Märvel - The Hills Have Eyes

MÄRVEL returns with their seventh album ”At the Sunshine Factory” set for release the 6th of October (Today) on The Sign Records.

The band have worked hard to create a ”larger than life” sound, building a studio of their own to get enough time to develop their songs to perfection. A cheerful production disguises a darker lyrical theme affected by today's world situation. MÄRVEL, known for their contagious hooks, pop melodies and rock 'n' roll soul, have tightened the bow and made braver decisions to make this the stand out album of their career. The album's spine is still very much vintage MÄRVEL, yet each of the twelve songs have got more of a character of its own.

Songs as "Angela" and ”Goodluck Sandy” are a further development of the sound that we first heard on the band's latest album "The Hills Have Eyes”. Two songs that takes the band several steps on that path with a rich production that puts full focus on the strong songwriting. The songs very well show King, Vicar and Burgher's newfound boldness and desire to evolve. ”Monsters Grow in the Dark” shows a new side of the band, where a darker, more sincere side is revealed. Still the Märvel we know is very much present, and it is perhaps mostly showcased in the direct hit ”All Over The News” that sports a classic Scandinavian approach - rock without any fuzz!

MÄRVEL signed a deal with The Sign Records in the beginning of 2017 and have since then started to re-release their earlier albums on new formats. Finding themselves a way out in new regions, the Swedish rock veterans are set for new challenges and conquests. MÄRVEL have never been this well equipped and ready to make a first and lasting impression on a new audience and deliver something fresh and virgin to their old fans. The band shines like never before.

Märvel - L.O.V.E. Machine

MÄRVEL takes on the classic "L.O.V.E. Machine" with W.A.S.P. for their second single from the upcoming album "The Hills Have Eyes". It's a well known fact that King, Burgher and Vicar are big fans of early 80's metal in all it's shapes and forms, so they felt it was natural to have the second single come in the shape of a sawblade in the crotch!

Lifted off of W.A.S.P.'s debut album from '84, and of course penned by the mighty Blackie Lawless, "L.O.V.E. Machine" is all you ever wanted and craved from a great rock track, with it's fantastic 'straight to the head' pop melodies, combined with flesh throwing riff coolness. The track has been a regular in Märvel's live sets for some time, and with their re-work, they've added their classic brand of soul, seventies rock and melodic pop to the mix, to make it truly their own.

Behind this power trio we find three young guys from Linköping, Sweden; John Steen, Ulrik Bostedt and Tony Samuelsson who founded the band Marvel during their high school exchange year in Colorado, USA., 2002.

The cover artwork as well as gatefold spread and back of the 12", was created by Anu Bring, a Finnish 32 year old dog loving DTP-operator. She works with ink, markers, coffee, acryl, charcoal and watercolor but the choice for The Hills Have Eyes was ink and coffee. "I start with a pencil sketch, try to get the flow going and then move on to inking or brushing coffee. I amp up the coffee tones with ink or sometimes with black watercolor." Anu says. She's inspired by the art of Niklas Stålvind and Derek Riggs and she get inspiration from comic book art, album covers and most of all music. "Without music there's emptiness. This album artwork project has been very close to my heart as I'm also a fan of Märvel."

Today's cover "L.O.V.E. Machine" is taken from the forthcoming album "The Hills Have Eyes", out September 18:th 2015, produced by Fred Estby and MÄRVEL, and released by Killer Cobra Records.
