Red Hot Chili Peppers - Unlimited Love

New week, time to introduce "Record Of The Week".

"Unlimited Love" is the first full-length release in six years for the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, is also the first with John Frusciante since 2006's "Stadium Arcadium".

"Unlimited Love" is the twelfth studio album, released through Warner Records on April 1, 2022. Produced by Rick Rubin, the album reunites the band with both Rubin, who did not take part in the recording of their previous album, "The Getaway", and guitarist John Frusciante, who left in 2009 and rejoined in 2019, replacing Josh Klinghoffer. The band have gone through countless iterations during the years, although their core lineup of frontman Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, drummer Chad Smith and guitarist John Frusciante are responsible for their biggest tunes. So it's with a warm welcome to hear Frusciante’s magical style of playing again.

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS formed 1983 and now almost 40 years later, the band has nothing more to prove, they are in a position to do what pleases them instead.

The album contains seventeen tunes with a clock time over seventy minutes of playtime can almost be a little overwhelming, but hey it's the Peppers so it's fine. Overall I do like what I hear, old school sounds mixed with a little new attempt at renewal, the album just flows nicely and is full of surprises along the way. From the first powerful anthem "Black Summer", the lead single and opening track gives the album a kickstart. The rest of the songs on "Unlimited Love" are not quite as moving and direct, but oh so interesting. "Whatchu Thinkin" and "Let ‘Em Cry" do possess the great flow and groove. The glittering funk piece "She’s A Lover" and Flea's licks in "Aquatic Mouth Dance". The moody and half paced "Not The One" is a great love song and "Bastards Of Light" is an intressting tune with a cool groove and some heavier riffings in the middle of the track. "These Are The Ways" is a song that stands out a bit and offers some sonic experiments with some breakdowns and feels very progressive. The funky "Poster Child" offers fast vocal licks with a great lyrics by Anthony Kiedis... lol. The album "Unlimited Love" is a great listen where you can still hear their enthusiasm burning after all these years and it sounds like they had a great time in the studio, looking forward to catch them live soon.

Sum: Great grooves from Flea, Frusciante, Smith and Kiedis, you need this!

Today's tune "Poster Child", taken from "Unlimited Love", enjoy!

Red Hot Chili Peppers - The Getaway

Monday, new week, time to introduce "Record Of The Week"

"The Getaway" is the eleventh studio album by American funk rock band. An album that is just awesome. It's really fresh and innovative. Where the mix of the RHCP classic funk rock with psychedelia, punk even disco and other genres makes "The Getaway" an joyful palette of music that will blow your mind away. The sound is amazingly good, you just want to turn it up even more for every spin it takes.

The album it’s their first album since 1989’s Mothers’ Milk without Rick Rubin behind the boards, Brian “Danger Mouse” Burton produced the record and co-wrote five of its tracks, with long-time RADIOHEAD collaborator Nigel Godrich handling the mixing. This was really a good choice as you clearly hear that something new have happen with the band, sounds so much more alive :)

Sum: YOU NEED THIS!!

The album cover is a painting by Kevin Peterson. According to Peterson "The Red Hot Chili Peppers wanted to use my painting Coalition II for the cover of their upcoming album.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - By The Way

Good Evening, then it was Friday again, this week has really gone away and now I am really behind with the reporting. I shall try to catch up on it now and during the weekend. A few concerts have been done, a rehearsal and a magnificent double gig on the globe, of course, we start with the good stuff this evening, I can not just hold it inside.

On Tuesday and Wednesday we had nice visits of funk, pop rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers, during two nights at the Globe and almost sold out and only a few tickets left did These gentlemen stood up on stage to entertain the Swedes and showed where the red cabinet with the chili would be.

The show is good, very good, the band feels incredibly tight, rested, well-trained and Anthony Kiedis is singing better than ever and with total presence, Flea strutting at its worst on his funkbass and bounces around on stage like never before and the new acquisition, guitarist Josh Klinghoffer doing well but did not take as much surface as Flea, yes its enough with one ego on stage, drummer Chad Smith beats the movable groove quite incredible.

At one point becomes Flea furious when his "Inear" failures, a technician rushes forward on stage and tries to help him, but Flea just blows off his hand and help and run with "I can do this myself, idea" which ends up with him just spitting and swearing as he tries to pull loose the cable, its almost like a dog with mustard in the butt.

The show is also cruelly beautiful in its simplicity, where the focus is on the moving video screens.

Here some pictures from the gig.

Today's tune will become the title track and the end song form the first live chapter "By The Way" from the album 'By The Way,'

Electric Boys - Father Popcorn's Magic Oysters

Rockicon Conny Bloom and his Electric Boys broke through in the late 80's and became one of the biggest rock band with a variety of international success. After several years of residence was reunited group in 2009 and the response was complete.

After a compilation album, they came last spring with "And Them Boys Done Swang", the first Electric Boys album since 1994. We hear several new songs, but also some of the hits from the past when the Electric Boys with the original composition (Conny Bloom, Andy Christell, Franco Santunione and Niclas Sigevall) enters the "Musikplatsens" live scene in the Radiohuset earlier today, during lunch time.

It was thanks to a work colleague who persuaded me to spend my lunch at the "Radio House" and I'm not one to bang for a little adventure. It was actually really nice, the guys were incredibly tight and it rocked on really well, nice to hear them new tracks live. Thanks Jojje for this.

Of the any event, I had brought my camera so I got some pictures which I gladly share with me.

Todays tune "Father Popcorn's Magic Oysters" is taken from the compilation album "And Them Boys Done Swang"
