Sixx:A.M. - Gotta Get It Right

Sixx:A.M. is a hard rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2007 by Nikki Sixx, DJ Ashba, and James Michael, and is the side project of Sixx, who is also the bass guitarist for Mötley Crüe. The group is best known for their songs "Life Is Beautiful" and "Lies of the Beautiful People". The name Sixx:A.M. is a combination of all of the member's last names (Sixx, Ashba, Michael).

To date, Sixx:A.M. have released two studio albums; The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack (2007) and This Is Gonna Hurt (2011), and three EP's; X-Mas In Hell (2008); Live Is Beautiful (2008) and 7 (2011). The band's third album Modern Vintage was released on 7 October 2014.

Sixx:A.M. celebrated the release of the third album "Modern Vintage" by playing their first live show since 2009 two nights ago at iHeart Radio Theater in Los Angeles, CA in front of an intimate crowd, hosted by Trey Morgan from 98.7, LA’s alternative radio and in partnership with iHeartRadio Live. The big announcement at the event was that SIXX:A.M. will be embarking on their first-ever headline tour in 2015 playing a limited number of dates across North America with special guest Apocalyptica. Says bassist Nikki Sixx: “Fans have been asking for years “When is Sixx:A.M. gonna tour?” and we’ve finally announced our first headline tour. We can’t wait to play these songs live and put on a rock extravaganza for our fans. We’re excited to announce that we’re bringing along Apocalyptica as special guest because we are fans of their music and think this is going to be an amazing night of music from beginning to end”. Eicca Toppinen, cellist of Apocalyptica adds: “When we heard about this tour, we loved the idea right away! We were on Nikki’s radio show before and had a great time. I really liked Sixx:AM’s first two albums and am very much looking forward to the new record. Going on tour with Sixx:AM will bring a great night of music to all our fans.”

“It is extremely exciting to get the band on the road. The demand for them to perform live has been building over the years. We can finally give the fans what they have been asking for,” says the band’s agent, Peter Pappalardo of Artist Group International. To round out the band’s live lineup they have added drummer, Jeff Fabb (In This Moment, Black Label Society, Filter) into the mix. Says singer James Michael: “For three records now we have been envisioning what a Sixx:A.M. headline tour would look and feel like. We are so excited to finally be bringing these songs to life”. Adds guitarist DJ Ashba: “Over the years we feel we have taken our fans on some pretty incredible and diverse musical journeys. However, they have only been able to experience half of our vision. For the first time we are going to present a visual journey to go along with the music. This tour will be something you won’t want to miss. This will be the ultimate Sixx:A.M. Experience”.

Todays tune “Gotta Get It Right” is the first single off the band’s new album, Modern Vintage.

Flyleaf - Chasm

Flyleaf is the band im gonna show u today, I saw em as a support band to a band I dont remember... haha Ah well it was on the Stadion In Stockholm, Sweden.
I was pretty amazed over her voice.

Then last year I heard her (Lacey Sturm)singin´ in Apocalyptica´s "Broken Pieces, and i was totally hooked to her!

Flyleaf is heavy music and pained lyrics go together like cake and ice cream, and Belton, Texas quintet, Flyleaf, aren't about to break with tradition. But while many loud rockers reopen old wounds by singing about their broken homes and broken hearts, Flyleaf confront past traumas to heal old scars and prove in the process that hope shines brighter than despair.

The tune of today is on the album on their follow-up to their 2005 platinum debut. It contains 14 songs, which were selected out of 30 already written. The band reunited with producer Howard Benson to make the album. The album was recorded at Bay7 Studios in Los Angeles, California. It was released on November 10, 2009. The band debuted two songs, "Chasm" and "Circle", from Memento Mori live during a small acoustic tour in Afghanistan for United States Troops.

Folks, Here is Lacey Sturm and her Flyleaf!

Peace, Thetania

A live performance of the same tune.

Amon Amarth - Twilight Of The Thunder God

Amon Amarth is a Swedish death metal band formed 1992 in Tumba. The band's debut album, Sorrow Throughout the Nine Worlds was released in 1996. The band's songs are often about Vikings and Norse mythology, but they classifie themselves not as a viking metal band. The latest and eighth studio album "Surtur Rising” was released on March 29, 2011.

Amon Amarth is on tour right now made a stop at Tyrol in Stockholm on Saturday. Together as support acts are The Black Dahlia Murder and Evocation.

Amon Amarth is a band that I've seen a couple of times live, as it was at Arenan together with Entombed. The stage is clearly powerful, they have 19 stage raisers on the tour, all to build ramps and a giant drum spot. The orange and enormous backdrop shows that this will be an epic night, see photos.

This evening was a bit like the last time, but this was a little tighter and more stage presence. The light show was much better than last time, well done Chris. Amon Amarth is known to always deliver, and the concert itself lives up to expectations. Not so much tracks from the new album but more of a good, mixed bag of candy, see setlist below.

In addition, it was really fun to run into Steve Drennan (Bass Player in Engel) who once again took on the mantle as backline tech. Steve, who always is pleasant and always have something fun to tell.

Pictures from the gig:

Todays tune ”Twilight Of The Thunder God” (feat. Roope Latvala) is the title track taken from the seventh studio album "Twilight of the Thunder God” was released in September 2008. The album features several guest appearances featuring Entombed vocalist Lars Göran Petrov on "Guardians of Asgaard", Children of Bodom and Stone guitarist Roope Latvala who contributes a solo on the track "Twilight of the Thunder God", and Finnish cello metal band Apocalyptica as a guest appearance on "Live for the Kill”. The album artwork was done by Tom Thiel
