Sprit Adrift – Enlightened In Eternity

Monday, time to introduce the first Record Of The Week for 2021.

"Enlightened In Eternity" is the fourth album release by the Phoenix rockers SPIRIT ADRIFT, released on October 16, 2020 by 20 Buck Spin / Century Media.

SPIRIT ADRIFT refuses to slow down, four albums and two EPs since the project began in 2015 as the solo endeavor of Nate Garrett, and eventually grew into a full touring band. That's freaking damn impressive.

With "Enlightened In Eternity", Nathan Garrett, alongside drummer Marcus Bryant, has created yet another monument to the timelessness of heavy metal, a formidable follow up to "Divided In Darkness". The band continues to build on the foundation they already established on the previous albums but open the doors for some new influeses to feed the creative nerve. The forth release is a very good album, I really love to hear bands that growing in their clothes, develop, improve their shortcomings, that is true craftmanship.

"Enlightened In Eternity" is full off excellent tunes tunes in the classic metal form. Gorgeous guitars that supplies heavy riffing and amazing solos, soaring vocals in the best metal way, marvelous melodies, neat harmonies all in a perfect mix. Like the opening bold metal banger "Ride Into The Light" where the guitars screams like it would have been Matt Pike behind the wooden piece with icy strings. Marvelous tune that gives a great finger point on what's to come. "Astral Levitation" is a SABBATH influenced piece that in it's own heaviness is a very gentle number, the vocals flows magical besides the heavy riffing and the solo that ecos in the middle is just amazing and it bursts out totally in the second part and shows that these dudes really can play, holy freaking moses what a tune. The album contains in the same manner but with some varity, the thick and heavy bass line in "Cosmic Conquest" to some bluesey hard rock swagger like "Screaming From Beyond", that borrows the feeling of AC/DC but with more punch. The bass licks in "Battle High" get me thinking of "Black Velvet", you know the classic piece with Alannah Myles but with a doomier and slower outcome. The speedy stomper rocker "Harmony Of The Spheres" has a great chours and a bumping melody that blows is straight in your face. "Stronger Than Your Pain" is a steady rocker with some spices of IRON MAIDEN. The album closes up with eleven minute doomish journey "Reunited In The Void", a atmospehric piece, big as a truck filled with lumbering doominess and amazing guitar playing along with some heavy slow riffing. This is an album that you should check up if you don't already own it, if you do so, then play it.

Sum: "Enlightened In Eternity" is solid release, high quality, deeply enjoyable heavy metal as it's best.

Today's tune "Screaming From Beyond" is taken from "Enlightened In Eternity", enjoy!
