"There Is A War" is a tune by Leonard Cohen, released in 1974 on his fourth studio album "New Skin For The Old Ceremony". On this album he began to move away from the minimal instrumentation of his earlier work, with the use of violas, mandolins, banjos, guitars, percussion and other instruments producing a more orchestrated (but nevertheless spare) sound.

The latest installment of The Marigold Singles, a searing cover of Leonard Cohen’s “There Is A War,” featuring the acclaimed indie singer-songwriter, Kevin Morby and Sam Cohen. Proceeds generated by the sale of this digital single will benefit The Marigold Project, Rateliff’s foundation supporting community and nonprofit organizations working for economic and social justice. (The “There Is A War” 7” single with b-side will be released in early 2021.)

Nathaniel David Rateliff (born October 7, 1978) is an American singer and songwriter based in Denver, Colorado, whose influences are described as folk, Americana and vintage rhythm & blues. Rateliff has performed with a backing band called the Night Sweats for an R&B side project he formed in 2013. He has released three solo albums, two solo EPs, and one album as Nathaniel Rateliff and the Wheel.

Kevin Robert Morby (born April 2, 1988) is an American musician, singer and songwriter. WOODS, THE BABIES, WAXAHATCHEE, SCHOOL MASTER SLUGS.

Sam Cohen, the multi-talented Brooklyn-based musician and producer, released his first solo album, Cool It, in 2016. As the man behind the psychedelic-rock band YELLOWBIRDS.
