Magick Brother & Mystic Sister - Waterforms

MAGICK BROTHER & MYSTIC SISTER are a Barcelona-based band who take their name from a GONG album. The music is a combination of Psychedelia, Canterbury Rock, Folk, Cinemascope Music, even some Bossa Nova, filtered through their personal 60s influences. While they are certainly psyched spacey their main influence is probably CARAVAN and of course GONG. They trace their origin story back to 2000 when Eva (keyboards/vocals) and Xavi (bass/guitar) met Daevid Allen at a Canterbury festival where GONG, CARAVAN, and Arthur Brown were playing. Their debut album has a very retro sixties sound heavily featuring flute and mellotron. They were joined in 2013 by Maya (flute) and Marc (drums) to make up the band complete as a four-piece.

Magic and mysticism. Brothers and Sisters. Union and communion. The necessary duality. Will and power. Scenarios, territories, songs that explore sensations and transmitting possibilities of symbols. Paths of flight and seduction, cosmic and suggestive science, earth, air, fire, aquatic forms. MAGICK BROTHER & MYSTIC SISTER who express themselves through psychedelia beyond intuition.

MAGICK BROTHER & MYSTIC SISTER are:
Eva Muntada (piano, synthesizers, organ, mellotron & vocals),
Xavi Sandoval (bass & guitars),
Marc Tena (drums & vocals), and
Maya Fernández (flute).

Today's tune "Waterforms", taken from the self-titled album, released June 12, 2020. "On "Waterforms"... they introduce the heavy-clipped bass of vintage Lalo Schifrin and Goblin into a folkloric horror setting that takes all things Euro to the streets of San Francisco", Enjoy!
