and first single/video from the new album "Second Assault" It's made by: Magnus Delborg, Photography done by: Eyal Schachar

The LP version does not yet have a date of release but hopefully it won't be too long wait.
